Simple, because one wants 100k while other wants 130k? Does 67% increase matter or 100% increase? And then the announcement of one comes just after the refugee ban hence the relevance of the month period. Zoe Lofgren's bill has more stipulations than the other bill which just hikes up the amount and removes the Master's degree exception. Read both the bills to understand what is the difference. Why has it gone unnoticed that two acts 'Protect and Grow American Jobs Act' and 'High-Skilled Integrity and Fairness Act of 2017' were proposed within a month? It looks to me like Rep. Zoe Lofgren has done her homework thoroughly.
I never would've imagined that both Democrats and Republicans would find common ground with the H-1B issue. Just goes to show how badly this visa category has been abused.
Given that you can't read and like to pull inferences from thin air, welcome to the ignore list. Thanks for the discussion. You've been looking at this picture from the perspective of a Indian IT bloke who wants to successfully apply for a H-1B visa. Rather put yourself in the shoes of an American worker/graduate. Not only do they have to be prepared for the reality that they're replaceable with an overseas employee/student, but they also have to live with the fact that outsourcing dictates what the market pays them.
Me: H1B guy in US. I think I am an idiot as well. 10 years in.. Still have to keep learning stuff to keep pace.
10 years in the US?
