PC Peripherals Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus or Corsair TX650W

Guys,

This is my spec:

ntel core I5 - 750 - 9900
MSI P55 Gd 65 - 9000
1 TB Seagate Sata - 4000
2 *2GB Kingston DDR3 Ram - 4800
Samsung P2350 24" Monitor - 11000
Samsung SATA 22x DVD RW - 1100
Logitech Keyboard + Mouse - 610
ATI Radeon HD 5850:

Powercolor - 15500

Cooler Master Cabinet - 2000
600VA UPS - 1400
Cooler Master 650W extreme power plus PSU - 4000 or Corsair TX650W
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ - 1800

Question is which PSU should I go for? Am confused since the corsair is costlier at 6800 bucks.

Dont get either of them..

Get a corsair VX550 instead..

a VX450 will work too..

but a VX550 will give you much room for overclocking..

If you havnt got your system now..

get yourself a better cabinet..a CM690 atleast..

if you want me to choose between those then i'll go for Corsair TX650 in fact i have one of those powering my AMD 940 BE...

IMO the extra money that you are paying is totally worth it..

But if you want a PSU to power up the config that you've mentioned then get a Corsair VX550 as it's more than enough to power your system..

Full support but if you want to stick to Cooler Master look for 500W/460W Extreme Power Pro or the 500W Silent Power:)

Corsair VX 550 will get the job done.Get TX 650 if you want to do some major upgrade in future. Also the UPS you are willing to purchase is too weak to run the setup. You should get APC 800VA, 1000VA is highly recommended.

PSU:- Corsair VX550W @ 5.8k

COOLER:- Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 2.7K

CABINET:- CM Elite 335 @ 2.4k

If u havnt bought the config, settle for:-

MOBO:- MSI P55 CD53 ATX @ 7.5k

It's more than enuf and u save some bucks $$$ :p

Yeah I am going with the Corsair VX 550

I am gonna stick with the cm cooler as its cheaper.

And cabinet seems to be fine too.

But I will overclock my system and stuff and the MSI PFF GD 65 seems tob e much better. I am not too sure but lemme investigate that option.

You can also consider Glacial power 650W @4.6k if you've got budget limitations. Best VFM. If you can spend more, get vx 550 as corsairs have 5 year warranty against 2 year warranty of glacial power.
Btw, when you're spending so much on other components, and getting biggie 5850, it's better to get a spacious cabinet like CM centurion 590. Or in your budget get NZXT gamma if you're from mumbai.

Are you talking about msi p55 cd53? crossfire and sli aren't useful unless you use two or more graphics cards. Also, the sli/cf on most of the p55 boards run at x8, x8 which is not recommended for a powerful card like a HD 5850.

I just checked out a review.
This board doesnt seem to have sli or crossfire capability. Would that make it difficult for future upgradation?

Do you really know what Xfire and SLI really mean...? The graphics accelerator is usually the most expensive part of a gaming system. And when you move to SLI/Xfire set up, you drastically increase the cost. Suppose you buy a GPU for 14K, going Xfire/SLI will make you shell out another 14K. This arrangement is usually used if you are playing at HD screen resolutions. You seem to be interested in a full HD screen. OK...but a single card will also do finite justice. Now if you want and the bells and whistles on..then you can go multi-GPU. Also if you are on this path, then your base PSU setup will go up by 200W. Think this our seriously, if you want to go multi GPU (now or in the future), cause your PSU should have the meat to do justice. Also your internal system will get really hot, cause two VGA boards dissipate a lot more heat, which if not controlled -- will heat up your whole cabinet.

True...all P55 have x8 x8 PCI.E auto arrangement for multi GPU, but this is not that bad, you loose around 10-12% performance overall, but the overall boost is much more for multi-GPU.

Actually I will now go for the Corsair TX650. The 5 year warranty helps. Also the ATI website lists 600W as a power requirement for crossfire. So considering future upgradation, i am thinking of going for it, with the cm 690 cabinet. What do you guys think.

Also, yes i was infact talking about the p55 cd53. btw what x8?..

Cabinet is good. I gave me treatise on multi-GPU. Think it over, sleep over it. Take more recommendations from forums like this. Multi-GPU is quite painful till you get it -- just right. Once it works..its just dandy..! :) The arrangement of x8 x8 will not make THAT much of a difference vs. x16 x16.

Hey I just found this article: Warning: These P55 motherboards will cripple your Crossfire/SLI performance | Hardware Revolution

That is if the slave card works on 4 lanes, which some boards do. If you get a board with x8 x8, you are fine.

Yes I do understand that sli or crossfire mean using more than one gpu. The ati website puts the wattage required at 600W if you go crossfire with the 5850. Thats why I am taking the TX650W. Also, I am using the hyper 212+ cooler as well. I guess this should suffice? Also, eventhough I am not going for two cards right now, this will definitely be an option later maybe. Probably when prices drop or somehting

Is the MSI P55 GD65 board x8 x8?..

BTW this was what I found in overclockersclub.com for the gd65
MSI P55-GD65 Review Page 7 - Specifications & Features - Overclockers Club

2 PCI Express gen2 x16 slots

- If two graphics cards are installed at PCI_E2 & PCI_E4 slots, these two PCIE x16 lanes will auto arrange from x16/ x0 to x8/ x8
- supports ATI® Crossfire™ & NVIDIA SLI
• 1 PCI Express gen2 x4 slot
• 2 PCI Express gen2 x1 slots
• 2 PCI slots, support 3.3V/ 5V PCI bus Interface

^ err are your plan to get crossfire soon for future proof

btw these day there are many huge giant hardware update these week with latest gpu card technology

so the p55 will work on x8 or x16 board so it the latest gpu card has pci 2.0 it will give double upto 150 % performance no issue

and also where your stay it while assembled your pc ;)

Yes correct.

A. 1 GPU : @ x16
B. 2 GPU : @ x8 x8 (forced auto arrangement)

Both SLI and Xfire will work. So this is a good board to get if you will go for multi-GPU in the future. Get a HD5870 --- and see 'later on' if you need more muscle. A TX650 should be fine for Xfire/SLI..!
