Hi,
From last several days I'm planning to buy dual-core android phone. There are only handful of dual-core phones available in the market like Galaxy S2,Sensation and Optimus 2X. Out of these only Optimus 2X seems to be affordable(@24.3k).

Lot of TE members may be interested in buying this phone. But there are lots of complaints regarding the phone. So I want to know how many of 2X owners facing problems like reboot, freezing,BSOD(Black Screen of Death) ,Battery Drain etc. Also let us know the specification like

Android version:
BaseBand version:
Kernel version:
Custom Rom Name(if used):
Updates/Patches version:
Phone manufacturing month/year:
Memory Card Capacity,Class,Company:
Purchased from(online/local shop/..etc):

Hope answers to these queries will help future owners of O2X.

I removed the LG bloatware applications (On screen phone, social networking apps, other constantly on staying cr"apps") and I've installed Juice Defender. If I keep data completely off (not even 2G) and use the phone for about 0-1 hour of calls, occasional texting and about 1-2 hours of gaming, I get 2 days easily. This is what happens during weekdays.

However, during weekends, if I'm home and if I have Wi-Fi on and with lots of gaming I get approx 1 day.

I got it for 16k locally in exchange with my old phone, so i think its a decent deal. About the battery life, i guess it will last a day with heavy usage and two days with moderate usage (an estimate, not measured accurately. It is only 2 days old :p)
I am very happy with the phone. Camera is not as good as expected, otherwise it is very good. LG's phone software updater software is simply pathetic! Gave problems at every stage and finally i was not able to proceed with the GB update using it. So, I have upgraded to stock GB manually using smartflash and then rooted the phone. The UI is super smooth on stock GB, no random reboots, crashes or any such other issues so far. Touch screen calibration seems to be off by a couple of millimeters, visible especially while type on portrait keyboard. Will have to find a way to recalibrate it. I will wait for a few more days to check for any small manufacturing defects before flashing some other ROM.
My O2X software update using LG's updater was surprisingly smooth.. used it twice, once to get the stock back and second to upgrade to GB..

Congrats.. Its a good phone.. 16k is a good deal.. Battery would get you through the working day under medium to heavy use.. Put DSP manager from CM if possible.. The phone sounds awesome with it.. Heck, the phone charges in a jiffy as well compared to my S2 which takes ages to fully charge..

@thegame, boogeyman and junk_qwe, Thanks!

This is what i have done with the phone so far:

1. Upgraded to stock GB

2. Rooted it

3. Installed CWM Recovery and took stock ROM backup

4. Installed Bravia Engine mod

5. Installed FPS kernel

6. Removed bloatware using Titanium backup

6. Ran benchmarks (at stock clock speed): Quadrant score: ~2440

Neocore score: ~80 FPS

AnTuTu score: ~5130

Smartbench 2012 score: ~2000 for both productivity and games.

The second core probably comes on when the application needs it. In other times, only the single core must be running to save battery. Even in the quad core beast "Kal-El" (also called NVIDIA Tegra 3), there is a separate fifth core which alone runs when a non-intensive application or nothing is running.

I made a Nandroid backup, performed a full wipe and installed Cyanogenmod 7.1.

It is very robust and modifiable, but battery life seems to have taken a bit of a hit (expected though).

New benchmark scores(all at stock clock speed):

Quadrant : ~2650

AnTuTu : ~5630

Smartbench: ~2300 on productivity index and ~2000 on games index.

Neocore refuses to run for some reason.

All round, around 10% performance increase in benchmarks from stock ROM.

I think there are enough O2x owners in this forum to start a new thread for discussion about this phone, what do you say?

This thread is not titled aptly for that or seem like a proper dedicated one for discussing issues, asking question and giving impressions on ROMs installed. Phones like Atrix, SGS2, Defy etc. have their own threads (heck even the Spice Mi-410 has one, no offence meant). So shall we start a new thread in the 'Mobile phones' section?
