Hi I want a no frills budget laptop my drother...graphics nd all are not important...Only that it should last for twa years(I mean should be reliable). Have not decided on the budget...Less than 35 k would be good...Please suggest any laptops in that range.

Thanks

Spend a bit more and get the DELL 640M for 39K..Totally worth it for the price you pay and should last you the next 2 years easy.. :)

You may also look at some of Acer's offerings with a Turion X2 ~ 37-38K

I can get you a nice, decent HP Note book with one year warranty for 36,250+tax. Intersted?
AMD Mobile turion 1.6ghz/512MB/DVDcombo/40gb/15"
Will definately last more than two years.

I can also search for more cheaper laptops if you are genuinely interested.

Sorry is that mother or brother? :|

:bleh: My brother actually...(he is or rather will be) a journalist..Joining job in a few days...So a basic one :):)

And I would want it to be available in Bangalore...No buying online or things of that sort...

Please keep the suggestions coming....

Can vouch for the dell 640M. Insane value for money. I got one about 6 months back. Specs - 1.66 Ghz C2D CPU, 1 gig , 8x dvd-rw, 14.1' 1440 900 ultrasharp screen, 80 gig SATA drive.

Bought it for 32k that time. Worth every single penny.

:) Am going for the dell 640m though thinking of looking at acer stuff also....

Is it beneficial as of now to be going for vista or it is better I take the laptop only with DOS?

Any other laptops in that range(can anyone mention a few acer models?)

Also for Bangalore guys any place where I can actually look at a few models(shops for laptops)

Thanks
Raj

:) How much of a diff does it make if I use an amd turion proccy or a core solo proccy..the laptop has to be a budget one and it's main use will be non intensive tasks like word processing xls sheets :bleh: and movies and songs :)

Please experts reply

Like AMD4Life mentioned if you have a choice of the Turion X2 and Core solo, go ahead with the Turion X2 as a dual core is always better in the long run especially with operating systems like Vista making utilization of dual cores..

Go ahead with the Core solo if only u have plans to upgrade the processor later to a Core 2 Duo.

:) Hi I had time yesterday to roam around Bangalore...am leaning towards an acer model now

Intel Core 2 Duo (5500)

1 GB Ram (DDR2 533)

14.1 inch screen

Card reader + PCMCIA slot

Integrated Bluetooth

Carry Case included

Other common stuff like 3 usb's etc :bleh:

All this for 42640 all inclusive...

Any better suggestions please let me know

edit: Has the 950 GMA chipset and no OS
