Please understand this tragedy happened probably because he had active viral replication ( asymptomatic) while he received the vaccine.... precisely the reason why vaccinations must be stopped during this kind of insane transmission.
Lots of elderly people will loose their lives due to this STUPID STUPID STUPID mistake.
This is an unprecedented INDIAN epidemic. The virus is playing some role but Indian stupidity is in forefront. The government doesn't work. Common people don't understand. The "experts" defy all sort of logic.
Newspapers are still publishing about studies which are measuring antibody response to predict vaccine effectiveness without knowing what's the ****ing protective antibody ( if you don't understand ANYTHING, do you at least know by now that convalescent plasma doesn't work. If it doesn't work, what the **** are they measuring!!!!)
We don't earn a single penny working in India ( except State Government pays for the food and lodging) and have ZERO financial interest.
EXCEPT STEROIDS NOTHING WORKS IN COVID INFECTION. NOTHING!!
WE HAVE WORKED IN MANY COUNTRIES SINCE 2020, IT WAS SAME EVERYWHERE.
We foreigners have no hidden agendas against India/ ruling party or the opposition.

The risk of clotting is minuscule. Very low. The risk of clotting due to COVID is multifold higher.
It's vaccine politics.

And while we love to blame pharma companies, half the population on earth won't survive without them.

While I agree to most of your points, will slightly differ on AstraZeneca vaccine.
UK vaccinated almost their entire country with this vaccine. But they timed the vaccination scientifically. Didn't vaccinate a single person living in an area with case positivity of more than 5.

the saddest part is even this is this situation - everything is politicised. hindu-muslim, India-Pakistan, lowecaste higher caste, external forced trying to destabilise India is all running 24x7 in TV screens.

common people are so misinformed (deliberately) and scared that if someone says eat earthworm it will cure covid they will do that as well out of fear.
Majority of Indian population still consider TV news are source of truth.

My friend who's currently infected, but seems mild and is mostly fine now, took the below (once/twice a day):
Doxycycline
Ivermed
Zincovit
Azithro
Montair
Rantac

Do any of these help directly or indirectly? Are some of these unnecessary/just placebo?

No, nobody with average health doesn't need any of those medicines for mild covid.
Please don't pay these idiots doing online consultation and taking advantage of this present situation. You guys are techies, you know how to reverse scam a technical noob like most doctors. Do it, teach these blood sucking parasites a lesson or two.
There are plenty of doctors who are doing free online consultation all across the world, go to them ( they are usually better and have real jobs and patients and giving a hour or two on free consultation...anyone who is free to give online paid service all day is possibly scamming you) Don't waste your money on these greedy fools.
Most doctors in India make enough money to live a decent life, all of them can afford to see patients for free for couple of weeks online during a national disaster.
To all my friends here from West Bengal, hope you've heard about the lockdown from tomorrow.
But grocery, vegetables etc.will be available till 10:00 Hrs EVERYDAY. Please don't hoard foodgrains etc. Price of even the vary basic stuff is skyrocketing, hoarding may force a lot of families to go hungry.
Was speaking to some auto and taxi drivers outside the makeshift hospital. Most of them are calculating how are they going to eat in next 2 weeks. We are just middle class people with limited resources, 5 of us can't feed 500 families, but 50, we probably can.
Personally, sure I won't be able to buy 1000EUR headphones for few months, may be even years, but I am not going to protect my bank account.
As doctors, we all failed India. Despite the obvious failures, common people have blessed us every day. My friends who have never been in this country before are truly overwhelmed by the genuine love, affection and general warmth of "aam aadmi"
We will not fail as human too..we will give away everything we have.
Everything in this close to 300 bed facility is going to be free from today including all medicines, ventilators. We are no saints, just trying to give back what we got ( including life of one of our colleagues)
BTW probably most of you don't know this, CM Banerjee's younger brother passed away from covid related disease earlier today. She didn't ask for any VIP treatment for her brother.
I don't exactly know about her political ideologies but wish every politicians could behave this way.
One more thing, we still have some Remdesivir and Tocilizumab with us ( we don't use these medications ourselves)
I don't recommend them, but if anyone needs them, please send me a PM ( don't write in this thread, as it may be missed)
All I will be needing is a prescription for the same with registration number ( with appropriate medical council) of the prescribing doctor.
Please don't PM for N95 masks now, don't have a single one left ( last night we counted, had around 300, all gone now)
My wife is sending as much as she can. But it will take some time to arrive. She has bought them from Germany, should reach her @ Slovakia by Monday.

AZ is making no money out of this vaccine. They are selling it at cost and will continue to do so till the pandemic comes under control. At least for this vaccine, money is not a factor.

I think the problem here is many of us know little to nothing about chemicals and drugs so the need to consult a doctor always arises. Also for many of us middle class people we need to go to govt hospitals which has doctors who may or may not be well qualified. We cannot always rely on the internet as there are equal number of misinformation there also. Just the other day I came across a viral video in which the "doctor" (a Swedish) said that covid doesn't exist.

Yes they make lacs and private ones earn even more than government doctors. Worse, even though govt rules ban govt doctors from practicing in private, many of them run private clinics and some others make a deal with private hospitals to treat their patients also so these doctors often prioritize their private hours. I've come across many incidents and events which may baffle your mind. The general state of healthcare in India is messed up and this covid just brought many of them to light.

Anyway, many of the people I know are scared out of their wits because of the "blood clotting" and the "fake vaccines" making news as of late. Too many conspiracy theories.

Believe it or not, government doctors in India are mostly qualified. You will rarely see rubbish like MRCGP/ FRCGP/ MRCS/ FRCS posted as specialists in government hospitals.
I've already seen Russian MD in kolkata practicing as specialists. These are those pathetic students, who couldn't even get into Manipal or other private garbage medical schools and end up in Russia/ China/ Czech Republic ( here there's 2 parallel systems, one makes proper med graduates and requires a very tough admission test clearance, the other one is from students from India/ Bangladesh etc. where they teach nothing)

Many of them, yes you guess it correctly, are rich as shit. I don't know how good or bad they are but damn are they glorified locally. "This kid went to EU to study, that kid went to CN to study" etc etc. without bothering to look into more details.
Those countries which you mentioned are a regularly sight in local newspapers ads section. They are heavily advertised. I think the people who run them understands the high demands in North-East. I don't know about other states, I assume Engg and MBA ads? :hilarious:
I wish someone could dig deeper into the ads and see just how legit they are.
 
The ads are probably legit, but the colleges are really bad. Stay away from these doctors. A local quack is safer than them.
I deal with these idiots everyday now, they often send patients for admission with hilarious prescriptions.
One had the audacity to tell me that since I'm from Czech Republic, I should take special care for their patients.
These are the idiots who mostly need remdesivir, fabiflu, IL6 inhibitors. We were giving these without any screening of the doctors. Had to stop it.
One extra step for India...check if the doctor sending you a patient is legit or not himself/ herself.

It's hard to know what is real science and what is politics/propaganda these days.
Every country claims its vaccines are safe and best.
UK used Astrazeneca, US used Pfizer, EU used whatever was available. Russia used sputnik and China used SinoVac.
India is in the position it is today due to the stupidity of not procuring vaccines from whoever could supply the earliest, we too played that game.

I still don't trust Covaxin a lot because it has no international validation. CoviShiled is the best option we have at the moment.

I so wish we had open-source pharma, like open-source software, the world would have been a much better place.

Not sure if it's the same whole India but Delhi gives Covishield. Some of my friends and relatives have gotten theirs. Friend got his first shot. Aunt got her second shot a week or so ago.

I don't think its possible. Who's going to fund it? Pharma is nothing like open-source softwares. Pharma will always need govt/institutional backing.

@red dragon is there any way to differentiate between genuine vaccines drugs and fakes (glucose shot or that fake Remdesivir shot for example) just from looking at them? Any idea how the vaccines available in India look? If the govt was not such a screw-up people wouldn't be so paranoid about this.

We don't think much about counterfeit medications, as those are very rare outside Asia.
