Budget 51-70k Budget 60-70K For Rendering and Gaming

2. And for the PSU can I use a 600w PSU not the 650W?
3. And the storeguy did not recommend a CPU cooler - do you still suggest adding the cooler?

Here are your answers vertigo --
  • best not to compromise on this component, stick with the Corsair TX v2650W you will not regret this choice.
  • No need as you are not over-clocking. If temperatures seem high, you can get some third-party thermal paste, clean your processor, reseat it and this should sort out your problems.
Hope this helps, Cheerio!

For mobo you should go for ASUS P8H77-M-8.4k since H77KC isn't available.you can get it shipped from flipkart,The B75 mobo will cut few things which H77 will offer.ASUS ASUS P8H77-M Motherboard | Motherboard | Flipkart.com

What does the B75 based motherboard not offer that the ASUS H77 based motherboard offers?

In-fact the after sales reliability of Intel should count as a plus towards going for that. The Intel DH67-BL is available online too (for a cheaper rate http://www.flipkart.com/intel-dh67bl-motherboard/p/itmd2ryngdsq2ye5?pid=MBDD2RYMQGHE2YRH&ref=869b8d3e-1d96-437f-addf-7390d125c4bf) and will do just fine with @vertigo's setup.

Not much difference but few more Sata 6gbps slots and USB 3.0 ports,Any mobo from above would be good.

Until OP is not using SATA III SSD's I find that SATA III hard-drives plugged into SATA II ports perform just the same. In fact my Western Digital Green 1TB [SATA III compatible] chugs along fine on the SATA II port it is plugged into.

I missed this thread completely.

What's emerging out here is a new revelation to me - the B75 Express Chipset and the "Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H" for just 4.8K ..... WOW. What's also amazing about this board is that it comes with a DisplayPort (I don't think there is any other H77 or Z77 board at this price point with this feature)
.... the other bonuses are

  • High-level of performance.
  • Very low cost.
  • Full-fledged dual UEFI BIOSes, with support for 3TB+ drives.
  • Low power consumption, matching designs far more complex
all in all - excellent for OP's rendering purposes, the comparitive cost difference over a Z77 board could be over 6-7K !!!

Why has it been ignored all this while beats me. Although Intel developed this specifically for "Small Business Manageability & Performance" - which means it's a robust & rock steady one...... it can also be used by anyone else for almost anything (especially when OC and an ATX form factor is not important).

Perhaps the only drawback is it's low memory speeds - Support for DDR3 1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules (To support DDR3 1600 MHz, you must install an Intel 22nm CPU )

Here are some excellent reviews about this gem - Gigabyte B75M-D3H Intel LGA 1155 Review | techPowerUp / GIGABYTE B75M-D3H Review with Small Business Advantage

Cheers

EDIT: Error : this board does not have Displayport - the model that has it is GA-B75M-D3P ...... apologies, thanks @cranky

Thanks guys. Per recommendation I'll stay with the 650w psu and drop the cooling fan. But trying to keep it in budget by balancing what I need vs cost - I think I'll go for the B75 Mobo from Gigabyte. I feel it may serve my purpose.

Apparently I can't add to Jakob's or Alpha17's rep points because I need to credit a few others first :happy26:

Yes the GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H is perfect for your needs. If Bhumika Peripherals have this SMPS, you can go for this one too instead of the Corsair TX v2650W --> Seasonic S12II 520W ~3900/- [the price can be as high as ~4500/-].

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Rough Config:

CPU: i7 3770
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
RAM: RipjawsX 8 GB F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
GPU: Sapphire 7870 OC 2 GDR 5
HDD: ??
CAB: Corsair 500R
MON: Dell 23 IPS
DVD: Asus DVD
PSU: Corsair 650W TX
CPU COL: CM H

HDD still not decided. Which brand to go for ? They are very expensive nowadays :bomb:. And Looks like i will go for the Gigabyte Mobo one as suggested instead of the intel one. This rig will cost me approx 85_87K :( How is the Coolermaster Hyper TX3 EVO CPU cooler? It's cheaper than the 212 EVO.

Instead of the Corsair Carbide 500R, go for its younger sibling the 400R.

Also you do not need a CPU cooler per-se, buy one only if you find temperatures skyrocketing out of hand. Even then I recommend that you go for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. The Hyper TX3 will not be as good because it has a smaller fan --92mm and I doubt these can be put into push-pull configuration without increasing the noise to prohibitive levels.

Rest the RIG is all clear, go ahead with the purchase. Cheerio!

It does not.

Confound it you are right .... my mistake (I must have check some other variant of the B75 of Giga's 6 models). Because this one has the Displayport option - GA-B75M-D3P (although i do not know of its local availability or pricing but it would definately be at least 1K higher) & here's a comparision of the two GIGABYTE- I found some useful information and would like to share with you

Of course unless one plans to use it (Displayport) it does'nt really matter ..... as your monitor too needs to have support

UPDATE: So i bought a new wooden table for my future RIG and went to Lamington road for price quotation :)

@Ei8t you are being short-changed for the SSD's. They are much too cheap as well as I suspect they will be older variants with the Sandforce driver on them; Avoid those, rest of the prices are in line.

Think about it and get whichever deal is better in your opinion (get the OCZ Vertex4 128GB SSD ~8000/- from onlySSD.com).

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

@Ei8t Why didn't you get quotes from primeabgb and Theitwares?,They are reliable and would've given you good quotes,You would've gotten a discount on few components as festival discounts are going on.Also Don't buy anything from Mahavir,They're not reliable.

As i already know the prices of the components through their website. Enlighten me regarding the festival discounts part?Fortunately I never had a bad experience with Mahavir Electronics (run by 2 Bro's) .

The local quotes can be slightly less than online so you should take a look before you buy,The Ganpati festival is going aroung so usually at diwali or these festivals there are some discounts on components. It's your choice where to buy from,I've pointed out my view,Cheers.
