hi!

I am looking for a good digital camera within 5k and i have chosen the Nikon L-21@ 4650rs.

This would be a gift for my kid sister and this will be her first digital camera and inevitably it will be broken and damaged due to the rough,careless handling which happens to be a trademark of my sister.

Are there any other models I should consider?

Do please post your experiences with Nikon L-21 if you happen to own one.

I bought a nikon l21 and returned it next day for a canon A480. Image quality was not good indoors. The colors were way off the mark. It showed pale orange color under a tungsten bulb yellow light. Morever, it was shooting most of the pics onwards ISO 400
 
Well I saw Canon A495 on ebay deal of the week last to last week...it's new version of A480...price is around 5k...
 
don't have a citibank card! do you happen to have one or know anyone who could help me out?
 
Well I don't have...there is offer from HDFC too...check the ebay thread in market section...some people there might help you...and today is last date for Citibank offer...
 
Better look for Panasonic LZ10 it should be around 7k but is worth the money and also has manual controls.
 
@Konquerror only if she is below 12 years and having manual controls never hurts and gives you something more to learn. Also it has auto modes apart from Manual :)
 
i have decided on the a495 .we've got a canon a 540 which i bought 5-6 years back from heera panna for 9~9.5k its a 6mp camera and is still working.i thought i would try some other brand this time but i guess canon stills offers the best deal in terms of price and performance.
