comp@ddict said:the point is, in every article by game devs(interviews) they report every pirated download as a lost sale, which isn't really the case.
I mean, chances are not even 100,000 liked the game and played it till the end out of 10 million downloads, that makes the actual piracy figure at 100,000, not 10 million as the downloads say.
Look at me, last 1 year, i bought 5 games, dowloaded many more, but from all those, I liked and played till the end only 2 games, TF2(addict) and Crysis 2(even though i complain)..
From all the games I downloaded, I'm thankful I didn't buy, as I didn't play any of them after 2-3 hours, because mostly they were milked brands(AS) or dumbo'ed games(DA2)... and had I bought them, it would have been a complete waste.
Now, these downloads are not lost sales, not pirated copies, as the downloaded didn't even bother to keep the game with him for more than 2 days....
And I thought we had Game Demos precisely for doing just that. Didn't know some of us needed to play the "full game" in order to get an idea of how good or bad it was. Please remember, Videogames like all forms of entertainment are a business, like films they have every right to entice you to buy their product by showing a gameplay trailer or releasing a demo, now whether you end up liking their final product is not their problem. Please stop justifying piracy to yourself. No matter what you believe, piracy can never be justified. I am a pirate too but I do not justify piracy to myself, its wrong and unfair to parties involved in making of a game, period.
So, are you implying that the developers are deliberately letting their games get cracked?Ameet148 said:Piracy is not the big issue.Piracy can easily be checked.Imagine the game studios which imply so much of technology into the gaming industry, couldn't it just prevent cracking of a game, now there are many applications which are nearly impossible to crack and no matter how much you search the internet you can't get a working pirated version of it.Which means that the technology is still present to protect the PC games, but game developers are not implementing it.
They are neither protecting nor developing.who's fault is this?Well I think you guys know well.
