May be normal in a place like j&k. It's out of the ordinary elsewhere in the country.

This needs more probing as to funding, whether its coming from abroad as in next door.

Communal commotion isn't what i'm thinking. Been done to death and does not work very well.

Political turmoil is more like it. That's the bigger prize

Wonder what the other "non essential" items are. I wonder how it is an import if sellers and buyers are both Indian? Are they losing so much money on such trivial things that they need to curb it? Stupid bean counters. They should ban construction of stupid statues and memorials first instead of running after such small things.

Are you sure? As far as I know premium drinks like JW, Absolut, Bombay Sapphire are not bottled here and they are imported. They only need to comply with the FSSAI regulations to show the ingredients on the bottle.

i know scotch and champagne would be exempt for this rule as they have a geographic specific component (like basmati rice) but i might me mistaken about the other two since i live in TN and we have even stricter liquor rules here. I'll keep an eye out for the info if i come across a JW or absolut. I know all the bacardi, smirnoff, etc. are brewed and bottled in India (at least all the bottles i've seen) but that could just be because they are mass-market items.

Stupid govt has spent 100k crore on that failure of a scheme called Mnrega, which didn't help anyone except lining their pockets. Now, they will spend few more thousand crores on food security after it gets passed. I am so pissed off by this corrupt govt :mad::

It is weird that the thread title is that "BJP can do course correction".

This is the course they have always wanted to set. There is nothing they want to correct. This is the path they always wanted us to be on.

The arent accidental inheritors of the British Divide and rule policy. It is by design.

So anyone criticising certain actions by the goverment must belong to a certain community huh???

At least you are honest and upfront about your bigotry which some other more sophisticated people are better at masking.

Modi managed to interest a large chunk of our educated youth in 2013-14 in politics with his hopes and dreams for a better future after all the corruption of the UPA government. I also got swept up in those dreams and voted for Modi the first time around.

But then I saw the mishandling of demonetization and GST and day by day our GDP going down which was his basic promise to us. I also cheered for the ban of the talaq law which in my opinion is unconstitutional. The law should be the same for all citizens of a secular country.

Supporting a leader is human nature as we all look up to someone who can lead us to a better future. But blind fanboyism where every criticism is taken as a personal affront is not going to imporve our lot. We have to keep in mind that as voters we are consumers of a government. If they deliver value and hold up to their promises we vote for them/ buy their products or else we criticize their failures.

Never ever equate a nation with a party since the sole interest of any party is to hold on to power by hook or by crook. Churchill didn't say that democracy is the least worst form of goverment for nothing.

But now that they have not managed to deliver on the baseline promises they have gone back to their fallback position which is divide and rule. All issues with their management of the nation's growth can be camouflaged with this us vs them mentality.
