CPU/Mobo Cheapest Reliable Mobo and CPU combo

+1. i5 12400 at 11k is the far better deal vs i3 14100 at 13k (haven't checked the prices myself). This is because 14100 is hardly much different from 12100.
I meant to say that i3 14100 might be 11k, checked prices as low as 10k, i3 12100 starts at 9k. The i5 12400 starts around 12.3k on pcpartpicker.

Anyways, up to OP on final decision.

I am adding another 8GB module so I will have 16GB
I am still more inclined towards 14100 as it’s the newest model where as 12400 is 2 years older

If you compare the performance of the i5 12400 and i3 14100, the 30% extra multicore performance easily overshadows the 5% better single-core performance.

Okay then get yourself a Ryzen 3 2200G with an A320m motherboard. Would cost like 6000rs approx
Would be more than enough for you to proceed with your needs.

And also, hope you have an SSD for OS installation
If not, get a NVME drive to keep on for the Windows
I have spare r3 2200g since i have upgraded to r5 5600 with an rtx 3060. I also can sell my mobo if you want, im kinda short on money and looking to buy new b550 mobo.

while purchasing CPU check for the manufacturing date Intel warranty is based on manufacturing date.
is it new norm by Intel?
Every brand gave concession of minimum 3 months or 6 months from Date of manufactures, as that much time any hardware took to reach India & also all sudden not going to sell off at C&F/Distri/Dealer/Retailers place.
I mean to say if product made in June 2024 and sold by Dec 2024, than warranty should start from the actual date of purchase (Dec.2024) and not from June 2024.

Sir , what's the next upgrade step after i5 12400 ? to me 12400 seems vfm but do we get noticeable performance upgrade if we add another 4-5k in price ?b
Not a big noticeable upgrade, but you do get like another 20% extra raw performance with R5 7600, not to forget a newer platform which will likely support another generation of CPUs after Ryzen 9000. But DDR5 RAM will increase cost as well. So if you can spend on it, this is my recommendation.

Beyond this, IMO gamers should not consider anything other than 9800X3D, productivity users can consider 7900X or 7950X. For gamers, R5 7600 + 4080 will run slightly faster in most games vs say 9800X3D + 4070Ti S (most likely you will be playing at 1440p or 4K as well, CPU heavy games will be exceptions for sure but anyone who can spend 1L on a GPU should not cheap out on other parts).
