Linux Cant surf using Firefox

I am sorry if this question has been asked before (I couldnt find a similar post).. I have Ubuntu 7.10 installed, and I cant use Firefox to surf the net. If I use Konqueror everything works great, but on Firefox, I keep getting "Connecting to .... site" message.

check your firewall setting thru firestarter...

Make sure that you are not using a proxy.

In about:config ,

set "network.dns.disableIPv6" to "TRUE"

Reply if it works.

Do import settings work in Linux as in Windows? Talking Import settings -> IE in windows. FF works only after doing that in my comp ehre.
