Cheapest option to watch movies stored on Ext HDD

I bought a Android TV stick recently for 38$. Full HD output and you can use it for browsing, email too.

The single end of the cable would go into the HDD and the Y ends would go into the Mediaplayer and the powered USB Hub.

Am I correct ?

yes, you are correct here. and the cable you chose is also of the right type. picture shows that it accepts full size USB connectors. just make sure your devices have the same type.

But if you are looking for custom ROM or linux look for a MK 809ii or 802.
Runs pretty good. My main objection was to use BT headset while watching movie on TV. The build quality is a bit flimsy. I would not connect or disconnect cables frequently.
Works flawlessly with wireless keyboard/mouse. Comes installed with Kobi. Comes with 2GB RAM.

Just buy a powered USB hub and loop the hard disk through the hub.

I would still suggest MK808B Plus. Still the best.
