BRINK - Discussion Thread

Re: So anyone played BRINK?

Hey I just pre-ordered DIRT-3. You guys are scaring me. Is it OK to pre-order games whose reviews are already out and are really good?

Re: So anyone played BRINK?

I heard it was going to be a terrible game much before the reviews were out, and so it happened.

Pre-ordering games can be a bit of a disappointment at times. Weeks long wait and then you're unhappy with the game. :-(

Re: So anyone played BRINK?

I was thinking about installing Brink but guess not after going through this thread... too bad they made a botched game.

Dirt 2 got 9.0, shit game really shit(cuz I had to play it on my friend's PC, it wont work on mine no matter what bottle I unscrew), shit handling, it's just not my type.

:Lets just say, the only racing games I like are Trackmania Nations Forever and NFS Hotpursuit type(even to some extent Split Second, nice game). Grid, Dirt, Shift(1 was okay, 2 sucked ass) they are just not my type

I thought the gameplay would be like that of Borderlands but this just sucked ... it was such a let down . Very disappointing .
Why did u expect the game to be like borderlands? lol If u had expected it tobe like tf2 then thats acceptable..but borderlands ..hehe..

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Except for the AI, I found this game pretty decent well worth above 7.0..Although didnt try mp..

Performance was good too..Got an average of 60-70fps at 1680x1050 all maxed out except shadows mid and Ambient occlusion off..

When I turn ambient occlusion on fps drops down form 80s to 45s..:p

here's where i was left dumbstruck. I found a 5fps drop only, and from the beginning I was getting about 55-60fps albeit everything else at max

You need to practice a bit to master the controls in DiRT. Not ever game has a NFS style controls. :)

oh man it's really hard for me to get impressed by a game i swear. i've been addicted, really addicted to very very few games(list on demand) ever, rest aren't that good.

I loved Grid a lot! Dirt 2 was decent.

NFS has become nothing but shit. Hot Pursuit was okayish, but it's so easy! It gets boring very soon. That being said, I rarely ever finish a racing game, always leave it halfway. :p

Dam the last few posts got me confused

with the Dirt 3 thread. :p

Anyways, it's sad with the kind quality of games being released for PC. :(

Re: BRINK - Game Discussion

Here's the big list:(I'll start from the beginning)

1. AOE II: The Conquerors

2. Rise Of Nations

3. Re-Volt

4. Trackmania Nations and then Forever

5. Team Fortress 2

6. Counter Strike Source(2005-2008)

7. Fifa 08(I only played 08, a LOT, then I got bored of future versions)

8. Crysis(playing around in the mod maps, amazing visuals, love it)

9. Left 4 Dead(love it!)

10. Mass Effect series

11. NFS Hot Pursuit reboot

BAd Company 2 may be good looking, but the story wasn't all that good, i actually felt lethargic playing that game, but the visuals got me interested.

I played Fallout 3 for a long time, but then I started getting sick of the same muddy textured rocks everywhere.

Stalker COP was scary, in DX11 oh man night time is scary as shit, the game was good, but the bugs made it unplayable.

Anno 1404, man such promise, but I found as I kept on playing that it's wyayyyyyyyyy toooooo repetitive.

UT 1999 was soo much fun, UT3, lets just say any Unearl Engine 3 based game makes me feel dizzy and sick(it's the engine and it's output environment, as well as the HIGE SIZED characters and pathetic textures, yuck)

I think all you guys are bored by now. (more on demand)

Re: BRINK - Game Discussion

Marked absence of RPG's. I guess you are not the 300 hr type :)

AOE Conquerors was absolutely smashing, I learned more history from that game than I did in one entire year of school :D

(Complete the list before mods ban us for trolling :p )

yeah, wudn't waste away my life like that

they wont, we are adding very crucial knowledge to this thread, giving value to a dead Brink thread.

Re: BRINK - Game Discussion

Guys, Brink is F2P for the weekend on Steam. I am aware of all the issues you guys posted in this thread so my expectations levels are realistic. Downloading it to see whats its like.

Quick question - are their any Dedicated Servers available close by with decent ping that are not country restricted?

Or is this one of those "create your own server and invite your friends" kind of game?

Although I understand this is primarily a MP game, is SP fun or is it a complete waste of time?

Ricky, any thoughts on the game? :p

Personally did not bother with it since it had several issues and resembled TF2. Besides, this is ideally suited for folks who are into MP gaming.

Hey Gannu.

Didnt get far enough to try it out. I headed over to the Steam forums for Brink to see what issues are still present and decided it just wasnt worth it. The game is apparently still a mess. Connection errors, Lag (in SP mode believe it or not), CTD's, Game launch failures - you name it.

I aborted the download at 51%.....

Oh crap! Paid for it and couldn't download it completely. Nvm there are always better titles than Brink. :)

*RESPECT to a legit gamer*
