@OP:

Try contacting Intel India. It is their core. If they can confirm temperatures are way to high (as per any software); DELL will have to buy it too.

Add on:

Can you run CoreTEMP, during a game and let it monitor/log temperatures for all cores. I think it creates a .CSV file. Post a screenshot of that here also. If you can.

I dunno how to make a log file out of coretemp.
<
If anyone does, please guide me.

Dell support sucks. They are professionals but it seems I know better than half of them. Only they do is - speak, speak and speak nonsense.

i suggest you to visit the dell office, as they have offered. There you can show them the temps for real. Show them temps using multiple application, they might believe it

Problem is even they they see the temps using different softwares, they are just denying it saying that if the system overheats it should black out ! (fools)

They remotely access my system and I showed them in real time . Now Question is "Should I fight back or buy another system? "

I am getting tired of this.

#[member='guneshwor'], contact intel india, ask them whether the temps are safe or not, next pass on the news to Dell.

In the meantime, spam their social_networking pages

I have just started with one post. They ignored me. Too tired today, will bombard tomorrow!

Under Tools>>>Logging On. It will create the file in the folder where CoreTEMP resides.

Thanks buddy.

owe you one

Contacted intel support through chat. They told it's okay for that temp as it falls below T[sub]j Max [/sub]for my processor .

WTF? has everyone got insane or lost their minds?

Post it on tweeter n fb. n every del..US UK AUS etc. see whats their reaction on this.

Now say that your laptop shutdowns immediately after using for 10mins 7 temperature crosses 100c. Create such serious stories. And tell them being a loyal dell customer for past 5-6yrs is this the way you treat us n etc etc...

SPAM TIME Sire, start with the Intel International page and if you have this in writing some place paste a screenshot of that as well. Sure-shot way to get noticed. Cheers!!

Hmmm... you say chat right, go through the chat history, take the screen shot of the 'incriminating evidence', highlight using Screenmarker and upload picture on Intel's fb page.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

I just did that and saw your post

What..?

Would you getting on the logs of CoreTEMP, while gaming...?

Yeah I have , he told it's not required to show him as the temp falls below 100C, WTF!!

Seems like I am running out of luck

Transcript from Intel US support chat:

info: Please wait for a site operator to respond.

info: You are now chatting with 'Dietmar S'

Dietmar S: Hello. Thank you for using the Intel Customer Chat Support service. We are glad to be of service. How may I help you?

: Hello, I have a question.

: I have a dell laptop with i5 2430m processor

Dietmar S: Hello Guneshwor how can I help you ?

Dietmar S: Yes

: While running games, the core temp of my processor reaches 99C , is it safe?

Dietmar S: One moment

: Sure, and during normal operations , the temp is usually 55-60C

Dietmar S: The operating temperature is 100C for this CPU

Dietmar S: Here is a link to the website with the information

Dietmar S: http://ark.intel.com/products/53450/Intel-Core-i5-2430M-Processor-(3M-Cache-up-to-3_00-GHz)

: I know that. But that temp range is critical and may possibly cause my processor to fail soon. Am I assuming correctly?

Dietmar S: I can only tell you that the specified operating temperature for this CPU is 100 C , so 99 is well within specifiactions

: So should I not be concerned about the situation ?

: I hope when my warranty ends, it doesnt fail.

Dietmar S: If you are concerned about this then I would suggest to contact the manufacturer of the laptop.

: I did, but they ignored me as it falls below the Tj max of the processor.

Dietmar S: That is because it is within the normal operating temperature of the CPU

: Okay, then I wont be able to do anything for that
<

Dietmar S: No this is as expected

: Thanks anyways Dietmar

Dietmar S: Is there anything else I can do for you ?

: No thats all

Dietmar S: Please complete the online survey when you have finished the chat session. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our service. Thank you!

: yes sure

WTH ?? Run prime, let the system boil, check the max temp, does it really touch 100c ?

See if it shutsdown, if not then take a screenshot of the temp and contact Intel and Dell, and ask them the reason?

Dietmar S: I can only tell you that the specified operating temperature for this CPU is 100 C , so 99 is well within specifiactions

I think I will get the same answer. Their point is that the processor doesnt overheat as long as it doesnt touch the 100C mark.

#[member='guneshwor'], thats why i ask you to run prime.

Once the temps reach 100c, you can complain that its overheating.

As for now, they are saying that temps<100 is safe, so temps>=100 is not safe, and they might look into the matter

No.

Please do not run any synthetic stressing software to make it reach beyond 100C. I am really not sure what people are trying here. Technically as long as you are below TJMax, you are fine. But you are like 1C below that. No ways, are those guys going to believe a non-realistic scenario, plus you might damage the core, since it is all ready running way way to high.

I would suggest you to contact a more senior person at Intel US, or drop them the mail about this. By the way, what is it idling at.

#[member='asingh'], but mate the Dell and Intel people are saying that 99c is safe, and once the temps reach 100c it will be a point to ponder on.

Isn't the cpu damage covered under warranty ?

True, but at the same time he might fry it. Doubt they can do much. Not a good way to work. Let us try amicably. At least that is what I feel.

Dude, you ll not only fry your processor but everything around it. If the plastic casing of your laptop molds into a different shape then i will be trouble for any service center engineer to open it.
