Actually I have a blog with gofreeserve, I am quite satisfied. But I needed a TLD, but with HostDime I can get hosting+TLD at very low prices. Hence I am thinking to go with it.

I am thinking to go with this : sIN1-US which is 45/month [http://www.hostdime.in/web-hosting/shared/

But buying shared hosting on US based servers wouldn't create any server issues right ?

[and sorry for hijacking your thread :P ]

Re: Good Web Hosts with Bank Transfer payment

Well, I use Hostso, I'm hosting 5domains with them presently and I'm quite satisfied with their service. The main thing I love about them is customer support, faced no issues at all and really cheap @ 29/month - HostSo - Reliable, Affordable Web Hosting

But this doesn't solve @OP's problem, as I was the one who also had the same query when I didn't have a CC. And paypal didn't came to any use because of that. And they don't accept Internet Banking.

So back then I used to ask my friends to buy me one.

No issues :P

With shared hosting bought anywhere, you always need to keep an eye on your resource usage. Even with all the 'unlimited' claims, every web host will still have a Resource Usage Policy fine-print.

Hostdime's is here : HostDime Resource Abuse Policy

As long as your site stays within the limits you're fine. If it goes beyond they will notify you and ask you to upgrade your plan.

Re: Good Web Hosts with Bank Transfer payment

@krishnandu - really low prices dude ! was there any issue with server at all ??

@crazy_eddy - I will better a own thread [ or shall I continue here it self ? ]

- I am okay with less space - 500MB - 1GB is enough

- I need good bandwidth as of now I am okay with minimum 5GB / Month

- I never want my site to be down !

- It is to host wordpress blog

So which is cheapest I can get ? including hosting + domain ?

Nope, as I said, hosting 5 sites with them, never faced any issues at all. But yes there was a downtime once for just few hours, they faced network outage, but recovered within few hours and everything was up again.

Re: Good Web Hosts with Bank Transfer payment

Oh seems nice !

I also want just domain..I think .in are costlier than .com right ??

and where I can get .in or .com domain cheapest ??

Re: Good Web Hosts with Bank Transfer payment

.com domains are about Rs. 400~500 / yr. You will very rarely see promotions/coupons for .com domains.

.in domains seem to be expensive, but I see a lot of promotions offering dirt cheap rates for the 1st year.

In any case, don't get swayed by price and always pick a good domain registrar. Its easy to fix a mistake with a web host, but not so easy with a bad domain registrar.

Some recommendations :-

namecheap.com , if you're not restricted by payment

answerable.com , if you need to make indian bank payments (got an answerable domain for a non-profit org, and not had any trouble configuring whatever we needed)

BTW its my public duty to say - steer clear of Net4India even if they promise to find a cure for cancer :P

A relative of mine still went ahead and picked one from Net4 recently, and I can tell you their interface/settings are still hopeless as ever and it was a nightmare to set up.

P.s.: Splitting thread since your query deserves its own.

Buy domain from namecheap. Very good registrar, I've been using since years and you get domains a little cheaper than godaddy, they also give free Whois guard.

For hosting, if you're looking for long term (3-4 yrs), you'll get cheap deals from Justhost, Bluehost etc. Hostgator is a little expensive but heard they're really good overall.

Get a .in from Mistu.in. Cheapest at Rs 100. They are the BEST for .in. Have 3-4 domains from them.

For hosting nothing like ByetHost 39$ per year. Amazing support. If you have a bit more money, want better support and want none of your email to go to SPAM, nothing like Hostgator.

Never heard of HostDime, but for Rs 49, who cares.

Dont worry about US servers, your site will load maybe 0.2 sec slower. Thats all

I find godaddy cheaper at 7.49, with their coupon codes. Just do a search for Godaddy Coupons. Or is their a trick to get cheaper from Namecheap.

^^I bought one .in Domain from Mitsu.in for 79/- and there was a promotional offer of Free Hosting, I didn't recieved that yet, so I can't believe them, they even don't have some good support. No live chat facility and they don't reply to mails like that.

Hey how you guys are considering Hostdime?? They are taking Rs. 500/- for Setup fee...lol....Setup is free with almost most of the hosting providers.

I guess Namecheap comes to around $9 with free Whois guard, so yes then Godaddy will be cheaper, but then they do charge for Whois guard don't they?

The Rs 500 setup fee is actually the cost for domain registration. If you don't need to register a domain, there won't be any setup fee.

Hmm...!! :)

Thanks for pointing that out :D

@crazy_eddy - thank you for new thread :)

@all - thank you for replying :)

So I have decided to go with .com as .in are costlier. Earlier I used 1and1, so thought of going with them again. But not sure about Credit Card, so might consider answerable.com.

one more question, the sub domain depends on hosting I choose right ? I think if I have enough space then I can have how many sub domains I want. Am I right ?

also what is difference between blog.avi.com or www.avi.com/blog ?

blog.avi.com = blog is the subdomain of avi.com. Eg. google.com and the gmail is mail.google.com

www.avi.com/blog = blog is a folder which resides in your public_html / www folder. Generally it denotes the specific page on your server like www.xyz.com/index.html, but in your case it's a folder and pointing to it will automatically redirect you to www.xyz.com/blog/index.html

BTW, in reference to your first query when you'll enter blog.avi.com, it will actually point you to "www.avi.com/blog" which in turn redirect you to www.avi.com/blog/index.html

But remembering blog.avi.com is easy much more than avi.com/blog

Is there any difference between co.in and .in except in name ?

I feel like going with .in . what you guys say ?
