Which is nearly on par with the US price in terms of proportionality. The other model is 1299$ / Rs 75K, and this is 1600$ / Rs 90K. That's about the same I'd say, so why the angry smiley?

you can also ask kmd. he's gotten lappies from the states for a few ppl
 
Vandy get an MSI wind and upgrade the ram to 2gigs. I really couldn't fault the notebook other than lack of dedicated pgup/pgdown buttons. You'll be surprised how usable it is. No HDMI but who the fook cares. You save 50k as well.

And just where are you? I need an audition with those HD 650's. The guy coming from the US needs to be told before the 15th of Nov, whether to buy em for me or not...C'mon, be a friend in need ;)
 
Nah, no way...I am using a EEE 901 after the Macbook went out to Techie_007

The difference is, errm, a 800 to a Beemer 3 if not the 5 or 7

And I am not even talking about the performance

The netbooks are ok for limited usage as a stopgap measure/while travelling

but they are a big No No for daily usage at home

having said that, I use the home lappy 5-6 hours a day on average (this is besides the 8 hours at work on a crappy latitude)

If you intend to use the system for just a quick mail check or IMing from the Patio/Balcony, a netbook will do the trick

Vandy, why the 2nd model...a backlit keyboard is sure nice to have , but 15K extra just for that? :O

(no, the 0.4 ghz speed bump does not count, and just a few K more will get you a post market 250 gigger as well as a spare 160GB portable drive if you are so inclined)
 
So go for the cheaper one?? Is the non-backlit keypad good enough for an airplanes ambient lighting?
 
^ Yes certainly! It'll also save you some battery juice. Spend the extra Ks on a 250GB 7200rpm HDD and Apple's awesome 3 year extended warranty!

Will the macbook be able to take a 250/200 GB 7200 rpm drive without overheating? How much does this warranty cost? And do I get warranty even if I buy off newegg?

And won't that counter the battery advantage? BTW newegg lists 7200 rpm only up to 200 GB, no more.
 
Well i use the netbook almost everyday at home or office, never find any problem with it. i watch videos, do chatting and stuff, never felt uncomfortable. other than gaming it perfectly suitable for the job. anyways if i am at home want to do something more than that like gaming etc i use the desktop.

actually i feel netbooks are better than the full size notebooks, i usually keep it on the bed and before goin to sleep i do my normal surfing and stuff. even watching some movies and videos, i bet you can't do those with laptops that comfortably. first they are very heavy and second gets warm even after 10 mins of usuage :) ..... just my opinion no one has to flame me :P

i am not suggesting him to buy a netbook instead of laptop but just my views :P

Yes it will take upto a 320GB 7200rpm drive which is listed here:

Newegg.com - 7200 RPM, 320GB, Laptop Hard Drives, Hard Drives, Computer Hardware

AppleCare retails for $250 and is advisable to buy in India. It can be attached to any Mac computer bought anywhere in the world.

I wouldn't want a 320 GB HDD but I didn't know the 7200 rpm ones exist...

No 7200 rpm drives available with normal dealers here in Pune at least, I checked :(
 
trust me, you are not going to feel the need for a 7200 rpm if you get the MB (not unless you are into major graphics editing or some other super HDD intensive task)

So a 320 GB, 5400 rpm would be good for me? Could I open the Macbook and upgrade my memory to say 4 GB? I know this one has DDR3 so availibility may be an issue, but later would this be possible?

Get Transcend/Corsair/whatever you want...

not sure if DDR3 200 SODIMM are currently available locallly though, but should soon be

The memory and HDD slots are user accessible and are placed under the battery

And stop thinking windows style Vandy... 3GB of RAM and a 7200 rpm drive won't give you any discernible advantage in everyday usage over the default 2GB/5400 rpm

Leopard does an excellent job of memory management

(Unless you have some extremely memory and HDD intensive apps to run)

Lol the Corsair Value select which retails for 900 bucks says on box , "Can be USed for MAC" also :P. Of course if stalker wants to pay a visit to the apple store chiX , thats different :D
