Head First - Servlets and JSP, the best. Don't look around just go n get it.
Ain't that book too much oriented towards getting through the sun certification? i had once quicly glanced through the book and didn't find it too useful from a practical point of view. However, their presentation methodology is good.

@Triad
I would recommend you to go for Core Servlets and JSP by Marty Hall (second edition?). Get the one that covers servlets 2.3/2.4 and JSP 2

^^psynaps3 - is the book geared more towards beginners/advanced learners or is it well balanced?

I do have some experience in asp and on the .net platform but am unexperienced in servlets/jsp department...

Any other votes / suggestions ??

Its pretty well balanced. There is volume 2 of the book which covers advanced topics including JSP custom tags, Struts, Connection pooling and more.
