^^ eer ??? Isn't the game running smooth for you ?? I run it at 1280*1024 , maxed .. no vsync .. fps avg.'s around 35-40+ ...and there are very minor fps drops :D ...

The game is awesome .. but definitely not GOTY according to me .. some minor tweaks , and this is definitely a new type of experience !!!

The game is friggin awesome allright... played it on C2D 6800 with 2 GB ram and 2600XT... at 1024*768 i was easily getting 50+ FPS at medium settings... :D

Installing it at home will let you know how it works.. :)

Yeah, thats why I had written that the game is running at playable FPS even though I had not thought so before playing the demo. But that doesnt change the fact that the game is stressing my 1900XT to the max.

The Engine is scalable, but at the same time being a next gen engine, hardware which is two generations old will not be able to cope with it.

Still no hands on the game or the demo

Why not the demo ...?? :S

I have err :ohyeah: already downloaded the *ahem* copy of the game. :P. Will buy the legit game will it becomes free of problems and available in India.

LOL, for the first time it makes more sense downloading a game than buying it, thanks to the silly install-limit :P

Well.. 2K games have mentioned they will remove the activation system sometime in future!! need to see wen it happens!!

I would not like to buy the game before that as i am a collector...

Also as now it is cracked they will probably remove the limited activation...

Same here. I will buy the game when they remove the silly restrictions.

Also the copy protection they use is Secure Rom which is seen as the worst implementation of copy protection (In the user user privacy and security aspects and not its effectiveness) second only to Star Force. Many publishers who used Star Force in their games had to hastily remove the same.

I don't see why they even bother to go to such lengths for protecting their game. Its not going to stop piracy as theres always a crack going to be released. They just put off even the legitimate buyers who would otherwise have bought the game.

Not really. you guys missing the point, BioShock's SecuROM was tough enough that none of the usual release groups (RELOADED, FAiRLiGHT, HATRED, PROCYON etc) were able to crack it. BioShock wasn't cracked after 1 week of the release, during which BioShock sold like hot cakes and 2K made most of the money. the annoying online activation wasn't implemented to stop piracy (in this day and age, copy protection will get cracked regardless of how hard it is. there's no lack of talented decompilers/coders in this world and certainly not in the release groups) but it was implemented to delay the Scene release. simple as that. every game company knows they can't fight piracy. as far as putting legitimate buyers off is concerned, people who want to buy the legit copy will buy it regardless of piracy. Piracy doesn't influence a legitimate customer, if you WANT to buy something, you will.

The point is that without the silly restrictions they would have sold even more copies. Most of the copies which sold out are Pre-ordered copies and the people who bought did not know about the silly installation limit. Many people did not buy or canceled their orders after the Installation limit fiasco came out. Despite the game being brilliant, 2k Games lost many orders because of these restrictions.

Also the use of Secure ROM was a major cause for concern among many people. Secure ROM is supposed to be a security risk to the system. Many consider it to be a Root Kit because of the way it operates. Also once installed it does not get removed even after you remove the game. Even the demo version of Bioshock has Secure ROM and it not Un-installed even after you uninstall the game.

With matters like these. one really wishes there was some universal source of knowing game sales.

Industry veteran, Ken Levine, also BioShock’s lead designer, chimed into that debate and cleared the doubts about the future and the activation system for BioShock. Speaking with Joystiq, Levine pointed out that the online activation system will only be available during the period of time the game is “really hot and there are people really trying to find ways to play the game without buying it.†After that period, a patch will be issued allowing the game to be installed without online checks. This information should put that part of the debate to ease.

hmmm, anyone know when Milestone will have the game here? and the pricing? I surely hope they don't stick a Rs.1,999-2,999 Pricetag like they did with many [previous] premium titles.

SecuROM is a Rootkit but not the malicious kind.

Well people who don't wish to spend money on games are not going to buy the legit version just because a particular game has a tougher protection. No protection is strong enough and it will be broken if not in a day, maybe in a week. They will sit tight till a crack for the game is developed.

On the other hand, I know at-least 10~15 people on these and other Indian forums alone where people postponed their decision of purchasing a legit version myself included. Thats a loss of 10~15 customers on these forums alone. I have also come across people who have canceled orders on 2k Forums, WSGF and some other places. Even people who want to buy the legit version are not bothered about the use of Secure ROM, but about the Install limit.

They may still be making a lot of purchases because there will always be people who don't mind such problems. But the fact remains that they lost may customers because of the silly restrictions and they definitely did not get more customers because of the restrictions.

The more likely price tag is 1299 (if not lesser) at the worst 1499 as is common for most premium titles these days. It will definitely be not more than that. I know only one PC Game which carries a price tag of more than 1499. That is Rise of Legends and it costs close to 2000 bucks.

Secure ROM Itself may not be malicious, but the problem is such softwares have very high Kernel level privileges and hackers can find weak spots or loop holes and take advantage of them. Thats where the security risk comes from. Secure ROM has always been buggy even in its intended operation, Who knows what kind of loop holes it may have.

Levels and enemies do .. but with loads of weapons , special powers and interactable environments , its doesn't get repetitive at all ..
