Hi Guys,

Please suggest me a CPU cooler and a case preferably a Mid tower for my PC. I have AMD phenom 2 940 Black edition.

Right now I am sitting at 3.6 Ghz but the idle temperatures for my CPU is around 55 C and for my GPU ( MSI 580GTX reference card ) around 48 C..

I have decided upon the NZXT Tempest EVO and the Corsair H80..Please suggest if there are any other equivalent options..

Primary I am into cooling,,,looks are secondary...

I short period i will be upgrading to a Sandy bridge or the Bull dozer when it releases...There is a speculation in the market that both the sandy as well as the bulldozer may ship with a liquid cooler due to which if i buy a h80 now , then it would become a loss if i get a liquid cooler box packed with the sandy or bull dozer unless they sell the liquid cooler separately.

So should i wait and just get the cabby now and buy the CPU cooler accordingly later once both the sandy and bulldozer are out..

Please suggest...Thanks in advance

the 690 II or HAF 912 and a noctua nh-u12p or nh d14 or thermalright silver arrow

Please mention your budget first for both

Budget for the Case is around 6k and CPU cooler is 5K...

Any one know the price differnce between the COrsair H80 and H100?

the h80 is for 5800 from prime

the h100 will be ~7k

ninja post...

i suggest u look at the corsair 400r

brilliant case for less than 5k inr

Thanks a lot moksh4u2 :)

Moreover there is a doubt regarding the installation of H100 in most of the cases as i think Tempest Evo will have a problem....

If anyone is using a corsair H100 could you please tell which cases they are using?? It would be of great help...

If it is cabby from Corsair then i think the H100 will fit with ease in the Corsair cases?

Moreover will the temperature differences be huge between the H80 and H100?

the corsair 400r is selling for $99 on newegg.. another case selling for $99 is the nzxt h2.. it retails for 5700 in india(when 1$ was rs45).. lowest price.. so expecting the corsair to sell at 5k is impossible considering the rupee against the dollar.. which has inceased more than 3 rupees very recently... more 6k range..

the h100 has a bigger rad and fans in both push/pull config compared to the h80..

the difference between the h80 and h100 at stock config is only ~2-3 degress
however where the h100 truly shines is in pull pull at >200w of load
my advice is this, if u are not goin to oc a lot (i mean sb at 4.5Ghz) then u should be fine with the h80
otherwise wait it out for the h100

i agree with your logic however if corsair is to market this product to the masses unlike the 600t or 800d, they need to price it in the 5k price range :)
ps-i think sorcy has inside sources :D

honestly, i would suggest you go for a h80 and get 2 or so case fans. the h100 will not do you to good looking at your current config. try getting the silverstone fm121's they are great VFM :)

Actually i thought to get the H100 compared to the H80 as the price difference in minimal between the two...:)

Moreover the problem of H100 fitting in Tempest EVO,,,,don't know which all cases support the H100 ??

Thanks sasikanth8

But I read that the cooling of the Tempest Evo is better than the HAF 912 and HAF 922 so was going for the EVO,,,Hows the Corsair 400R in terms of the cooling against the tempest EVO?

^^ Get the NZXT Tempest EVO ~ 6200/- [here in Bangalore], the case is worth its weight in gold, has a much cleaner and more efficient layout than any of the Cooler Master HAF series 912 and 922, comes with dust filters all over so again really hard for it to get mucky inside.

The Corsair Carbide 400R isn't out yet [OR atleast I've yet to spot it in S.P. Road], but it has got good coverage, here is a review of all three cases,

Cooler Master HAF 922 Review - Page 1/6 | techPowerUp -- HAF 922 review.

Cooler Master Intros HAF-912 ATX Mid-Tower Case | techPowerUp -- HAF 912 review.

Corsair Carbide 400R Review - Page 1/6 | techPowerUp -- Corsair Carbide 400R review.

NZXT Tempest EVO Review - Page 1/6 | techPowerUp -- NZXT Tempest EVO review.

hope this helped, Sire. Cheers!!

OP,

Check this review of H100. They used NZXT tempest Evo for review. It might solve your query related to H100 and NZXT tempest compatibility

Thanks a lot vivacious_tg for the link :)

After reading through both the Corsair H100 and the CoolIT ECO C240 reviews using the same case NZXT Tempest evo,,,It seems like both the fans will be impeded by the case itself leading to poor cooling as it is not a direct fit though EVO supports 120 mm fans,,,,,

Seems like i have to settle for a Corsair H80 or have to buy a corsair case :(
