Unable to understand Inception, IIT aspirant kills himself.

New Delhi. Christopher Nolan’s recently released mind bending sci-fi movie Inception has opened to rave reviews by critics and has triggered a lot of discussion amongst the movie lovers, but little did anyone know that this movie would end up claiming the life of a 17 years old IIT aspirant. Wednesday was a sad day for the Verma family when the youngest member of the family Gopal committed suicide because he wasn’t able to understand Inception completely even after watching it for seven times, three times in his dreams.

“Gopal was waiting for this movie ever since he saw the first teasers on YouTube six months back. He went to the movie theatre with his notebook and took copious notes too. But, then I don’t know what forced him to take such a drastic step,” said his father, Ram.

Many people suffering from insomnia have shown new urges for treatment after watching Inception

“Although he was too old for this kind of gift, but on Tuesday night he demanded a spinning top (lattoo) from me as his 18th birthday gift,” Ram continued, as he wondered what went wrong with his son.

His friend Jaideep added that Gopal had read all the reviews of the movie online and had also updated his Facebook status after watching the movie to “Is this real or am I dreaming? Guys, give me a kick!” which was liked by 7 of his friends.

“I was shocked to hear when an otherwise prude Gopal asked me if I’d sleep with him,” said Urmila, his 12 days old girlfriend. “Only after watching the movie, I am fully able to understand now that he meant dream sharing.”

Gopal, an IIT aspirant, was a student of FIITJEE (Forget IITJEE). He was found sleeping in the last bench on the day of FIITJEE’s All India Test series this Sunday. He committed suicide three days later.

“Gopal believed he could share dream with our invigilator, who is usually sleeping during the tests, to score well,” said Mohit, a FIITJEE student who was present in the same room. “And when I tried to wake him up, he started shouting – no, this is only level two – and to actually convince the rest of the class that it was a dream world, he started climbing on the walls, but only failed each time. The entire class started laughing watching his histrionics.”

“Projection of my subconscious is a loser!” were the last words of Gopal in public, as he shouted back at his laughing classmates and stormed out of the test room.

Faking News found the mood at the FIITJEE Kalu Sarai centre to be quite somber. “We can all understand his frustration. Ever since Inception has released, everybody has gone into a tizzy developing theories of their own. Some professors have even taken extra classes to educate their students about the various interpretations of the movie’s ending,” said Sanjay who has watched Inception only once, and was not interested in watching it again because he was preparing only for AIEEE and Karnataka engineering exams.

Many news channel also talked to the topper of the FIITJEE, Karan, with whom Gopal had an intense discussion after watching the movie, “Gopal had gone bonkers after watching the movie, and he didn’t even understand it fully. He was like the fourth level was not Cobb’s limbo, but his dream. I was like WTF dude?”

“But I’m indeed very disappointed that he died, or wait, did he go back to his earlier dream?” Karan wondered.

OMFGWTF!!

Is this true?

He must have thought that like Mal, his reality is nothing but a dream..so decided to give himself a kick from his supposed dream

Why is the dead guy's name Gopal, his father's name Ram and surname Verma.... Too much of a coincidence..... the news is fake.. Maybe RGV is trying to make a remake of the movie titled, "Ram Gopal Verma ke sapney"...

Another excellent extraordinary elegant movie to fill up all ready boring world :)
Nolan please keep making more and more and more movies.

Umm, you are sadly mistaken if that's what you remember. I distinctly remember that around a week before the movie, it was rated 9.7 or something on IMDB and the same at RottenTomatoes. All the critics who had seen it were happy with Nolan's work. The first scene of the movie, the bank robbing scene, was on the web and people went crazy seeing that.

just because it was rated 9.7 so it was a masterpiece...........lol

man,go and chk out AVATAR's imdb page,it will have the similar thing

it is all the hype and people hoping on the bandwagon

i remember nobody even knew about AVATAR in india months nefore its release, but when people said its COOL,everybody went and saw it and even though most wouldn't have liked it normally everybody said it is good cause of COOLNESS about it.

You may not have liked the movie, everyone has different tastes. But don't make statements which aren't true.

i am not even talking about my taste

i am talking what a movie normally should be which got so much praise,DK wasn't that

and i watch movies very very regularly so it isn't that i have only specific tastes, all regular movie goers can enjoy the different genres

It may be that you came to know about it after Heath Ledger died. Most of us were waiting for quite some time for the movie after the first one, which promised of better things to come for the almost-dead Batman franchise. Heath Ledger received his much deserved fame after the movie was a big hit and not the other way around.

everybody knew a new batman movie was coming but not the way that they were following it.they only knew like expecting a sequel.

all the hype started after his death

and i was following it way before his death

I had been following ages for Inception and The Dark Knight, ever since they were "untitled projects". Besides Ledger's epic acting, the other actor quality, the original score and the direction were all par excellence. If you cant see all that past ledger's death, you are dumb and a have a terrible judgment.

I NEVER SAID THE FILM WASN'T GOOD.

it was just overated and the massive hype only started after his death

all the hardcore movie followers would have known abt the movie but not the other people without the hype

I can't understand how you guys are even comparing The Dark Knight - which is flawless, to Inception. Inception is a very good movie no doubt, but it's far from flawless. It's a 3.5/4 for me. Some campy moments lose it half a star. For instance, [SPOILER AHEAD, highlight to read text]

I hated the snow sequence in the latter half of the movie. I mean, guys with guns fighting on skis? Is this Bollywood???? If that sequence was in a hindi movie, I'd be as scathing so I see no reason why my opinion should change for this film. Yeah, you can argue that it's a dream and the dreamer can think up anything they want, including a snowy fortress. But come on, answer this, who came first - the dreamer or the script-writer (Nolan himself)? Nolan could have thought up a more imaginative action sequence given the film's context. Eggman mentioned David Lynch, I'm sure as hell David Lynch could have come up with a way more imaginative and "dreamlike" action sequence.

Second, I don't know about the dreamers in this movie but MY subconscious would have lots of sex in it, not to mention morbid or fantastical elements. Rationalism, logic, ethics, morality are all worldly principles and faculties. We're taught as children to store all our darker and more irrational feelings in the innermost portions of our minds: our subconscious. Whose subconscious doesn't have sex or for that matter darker things in it? I understand that Nolan made the movie to be accessible for all viewers, but it felt a little bit like baby-food for me and took away some of its credibility.

Just to summarise, Inception is a very good film, but far from a perfect or flawless one. The Dark Knight is perfect and flawless. Inception, however good it might be has lifted concepts from The Matrix and Dark City. But I understand everyone has their own opinion, so to each, their own :)

Why are we even bringing The Dark Knight into comparison with Inception? Both movies are world apart from each other.
