Forerunner
Need some questions answered from Samsung 2233sw users.

1) how is the viewing angle ?

2) if i want to watch tv on it which tv tuner is advisable ? is anyone currently using a particular tv tuner on it ?

3) will i be able to record tv with an external tv tuner box ?
I really really am in love with the Sony Bravia 19"WS LCD monitor which sells for 14k in Croma......I just cant take eyes off it.....everytime I fix upon an LCD monitor I think of getting the Bravia instead....this is so killing.........can't i use the bravia as my computer screen ??? :@ I know there would be some resolution issues and stuff , but then i dont need an out of the world resolution on the screen....confused !

most of the LCD TVs have d-sub input for pc.

the premium u will be paying on TV is for tuner+sounds.

n u cant record using external tuner alone.
there are external tuners which let u record...bt they need to be connected to the pc for their operation...work via usb link n pretty much like internal tuners regarding all other aspects.

i would prefer 2233sw + internal tuner setup if i wanna record TV.

recording tv is not a priority but would be an additional advantage for sure.....is there any tv tuner available which will let me view with the pc off and record with the pc on.....im guessing a usb solution is wat is needed....

Lol spending 14k on a 19" LCD TV is gross! Dell 24inchers've been retailing for 14.5k shipped, where've you been? :P

Dont think that Bravia 19"er has a resolution you find on 19" LCDs - 1440x900. IINM.

No offense meant for S2233W users, but I did hear some bad issues concerning to the model related to mounting the stand and the colors etc. Think backlight bleeding was an issue as well.

Get a good internal TV Tuner as well. :)

@Gannu : So true , I have been doing some reading from morning on this......

issues with mounting on the stand exists....but then thats one off thing , we dont mount and unmount the monitor everyday......again this is something if done in the correct way the problem doesnt occur or can be done easily.....

but several people have mentioned about the backlight bleed issues!.....and thats wat im concerned about...

p.s also the 2233sw doesnt come with the dvi cable

this wants me to fall back on a standard 19" option....

also i know the price of the dell 24" :) but then that doesnt come with speakers / remote / tv connect and a wide range of connect options available on any standard LCD TV.

If u gona spend 14k y dont u go for 24" Dell:S

I got 2233SW and have to agree fixing the stand was kinda a bit problem:@ but U wont be removing stand every next that U will take it as a big problem and regarding Backlight bleeding,I havent experienced anything..even though have read it has this problem but i havent coem across it:P and ya DVI cable not bundled is:no:

just because of the reason i've mentioned above........cause then i have to spend separately on a tv tuner unit.......i had requested VanishingNerd in his thread to arrange for 22" if he could but that wasnt possible in his GO.... else would have got the 22" Dell......besides the point.....i dont have a budget of 14k for this one........

as of now im super confused....worst come to worst i would get a 19" incher......but then i know i would regret for not getting a 22"

i guess i will go to croma and see if they have the 2033sw on display and see whats the mess up with the resolution and stuff.....if its decent enuf for normal usuage would get that........

confused :S

Dude i completely agree wit knoughtyd.

Fixing the stand was a big time issue :@ :@

But after fixing it, it is working fine :hap2: :hap2:
Backlight bleeding..Whats that? :S :S

Never had such exp on my Samsung 2233SW.

DVI cable is not included dude. :( :(

I dont watch movies on my monitor i just play games on it.

But afaik view angles are fine.

:D

And hence its a LCD TV but who'd give a rat's ass to a measly remote, speakers on a LCD TV? No really! :P

A Good TV tuner card'd come with a good remote bundled. Heck, spend something more and you get cheap learning remotes which can control any damn thing. :P

Your best bet is probably the E1909W LCD. Think Rahul @ TITW is a Dell dealer since I've seen his site listing Dell LCDs. Shoot him a mail and get a quote for the LCD. Get a Hauppauge PVR 150 TV tuner (retails for 1.5~2k with the card, remote and receiver).

All said and done, what gfx card do you've?

The Samsung 2233 doesn't come with any of that either :)

the monitor would either run on my rig u see in my siggy with a 8600gt or on my secondary rig which runs with the legendary 6600gt.....i dont think either of them would have issues supporting the monitor :) ........PS. I wont be gaming :)

The Dell E1909W is on street for about ~7.2k

Why not get The Benq if your scarrd of Samsung also you had this good deal on the T220 which is considered to be a good LCD. If viewing angles is what concerns you gtet the Dell eIPS.

the dealer who offered me the deal on the T220 mysteriously disappeared. Not answering on mail or on telephone.....I guess he realized what he quoted wasnt correct after i told him I would take 5 of those from him ....

Which Benq model are you talking about ? the Benq T2200 HD ? the E2200HD is again out of budget.......

@rocky_pratik : u gotta help here please !.....

another issue considering the Benq would be the "after sales service" of dell....anyone has had prior experience with benq after sales ?

Well well well...

The mounting of the stand on the Samsung 2233SW is as simple as a knife going in butter, but u have to do it the appropriate way as mentioned.
U should put the stand below and push the monitor over it. Dats all...

Whoever feels its a problem while doing it, they either are trying hard to do the wrong way or have put the stand in the opposite direction of what it should be...:P

Colors are always good on the Samsung. Even at Croma, i like the color of the Samsung better than all the others on display. LG ones are real bad when colors are considered...However, dis factor is a completely personal opinion. Colors might look natural to some and to some it might look a little less or a little more...U'll have to judge this by urself while buying the monitor. :)

Backlight bleeding is common in nearly all big screen monitors(not sure about the IPS panels). In TN panels, there is some amount of backlight bleeding always either at corners or below the screen. In Samsung 2233SW, u can see some backlight bleeding when u watch movies with black borders and in complete dark room. Anyway, u r gonna watch the movie not the black borders, ain't it?:bleh:

And this backlight bleeding is not et all noticeable when u watch something in full screen, be it a HD movie or even our tata sky waala television channels...:ohyeah:

So, at the end, for me it doesn't matter.

If u want to spend a lot, search for the IPS panels(though i think this problem does not depend on the panel type) or for the ones which have less bleeding.
For most, it won't matter et all...
Overall the colors are good, the contrast is excellent, looks are good, viewing angles are enuf for anybody watching with just someone else and not with a whole lotta people...:P And the looks of the monitor can kill any model in the 22" category...

Come on, what more would anybody need...:cool2:

But at the end, the bigger the screen , the more is the fun...So, if ur budget permits go for the 24" models...:hap2:

i've almost narrowed down on the dell 19" when this post comes and makes another impact :P .....infact now others are telling me not to go in for the 22" and why need such a big monitor....im not a big movie buff.....mostly i would see are the 700mb rips....and wont be having heavy gaming too.....so again......the 700mb rips would really look messy on the 22" wont they.......i know the 10k price is a big + factor and a thing to fall for.....but then what confuses me is am i really going to make use of this......i have been using a 17" square samsung and i never felt the screen was too small for my liking even during movies or even HD's or even when gaming in those times......

right now im posting this from a 15" Samsung CRT where the lcd will come....and trust me the basic usage will be 'web browsing , web browsing and only web browsing' and rarely! movie watching say once a month only....there is already a 21" TV which sits RIGHT NEXT to the PC. So I was thinking on going ahead and saving those 3000 odd buks for something better in the future to come.............

i guess the 22" will be more of a impulsed buy!
