Blue Screen of Death

^ ya ... get BIOS version 1.B .. your processor is supported since version 1.4

As per the doc, you need to run this

AFUD4310.EXE A7519IMS.1B0

then as per doc ... you should get option to save your current bios

I flashed the bios using version 1.4 would re-flash again using 1b0
but no I didn't get any option to save old bios while doing the flash, perse,
it was good that I had saved the old bios.
And as exams were over, had a little discussion with my compsci friend.
Then decided to do things in a sequential manner:
1.) I installed vista..wa crashing still
2.) flashed the bios..no change
3.)removed one memory stick(1),removed sound card,disable on-board sound,network card and usb also..was crashing still...
4.) swapped with the other memory stick(2),,crashes were even more horrendous, crashing even before the os could load.
5.)did a memory test of stick(2)..started get errors on 8th test of memtest--1st pass...total errors 180+
6,)swapped with memory stick(1) ..started memtest...no errors in 1st pass.
Now there is one thing that baffles me;;When I did the memtest with both rams fixed ,,I got zero errors 2-3 days back:mad:
7.) now using only stick(1) on ubuntu live cd,,,placed every thing else back and enabled them.
Now before I sleep:S
1.)will re-flash bios to the latest version.
2.) will do a format and install windows 7 again...
3.)hoping that since I found the culprit RAM stick,,things would work again!!!

^ great news :) .. yeah memtest takes a lot of time but it's worth doing when such issues come

Hope your culprit RAM stick is in warranty ... best of luck :D

yes it's in warranty.
But the problem ain't solved yet.
Flashed to the latest bios version 1.1b as you had said.
installed win 7(using only one ram stick) but as I had said earlier,,even this one was crashing with vista,,,earlier tonight.only that other one was crashing badly and memtest did prove it's fault.
so,when I did fresh install of win7...programs started to crash again.and then another BSOD
I guess this,ram stick(the memtest-passed one) also is nearing it's life...
or may be the problem is something else,,,I dunno...

how could that be possible.
after bios updates ,,optimized loads are loaded.
SO,I don't think ram would be overclocked.And I didn't do overclock ever.
Still, how can that be changed whether ram is at reference voltage,,,how do I get to know the reference voltage of my ram

Iam currently using Ubuntu 9.04
even that doesn't boot every other time, some times it takes 2-3 times to finally boot successfully into it.but when it does, neither does any process crash nor does ubuntu crash itself, for hours and hours together.
in my first boot attempt today I got these errors while ubuntu was booting:
1.) Aborted because junk in compressed archive
2.) crc error
3.) Kernel painc-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (0,0)
I did a long self-test using smart tools(this long -test for HDD lasted 176 minutes) and gave 0 errors.
could some one suggest me a better-fool proof test for memory, not memtest!

Latest Update:
Now even ubuntu 9.04 wouldn't start.
it boots and as soon as the desktop is displayed the system hangs..poof!!!
I don't know what's the problem,now:mad:
as I did memtest again on this ram stick(the "OK" one)
and still zero errors,,,

Here's a story and i don think it relates to your poblem. But have a look at it

Microsoft investigates Windows 7 'screen of death'

Microsoft has confirmed that it is investigating a problem described as the "black screen of death", which affects its latest operating system.

The error means that users of Windows 7 see a totally black screen after logging on to the system.

^^^that's unrelated.

Installed ntfs4dos ( a utility developed by Avira) to checkdisk..
But it says two files are missing command.com(that can be found out) but what about autochk.exe
also tried loads of other usb boot utilities but they didn't work...
But I had already done a 3 hour long smart tools long test on HDD and it gave 0 errors..
I ,,too don't think it's the hDD at fault,,then WTF is????

Summary"
1. win 7 crashed last to last sunday
2. did a repair,no good.'
3. did an upgrade,no good.
4. did a fresh install,no good.
5. Got hell lot of BSOD errors on win 7,scroll some pages back to check the dumps,
6. did a memtest with both ram sticks,0 errors.
7. updated bios to latest version,no good.
8. formatted and installed vista,,still crashing
9. removed one ram stick, did a memtest returned 180+ errors.
10. swapped with other ram,did memtest returned 0 errors,
11. installed win 7 again,with just 1 ram stick,,good one.crashed in half an hour.
12. installed ubuntu 9.04..was working fine for hours together.
13. Did a three hours SMART tools long test for HDD..0 errors.
14. ubuntu would give some kernel errors(scroll back) and would boot successfully after 2 attempts.
15. then ubuntu installed some upgrades, and system would hang on the very instant, ubuntu showed desktop.
16. did a memtest again on the single ram stick that iam using, got 0 errors again.
17. currently booting through Ubuntu Live CD,but even that would hang,,fail to boot some times.
18. Iam pissed off,wtf should I do???

sorry bt i didnt read all i read only summery.

so m pretending this is desktop

try this

1.Remove all hardware like lan card sound card or graphic card.

even extra usb port front pannel run open setup.

2.remove cpu use normal air pump and clean all MB stuff.

3.install all things then try installing winxp.

give a try it sud work, other wise u can try 4 2nd pair of H.D.D. or Ram.

and also one thing some times it can b rear bt check ur SMPS.

However this just may be a guess ... but try running your system without UPS .. just once and let us know if it hangs

1. lan card is on-board.tried by disabling it through bios,no change.
Graphic card,,don't have onboard.So can't remove.
usb port, tried by disabling it through bios.

2.didn't try using air pump.done the other mobo cleaning.overalll the system is quite clean, considering routine checkups.but can't say about ram connectors, cpu socket, etc,

3.winxp,,huh..heck I've even tried ubuntu,,,the minimalistic OS.

4. tried some one else's RAM..no good.

5. nOW,the only thing that I didn't want to do before.
Will go to the local computer shop and considering that he has various hardware to swap,,would get everything checked in front of myself...don't trust his credibility and capability!

1.) did memtest for 3hours,7pass.0 errors.
So,Now I know for sure that this RAM stick ain't at fault.
2.) so the chances of failure in their order should be HDD>Mobo>GPU>CPU>sound Card
3.) time to visit local computer shop.

Installed windows xp after a format.
Worked fine for few minutes, then fiefox, gtalk crashed.and then BSOD started again!
Did 3 stage chkdsk on all three partitions using a DOS-boot based utility...
On One partition checkdisk gave error,,"could not start because the Master File Table" is corrupt.
Did Defragmentation using the dos utility on all the partitions...lost some data(movie files were chopped) on the corrupt MFT partition(hence freed space) and also freed space on another partition..hopefully would have lost some chunks of some other movies too(didn't check that)
Going to backup data,.,then would go to the local computer shop.

------SOLVED------

I went to the local computer shop, few days back.

Found out that "both" of my RAM sticks are at fault as the system would restart and wouldn't boot into the OS with my RAM sticks...

------SOLVED------

Have to get my RAM modules replaced.Does transcend have manufacturer's warranty alike WDC's D2D or else Iam sending them to my dealer today itself..

or do you guys recommend buying new ones.If yes please suggest some good ones..maybe those with heatsink,,5 years warranty or maybe Server Grade RAMs...As my system is put to rigorous use 16x7...with it being used as a mediaserver by my friends for accessing various stuff...HD mostly!

Now, this means that memtest is not reliable???? Even after hours of testing, you will be getting 0 errors and since you place your bet on memtest, you are always groping in the dark. Sucks!! Any alternative to memtest?

NOW THERE's A NEW PROBLEM:

I have got new RAM sticks,so they are not at fault/

tried in other slots also.and with someone else's RAM stick also.

Tried with a different CMOS battery and reset the CMOS jumper .

But the condition now is:

1.) NO DISPLAY

2.) NO light in keyboard and mouse.

3.) Power switch working,SMPS working.

i think this is old thread.
bt u came across the same problem?:S

never mind jst clean all the stuff and install all things without rams stick and cmos and run for 5min idel
and then install both look out for the beep if u got the beep of rams then ur mobo wil start.

i think ur issue is with the No display not BSOD
correct me if im wrong

Yes,mate issue is "NO DISPLAY"
cleaned the ram sticks, the ram slots and the GPU slot and the GPU.
anyway,,will try what you are saying.

PLEASE REPLY as per this: http://www.techenclave.com/operating-systems/there-is-darkness-everywhere-157653.html#post1387402

I HOPE THE BSOD ERRORS ARE NEVER GOING TO STOP:
------------------PLEASE NEGLECT PREVIOUS POSTS AND READ THIS----------
1.)
I was playing Arkham Asylum on windows 7 Professional x64
when the display just went off while still in the game, though I could hear game sounds for some while and then the sound would get stucked(similar to when systems hangs) and then Restart

2.) After restart saw that no display though the keyboard was responding.
And I saw that "TEMP Control LED" on my HD4850 GPU was glowing red continuously.

3.) after leaving the system switched off for few hours.
When I would switch on the system it would go into an endless Restart Loop
Now this is the most irritating problem,,,which happens at random...though usually it would happen when my system would remain switched off for weeks together,,,and I used to think it could be due to dust and humidity.
But,
this happened a week ago and after two-three attempts the display would turn on and the system would work properly.
And so it happened today,,
after 3-4 attempts the display lit up and since then all izz well...

I will post the dumps of the BSOD errors that occurred while gaming...that is wrt point(1)

I would try by downloading latest ATi drivers, but this is not the first time iam playing this game...
and considering point.(3) above
and since I already got new RAMs and Mobo RMA'd
I hope it's not time for GPU Replacement!?!?!?!?!
