Hi guys,

recently i brought asus x53u laptop . whenever i place my nose near exhaust i smell burning smell from it . should i contact asus or is it normal . temp. remain between 45-52 except when i play HD movie or game temp reach 58C

Chill....the burning smell (if it's faint) is normal in new electronics. As long as the laptops not acting up, don't worry.
If you're feeling concern, then back-up your important data, and don't leave it on unattended. The burning smell (again--if it's faint) should stop after a while.
In the meantime relax, enjoy your new purchase. It's under warranty, so no need to worry.

And stop sniffing your newest playthings exhaust!

 well can't stop my self from sniffing

actually its third day its still coming not that much high it was first day but still if you keep you nose near exhaust you can smell . how long does it take to vanish ?

already have put complaint on toll free number they say person will visit my home soon to check laptop

AFAIk such smell is common with a new laptop or electrical peripherals. Still lets see what the technician observes beneath.

^ maybe a week time will wear off the fragrance, it all depends on your usage.

When the laptops are manufactured, they are not used for long. so the PCB components are quite new. later when customers use those, the PBC and the other electronic components use to warm and release those smell.

As said by by other members, if its OK with the laptop then there is nothing to worry. Lets wait for the technician verdict :)

i have been using it non-stop since this saturday only gave it brake at night . just loving this laptop great battery for its size and dam lighter . just need to put more RAM and its good to go

actually i never noticed burning smell in my asus g73(but another reason could be rear exhaust so might haven't noticed ) well i already complained let see what the guy has to said .

Yes its a fragrance. It can be better experienced if you bought a new car and within 2-3 days you take it to its top speed and then open the bonnet and you get the smell as if somethings burning and coolant not working etc etc. but relax. Its just getting adopted to your usage slowly. I have experienced such fragrances from hdds, mobos, cellphones, car engines, latops-as in your case & tv.

Enjoy your asus smell rather than biting your nail. ;)

oh i see then should i call toll free number and tell them not to send person . BTW i am enjoying this laptop very well . just completed watching non-stop 3 movie though at 3rd movie half way battery gave up :P .
