can we get the 3G dongles working on WDTV Live USB port somehow ?

You can try connecting and check the shell logs. I suppose you are using a 3rd Party Firmwares? See if its getting detected as a modem.

ASUS RT-N16 works very well with the help of DD-WRT and it will automatically re-connects with in 10-15 secs :)

Thats good to know. Ya with DDWRT atleast you have better control. The modem connects fine on my Tenda 3G Router but reconnections doesn't work at all. :(

You are not alone! :P It depends on the tower etc. The place where I stay in Chennai, sometimes it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting all the time whereas for my friend who stays about 15 Km away from my place has much lesser disconnections, maybe once in two hours.

Both E122 and the modem supplied by BSNL are acting crazy. E122 connects and is stable till I initiate download when I try starting the download it fails whereas the BSNL 3g modem just blinks red light and is not getting recognized...I m not sure what that red light blink means

I think the USB hot fix thing will solve your issue. Someone else can confirm.

Nope raksrules tried that long time ago worked OK till yesterday morning from evening the BSNL modem disconnected in a min or 2 today the red light issue, when I tried the E122 it works fine and connection stays live till i start downloading when I initiate the download it disconnects right away

No disconnects at all during last 12 hours not even once :D

Speeds are lower though at arnd 2.4 Mbps average

Phew! Glad to hear the disconnections are low. So these are unrelated to the modem or the system. Perhaps the tower has something to do with this?

*fingers crossed* :ashamed:

^^ Ya seems it was some temporary issue which lasted only for a day here in bangalore....seems fixed for good ...that also w/o much complaints :)

^[OT]You better be registering yourself with BSNL as some customer care personnel. :P They'd gladly pay you as well. [/OT]

Well the matter is solved here in bangalore.. Bt can anyone explain the sudden bursts in speed that ive posted in the other thread??

The disconnection problem has started again. Mine gets disconnected after 1 or 2 minutes. Anybody else facing this problem again???

thats a common problem with both Windows vista/windows 7
Unfortunately the hotfix provided by microsoft does not work as well...

I am double booting both Vista and XP for that simple reason only , to use bsnl 3G without disconnecting

Hey guys.I am using a BSNL 3g sim with a Huawei E170.Did the recharge of Rs. 4200 on Saturday.Average download speed are 80 KB/s.But I am having a a strange issue.I am connecting thru MDMA.The redial option in windows dialer is set to 99 and 30 sec interval. But after 1 hr or so the connection drops into a limbo .It is shown as connected but nothing is downloaded and no browsing can be done.In that case I manually disconnect and reconnect again.
So I decided to go for the batch file option as suggested by stormer.
This is what i found out
In the cmd window "rasdial bsnl *99# " will connect you to BSNL
but in case of disconnecting if i type "rasdial disconnect bsnl" or "rasdial bsnl disconnect" it throws an error 623-The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection

I created a batch file like this

@echo off
rasdial bsnl disconnect
sleep 30
rasdial bsnl *99#

But I think the disconnect prompt is not working
I am using Bandwidth monitor pro v 3.4 build 757.In the options window I am getting an option to enable notification and run .bat only if downloaded data is more than
X MB but no option to run the .bat if data downloaded in last x minutes is less than y MB
Can someone elaborate on how to do this?
Thanx in advance

Marcus , i am using windows 7, also MDMA and a dial up connection which is set to auto redial in 1 sec on disconnection. I have not faced any issues and it has worked fine. Though i am getting very low speeds from yesterday and browsing is also slow. But no problems like disconnection or challenges in redialing. Try and see if there is a new firmware for the modem. Also if it was working fine earlier did u change anything on the system.

Nope no changes at all. This is happening since yesterday when I bought the modem.Do u guys think I shud exchange the modem for the BSNl triband @2500
