@coolraghav: Why not :) You did say you were of course gonna buy it, so I was just clarifying a few facts there ;) No harm done to anyone :P

@PartyMonger: I know that. I was just tearing down the statement made earlier about legally buying an using it :bleh: Only way to do that is to get a mac ;)

EDIT: n guys, before askin me to chill do look at all the smileys in my posts to get an idea of how serious I am :ohyeah:

doesn't the whole "tweak it - search for drivers-get patch fixes" routine destroy the very essence of OS X, that things should just work seamlessly and flawlessly?

just my two cents

^^There's no need to search for anything in most cases and once its done no tweaking/patching is required.

The builds are completely patched and suited for variety of hardware.

Actually OS86 should just be considered as a mockup before one plans to get the REAL Thing.

And this infact helps Apple's sales as most people at some point of time go the legitimate way once they get the feel of the things.

On a side note, there's another thing called EfiX when helps installation of Retail Leopard on some selected hardware without using any patching whatsoever.

The Apple Updates work flawlessly too.

Hmm Rahul,

Guides are available but dey look so big that I loose thinkin of installing mac...Seems like Alchemist steps looks good and gonna try it out very soon.

Cheers

@Maestro: Which patched version have you had the most success with, iAtkos or Kalyway?

100% success with Kalyway 10.5.2 on my Intel box. Both Netkas and Vanilla kernels work fine, though the latter takes a few more minutes to install.

100% failure rate on my sister's AMD+Nvidia chipset. Leo4All doesn't work on my Intel (think my dvd is corrupt though)

Use Kalyway's 10.5.2 AMD/Intel SSE3 DVD. Its fully patched and will work out of the box for most hardware.

+1

Kalyway 10.5.2/ Leo4All work perfectly with most configurations, i'm myself using Kalyway build along with XP in Dual boot (both on same HDD) and it works flawlessly, most things worked out of the box but after few initial hiccups.

Dual booting is actually pretty straightforward thing. Here's how to go about it.

1. Make two partitions on your Primary HDD, one for vista/XP and other for leopard.

2. Install Vista/XP first.
3. Incase you have previously installed XP/Vista, skip first two steps and move onto the following.
4. Boot the Kalyway disk, after finishing with the installation successfully, the system will restart and now you will see the Darwin Boot-loader instead of vista's boot-loader as your Leopard partition is automatically set as the active partition.

5. The bootloader will show you various OS's installed on your PC and from there you can select whatever you want to boot.

Not necessarily. I've always received HFS+ partition errors. Though it's been said that the Darwin bootloader is easier, I decided to use Vista's bootloader. Didn't want to muck something up right away. If you decide to use Vista's bootloader, use EasyBCD- it's fairly straightforward. I find booting into Leopard a bit irritating though, takes quite a few steps.

@ Alchemist: Have you tried updating to 10.5.2 to 10.5.x? Is it worth it?

Not necessarily. I've always received HFS+ partition errors.

Lookup Insanelymac, there's a simple guide to fix this.

Haven't tried yet and I've read that its not really worth it if 10.5.2 is working smoothly, though I'll still be giving it a shot soon.

Easiest way to fix HFS+ errors on reboot is:

1. Boot into the Leopard DVD (After the install is complete)

2. Select the Terminal from 'Utilities'

3. Type the following code and hit enter

Code:
Fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0

Where your HDD on which Leopard is installed is disk0 (If it is disk1, then replace 0 by 1 in the code).

Alternatively, use EasyBCD, and select the "Fix HFS+ Error" under the other tasks menu.

What are the chipsets which are known to work flawless with ox86?

Well, among the currently available ones Gigabyte EP35 series boards are regarded as the most suitable ones for Hackintosh builds.

Gaurish just post your config or probable config on insanely mac..you'l find all that you need..You can check the HCL-hardware compatibility list too...

I think my topic gonna help lot of people..

Around 3-4 people gonna download and try it... :D and then if its successful would buy a MAC computer :D he he

Exactly what I did. Problem easily solved. Forgot to mention it in my earlier post.

Definitely Intel, since all Macs are based on Intel chipsets. Think the P965 & P35 are the most popular chipsets.

Yeah I would love to buy Psytar PC , but they have been already sued by Apple and then they coutersued .... long battle till then they gonna sell :p

Yes. That's the one. Works flawlessly on most setups, you might have to install a few kexts for LAN/Audio.

Worked pretty well for me. its has taken over vista as default OS for me.

Had to install grafix drivers via Nvinject, and worked in a single attempt. Will post screens sometime soon
