PC Peripherals Can any of you tell me what is this - please refer pic

This thing is supplied along with zebronics cabbies. Is this to secure the motherboard to the chassis ?. If so please tell how i can install this ?? Also tell me if its very essential...

i think this is to secure your Graphic Card Firmly by Screwing it to Chassis.

PS: this is just my assumption.
 
I think its for securing your cabinet side panel, you can lock the side panel with it...

Not exact but some what similar to the below image.

^ Exactly. It's the provision for locking the side panel. You can screw this to you cabinet's back and there would be a slot in the side panel through which this goes. Just put a lock through the hole in this thing and nobody without your key can open your Cabinet!

[Workstations in my previous company used to have this with locks :D]

It is for securing the grafix card only..
its there in my CM cabinet as well...

Even i thought the same. But do i have to use a small screw because none of the screws which r supplied along with the chassis fit into the hole of this one. Can u plz take a snap of that part and post it ?...
 
It's just random nuts & bolts that manufacturers like to bundle with their products to scare customers into thinking that they assembled it wrong.

sorry i cannot get the pic of it right now..
but I will try to explain ..
Along with it you might have got one more metal piece looking like a scale.
What that does is, after you insert any card in the pcie slots, this metal plate holds the side of the card and this small metal piece that you showed is used to fasten it. Thus the two pieces hold you card in position.
Hope I sound sensible.
But you donot have the other scale like metal piece then this one is of no use alone.
 
ONE NORMAL METAL PLATE IS SUPPLIED ALONG WITH THE CABBY. But that looks like the plate which comes along with the cabby. Actually if we have used any pci card or any add on card and after that we have removed that plate is used to cover up the cabinet vacant area na?.How can that plate be used for this task ?. Still i am very confused. But is the lock really ?necessary ??
