I agree with others.
AMD + 8800GTS definitly makes more sense, since you are into gaming.

Infact when i think about it, even i should have gone for an AMD and a better gaming card, but since my previous experience with AMD Athlon was not so good (it was a room heater), i decided to go for E6300. Now when i look back, i think i could have used the 5k to get a better GFX card OR a TFT. :( To Get things even now, i plan to OVERCLOCK:ohyeah:

hehe, soo many replies.. soo much confusion :bleh: what to do!!! AMD or INTEL? the age old saga continues :bleh:. Anyways, the 8800GTS 320MB version retails for some 20k's plus right? So how do i fit that into my measly budget? and if so, what cud be the config for such a system? Do reply folks.. BTW, where are the big guns of TE?

arre there are no big guns in TE....just ppl with big hearts

8800GTS retail for arnd 18K incl tax in India

AMD Setup : 7K

total 25 K

fit the rest of the components as suggested earlier

Well, the 8800GTS is better on all counts.

But, I suggest, you cut down on other things.

I dont think you should go for a 3600+ instead of a E4300.

Im buying a 3600+ for my GF tomoro, ill know the performance once Overclocked, but Id still go for a E4300 OC'ed anyday.

Try to extend your budget by 10k, and get the E4300 + P5N-E SLi + 8800GTS 320mb.

Or get the GTS from Abroad?

^^^ the performance of 3600 once oveclocked is good enuf to be at par with stock e4300/e6300 easily.....but thats it....

so ofcourse if he can extend the budget nothing like C2D overclocked but otherwise on a budget thats wat shld make a gamers heart melt

IMO the foolowing is what u shud get:

C2D E4300+ MSI Neo2965-12k

XFX/other brand 8800GTS-18k

i kno i m saying a bit more than ur budget but trust me this would be the best and cheapest combo for gaming. i guess some ppl will agree wid me

hehe, so true.. .if i cud extend my budget, heck! i wud go for x6800 and the 8800GTX man :bleh: anyways, so extending the budget is out of the question. 60k's is the max i can go for right now. If you people happen to know of any price cuts in the near future, let me know, i might just wait it out for a few more days. And if nothing like that is gonna happen, then i guess i am better off with the 8600GT and the 4300+P5N32/P5B. What say you??

Well, Why dont you buy the E4300 + P5N-E SLi + 8600GT right now.

Later, after like 4-5 months, when more Graphics power demanding games come out, sell the 8600GT, and upgrade to a better card.

The Prices are surely going to drop, due to the launch of DAAMIT's HD2000 series..

Right you are Aditya :) i think i am going to do that.. So its done then, E4300+P5N-E+8600GT. And some months later when the prices drop, i cud move onto say 8800 or something :). CHalo then, thanks to all who replied to my query. Reps are on the way :bleh: Will get the system in a few days and let you all know how she goes.

one suggestion then....if u r gonna upgrade better buy a 8500gt now....or a dx9 card like a 7600gt for now....hold off for a few months and buy a 8800GTS/X as per ur requirements....

the cost of 8500gt etc is already low and wont drop by that much of a margin as 8600gt etc. and wont come at a tight budget to u too

btw....do post the overclocks after getting the rig

8500GT sucks honestly.

A complete waste of investment.

8600GT is a bit better on performance terms than the 7600GT.

yeah 8600GT is much better than 8500GT ....... but the price difference justifies that ..... isn't it :)
