PC Peripherals Cooling Fan for Pentium D

If you can afford go for water cooling and a large case. You cant imagine how much head room you get if you purchase one of those large server class CASES. Be warned however. The cost can be a tag HIGH like Rs 3500+ If watercooling is not an option, go for headpipe designs because you want to take the heat away from the CPU, not spread it around the CPU. Heap pipe designs are bit expensive (because they have to be all copper with gold plated contact points) but they sure work like charm. Google for gigabye heatpipe coolers.

Pure Copper is better than Al+Cu.

But it also makes the thing damn heavy. And the Thermalright xp-90c is much heavier than the xp-90 but the difference in cooling is very less.

I would suggest the Thermalright XP-90 with a high CFM 92mm fan.

The Zalmans in the frozen CPU link are also good. Buy them if you want.

The Thermaltake ones, I cannot comment on. But abt the ThermalRIGHT ones, I can. They are among the best. Cooling and noise. The Xp-90 is a better choice than the XP-120 coz it fits all mobos.

And the Thermaltake one you have given the link to is all Copper. Will be damn heavy. And if you try moving your case around too much, the mobo could break. And I mean LITERALLY snap into 2 pieces.

But I cannot really comment abt the cooling properties abt this cooler. I have not read any reviews. I suggest you google for some reviews and try comparing the wo (XP-90 and Tower 112).

Dont have time to do that right now :bleh:

Get the new SI 120 from Thermaright. Works on all mobos. And get the panaflo 120mm 115CFM fan..will rock for sure

Just like Nikhil said the Thermalright XP-90 is undoubetedely one of the best coolers around. You'll get it on Sidewinder (I think Quad just bought one...)

The Thermalright XP-90/XP-120 are supposed to be the best heatsinks around. The XP-120 being pretty large has compatibility issues with motherboards, as in it needs sufficient area around the heatsink for mounting. However the thermalright site does not indicate any incompatibilities for it on Socket 775 boards: http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_support_faq_motherboard_xp120_775.htm

You need to choose an appropriate fan (92mm for the XP-90, 120mm for the XP-120) to go with your Thermalright heatsink - there are a number of choices ranging from high speed/noisy fans to slow/silent fans.

The Thermalright SI-120 is supposed to be more compatible, but makes do with lesser surface area , which means cooling is bound to take a hit. It isnt available in the market as yet either.

Pure copper is always better than an Aluminium + Copper heatsink. But the differences are barely noticeable at times. The XP-90c is a copper version of the XP-90 but costs significantly more, weighs a lot as well and shows very marginal differences.

The only ThermalTake product thats good is the "Big Typhoon" (http://www.frozencpu.com/cpu-tta-26.html). Sunny/Masky should know about the Tower112, it was a decent product but nothing spectacular like the above mentioned models.

Get either the XP90/XP120/SI-120/XP90C from thermalright. Make sure u get the LGA775 bracket as well in case you are buying anything other than XP90C. Get a nice panaflo fan and you should be in business. The only thermaltake cooler you should be looking at is the big typhoon. All others are useless crap. Infact if you have a choice between thermalright and thermaltake, throw the thermaltake into the dustbin :P

I beg to disagree.......... What makes you dudes sure that ThermalTake is crap. Infact my stand on the point is that, with such high build quality from all manufacturers, there is infact NO diff in performance between the Copper Sinks from diff companies.

Just get a GOOD > 100 CFM fan (better yet, get 2 of them) and put it together. You can approach 500-900 MHz speed gains on air. I hope so on-the-least.

Fan mounting on the XP-90 is accomplished via Thermalright's traditional wire clips, which combine secure mounting with ease of removal.

Ok got that straight.

Karan aka Kidoman, i agree with you point but id rather go with something a BIT smaller, my Asus P5LD2 is a bit cramped.

Just measured the Space available and its around, 115mm X 130mm

Something round that.

People are just scared of that damn thermaltake tower, every1 thinks itll break my mobo, including myself.

Also putting two fans will make a lot of noise... If noise is not your concern that the ASUS Starice is a great option... Looks great works great... Is cheap...

Goldie ---- Read my review of the XP-120. You will know how the fan fits. The XP-90 is the same except for the size.
