One word of advice:

If you receive any job offer/call letter containing the following:

Big, bold text

Obtrusive colour highlights

Crude fonts

Poor spelling

Unbelievable claims

and the word "DEPOSIT" somewhere....

hit the SPAM button! :P

Look if u get mail 4m WIPRO 4 joining in Delhi i.e. their Gurgaon office & i.e. where all the joinings tk place in northern region. if scenario has changed nw thn i dnt knw but im very sure tht it wil nt happen sm place else but yeah u can l8 me knw & i can help u out. :)

! more thing there is no Wipro infotech or wipro technologies nw.
 
Am I being Scammed here?

Today I received a SMS from some messaging server citing that my resume has been selected and I should mail it to "appointment.wipro.13@gmail.com"
Since the mail ID wasn't of an authentic Wipro domain, I still mailed my resume there :ashamed: thinking it might be some consultancy firm recruiting on their behalf. Moreover as I'm hunting for job these days, I'm gullible to these sorts of traps these days.:(
Anyways I mailed my resume to the above said mail ID and I got this mail as an almost immediate response
Dear Applicant,

Ref: - “WIPRO†- Direct Recruitments offer.

It is our good pleasure to inform you that your Resume has been
selected for our new plant. The Company selected 42 candidates list
for IT, Administration and Production Departments, as well as Company
offered you to join as an Executive/Manager post in respective
department. You are selected according to your resume in which Project
you have worked on according to that you have been selected in
Company. The Company is dealing in IT and Electronics manufacturing
business in India The Company is recruiting the candidates for new
plant in Pune..

Your Appointment Process will held at Company HR - office in Pune –
from 27,28th febuary 2010.

You will be pleased to know that Company has advise you in the
selection panel that your Application can be progress to final stage.
You will come to Company HR office in Pune. Your offer latter with Air
Ticket will be send to you by courier before date of interview. The

Now read it and tell me, am I being scammed/phished here cause I think I am, because:

  1. Mail originates from a unofficial source, "mail-pz0-f122.google.com"
  2. The SMS I received and the mail itself has many grammatical and spelling errors.
  3. They are asking for money!:@
  4. They want "Cash Deposit" in a bank whose name I've never heard of that too by today itself.
  5. The said dates are 27th and 28th, which is the weekend. :bleh:
Only the detailed address seems to be genuine but then again, it might be of a shanty shack. :rofl:
Tell me guys what do u think and if its a spam scam, lemme know quick so that I can delete it and create a filter for such bull$hit.

But what will the mod do? Put up the red cape with blue slacks and black vest? No disrespect but even if an undergraduate can't spot the spelling mistakes, email address from gmail, hotmail, etc. rather than wipro and bad grammar and become suspicious, then he will bound to be cheated. Honestly speaking, those Nigerian scams are more convincing than this wipro scam :bleh:- atleast they don't have so much spelling and grammar mistakes. Difference is people across the world fall for Nigerian inheritance scam, whereas mostly Indians fall for this wipro scam.

Forget anything else that is in the email. Getting an immediate response = automatic feedback mailer = spam.

Within seconds of sending your resume, you get appointed for a job? LOL :rofl:

I wish it were that easy :P
 
I doubt anyone from TE will fall for this trap, maybe we should post it on sites/forums where jobs are discussed like freshersworld.com and similar websites. Since the account number is given, the owner can be easily traced and caught right? or can the owner of the account get away? I mean while opening an account we do give proofs like passport, Driving license...

I remember how desperate I was for a job when I finished my certifications and graduation. If these people would have mailed me that time I still wouldn't have paid I would have landed up at Wipro's doorstep which is hardly 6 kms from my place :bleh:
 
I got a mail from TATA Technologies Yesterday... :rofl: Asking for money for interview.... :P

Will update with the File once i get back home.... Seems the scam is Expanding at rapid phase.... :S
 
I do not think any one from a city would fall for this. All most everyone who are educated in Tier 1 & Tier II centres know that these are scams.

However there are people from small towns & Villages who keep hunting for job and possibilities are that they could fall prey for these...

I think wipro scam already made a news here in Chennai last year about it and the news channel published this not to fall prey for such emails. TE Mods can take a look and could spread the message atleast to the entire TE community about it.
