Well.... I was feeling bored..... there are 10 members online and 2 new threads......

I have been feeling damn depressed abt the state of our country..... I guess this must have been evident in some of my posts......

I mean, our country is going nowhere. Don't get me wrong. I love India. I would love to see it move forward. But what I feel bad is that in spite of we being so highly advanced in the field of technology and all that, in a way our country is moving backwards...

See the corruption in our country. People lile Lalu Prasad Yadav become big shot ministers. I mean does Lalu look like a person who is capable of handling such an important ministry like the Railways ??? And what crap abt cool drinks like Coke and Fanta being banned..... No one has folllowed this rule(AFAIK) but still... even thinking of enforcing this rule shows how stupid he is.

And the worst part is that he is still elected to the govt. what are the people in Bihar doing?? What are people throughout the country doing?? Why do we elect such people to the government???

L K advani goes to Pakistan and makes a fool of himself. I am not judging Jinnah here(maybe I should start another thread for that :bleh: ) but what Advani did went against the basic ideology of his party. The party which he has created along with some others. The party which would look incomplete without him. What was he thinking??

He betrayed the trust of millions of Hindus who back the Sangh Parivar to it's fullest(I DO NOT. I personally think they are all crooks and should be hanged by their b@!!$).

and then we have Pakistan..... Let me not even start on that.... Gandhi and Nehru were great leaders no doubt. But I blame them for the mess we are in today. In a way, I blame Gandhi more. What if he hadn't accepted the 2-Nation theory ??? the British had to leave India anyway. The worst that would have happened was that they would have left in 1950 instead of 1947.

Gandhi was a great leader and in a way was responsible in the bigggest way for bringing India freedom. But why could he have disagreed with partition?? If the Muslims really needed another country, then how is it that India(which was cast as a HINDU nation by Jinnah) has the highest Muslim population who live more or less in peace with the Hindus ???

Due to partition, thousands of people lost their lives and due to partition, and the subsequent wars, a HUGE part of our economy has been wasted towards the war. Wouldn't this have been better spend on the country???

And the goddamn politicians. they make me sick to the core. My blood boils every time I read abt them or see them on TV.

They claim to be "leaders" of the community.... I would like to ask how?? what do they do for the country?? I know there are a few good people like PC, Manmohan, S M krishna, etc.... but the vast majority are psychopathic, heartess, cruel, greedy, selfish, ba****ds.

People die of hunger in their constituencies and they do not care. They make a public appearance and promise the family some money. What use is this money?? Can money bnring back a dead person??

Just looking at one of those donkeys makes me mad. With their big fat bellies. People are living in poverty and they do not care. They eat up the money meant for the people and the development of the community.

Even in times of crisis, they do not care. Case in point : That IAS officer in Bihar Gautam Goswami who pocketed laks(or was it crores??) of rupees meant for flood victims. Can anyone get any more heartless than this ???

nd the worst part is that we the people are to be blamed. We elect these greedy people to power. Democracy we say. India is the world's largest democracy we say proudly.... What is the use if the result is politicians like we have today???

But look at it from another point of view..... There are no decent politicians to elect!!! Aprt from the handful of good guys, most candidates standing for elections are crooks in one way or the other.

The solution is that mosre young people of our generation stand for election. That is happening in a small way with Rahul Gandhi, Scindia, etc.... But then the number is again so small that they cannot do anything on their own.

And if we the educated people refrain from voting due to lack of decent candidates, then even more greedy pigs will be elected as the illiterate people will just vote for the person who speaks the most and promises the most and in most cases bribes the most.

This is a sad part of our country. We very proudly look at the sensex toda yand say that we touched 7200 points. But what use is that to the common man?? The common man who doesn;t even know what the Sensex is?? How does it help him ??

Theoretically, the economy booming means that the govt has more money to spend on infrastructure and development of the country. But in reality what happens is that the money is eaten up by the middle men. Right from the top fellow to the Panchayat at the village level.

And illiteracy is one of the biggest problems. People do not know a damn thing. They are taken for a jolly good ride by the cunning and greedy.

And just being literate is not enough. People must be taught as to what is what and politicians should be exposed for what they truly are.

We as an educated class should take a more active role in the running of our country. But I ask myself how??? And what is the use??? And the answer is that until the MAJORITY of our population change their thinking and views, our country will go no where.

Please post your own views and comments......

I want to know what other members at TE think of all this......

wooohoooo ..... gr8 dude .... u have written the right stuff ...... but along with shouting we will have to act accordingly to make our country shine ......anyways nice dude ......

well ur 18 now.... i remember thinking bout all stuff like this as well.... and now i feel ppl dont think about them the same way now...eitehr that or im changing !

its like when till a few years ago, i cud never let go of the tv,cable ,etc
.now i dont have time for it and my subconscious has come up with a lovely excuse- "they dont make them serials, movies like they used to ! " ,but the reality is that my perception towards tv has changed... it still gets newer generations of viewers, who adore it as much as i did when i was younger.

so ur in the right path dude.... no need to wonder if its just u saying all this.... coz its not...it might not seem likely, that most ppl u know synch with the same frequency ur in right now, but we all do think of similiar stuff...

like in politics(like the lalu thingi u said and many others)
...in sports ("whers the indian team heading !?" which happens when a new genration of news reporters come in :p ) ,
...careers("there so many ppl out there :O" - every generation has the same problems,so we shud erase any doubt that being born in the 1950 would have seen us all bcome ambani's any easier :P)
...technology ("i wonder how my kids will be ,they 're so much luckier :P"- the thought proces thru ur childrens children wud be the same :P )
...more politics & social stuff ("poor getting poorer, rich getting richer"- its always been like that, although its seems something specific to your generation)

...and so on .... so al i can say is.... its ur turn to think bout all this stuff....and suddenly ....im feeling old ! ;)

What our country needs to give itself a boost -

1. ISP offering 1mbps lines at an avg, at arnd 1k Rs/m.

Once India get's connected to the internet, there is no telling how far it would go.

2. CBSC - it has too little emphasizes on IT. Where otthers such as London's GCSC, O or A levels - rocket in these things.

3. Move the god gamn beggerso ff the road!

4. much clearer spacious roads.

i agree with Nikhil on every point, but what can we do, we are only a handful of some guys who think about it the way we are thinking now.

Params --- You say " Move the god gamn beggerso ff the road! ".

Where will you put them??? Is it their fault that they are born into a life of abject poverty and have to scrounge around in the garbage bins for clothing and food??

Try to imagine yourself in their shoes. You have a nice life... .you don't need to worry abt whether you can survive the rainy season or the winter. You don't need to worry abt when your next meal is coming from.

I know it is irritating to have the beggars on the road, but please have a heart. Curse the govt for their plight. No education because of which they cannot get a job. MY heart goes out to these people.

Next time it rains heavily, and you are enjoying it from the comfort of you home with a nice cup of coffee in your hand, try to think of the "goddamn beggars" and how they are trying to cope. No place to saty and trying to keep warm. And in the winter, when the temperature plummets and in the summer where the temp rises like anything.

Please spare a thought for them before making a statement like that. No offence meant.... please take my comments in the positive way....

But my disgust is not short lived..... I have been feeling like this for ages.....my parents and friends are sick of me cribbing abt this every time the topic comes up. And I am almost 19 now......

And what I really wonder is that India has never shone so brightly before in histroy..... It is now that it is reaching dizzying heights. And in spite of all that, the basic things are being neglected.

We are supposed to be a pretty much high tech country. Why is it that the farmers still depend on the rain for their farming needs?? Isn't it high time that they had some independance?? Shouldn't their have been some sort of irrigation facility in place so that the farmers could sleep easy at night in the knowledge that whether it rains or not, they can be assured of a profit??

Why do they still have to depend on the finnicky weather???

The weather especially monsoon makes front page news. That itself shows how important it is. And there is ABSOLUTELY no system in place in our country. See now itsef, in Guj and Bihar and Orissa, there are floods. In North Karnataka, people are waiting for the rains. Such an irony.... where there is rain, there is too much of it and it destroys the crops. Where there is no rain, the crops die.

Shouldn't there have been some sort of a system in place after almost 60 yrs of being an independant country??? And that too knowing that Agriculture is the biggest occupation in India.

ITs and BPOs are booming..... but what percentage of the people are emplyed there??

Guys its very easy to sit in our comfy chairs, coffee in one hand and cursing our goverment.

But instead of doing that, are you ready to join politics yourself and do something for the country.
And the worst part is that he is still elected to the govt. what are the people in Bihar doing??

Even i said the same thing, but then i met some biharis in my class at pune. They said that ppl there dont have an option when lalu's goons come in their houses and threaten them. Ppl there are illiterate so they vote according to the caste and religion factors.

LK Advani said what he said just to increase his vote bank. Trying to become secular hoping that he will get some muslim votes.

I would do that if there was some way of ensuring that we could really make a difference. and that will not happen until my dream comes true...... which is ---

All the politicians of this country,(except the good ones obviously) are in an aircraft which crashes and everyone on board dies. Then we will be ready for a complete overhaul of our political system....

Till then we will continue ti be ruled by idiots. We have a few young fellows in Parliament now. But what are they actually doing??? Nothing. Because they are in very minor positions. They are bing prevented from doing the major good work due to the older netas.

And even the number of young fellows is very very small.....

See in the US --- Bush(as much as I hate him) can run 10 miles every week. Can anyone of our politicians do that ??? Bill Clinton a 2 time ex-president is less than 55yrs old. And here...... 55 is very young. See Advani and Vajpayee two of the oldest politicains are 78 and 80+. Manmohan Singh is also very old. All the people in the top are oldies.

ah sometimes this involves 2 parties as well.. sometimes, the beggars themselves prefer to take the easy way out rather than work. i remember once my dad offered a guy a job at his construction site , gave his visiting card etc but the guy never turned up but prefered to work at the signal instead .. similarly we see govt give some ppl housing and these ppl rent it out and continue to live on platforms etc

dont expect changes till everyone feels the same way ;)

EXACTLY!!! Call me a dreamer but I hope there will come a day when the whole of India will awake and something big will happen. the scene I visualise in my mind is like the scene in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani where all the people come out of their houses and go to the prison and save that fellow.

Something like this should happen in a big way. Only then can something really happen.

And I agree with you abt the beggar part..... What you say is true....But there are also the bunch of beggars who are really that poor and do not have a choice.........

And spare a thought for the children...... they do not have a choice...... many of them do sell magazines and stuff on the roadsides. And they should actually be in school playing with other kids or studying or something.

The reason they do not go to the govt schools is mainly coz the quality of the schools are so bad. The parents of these kids think it will be better if they work and make some extra money.........

And why do we pay taxes?? so that the govt has money to spend on stuff like free schools for the poor, infrastructure(this includes everything.... roads and stuff in the urban areas, a proper irrigation system in the villages, etc..). But in the end, only a small amount of moeny is actually used for these causes. The rest is eaten up by the middlemen.

So, WHY THE HECK SHOULD WE PAY TAXES??? If most of the money is anyway going to end up in the fat bellies of those damn politicians, then what is the use of paying taxes???

I am going thru that right now, and wheres my country headed dilemma has taken the backseat...

The Best Thing a Person can do right now is sit and stare and even post his comments. That is why India is still far behind. Just typing stuff, writing petitions.. thats not the way it has to be done. If you want to change the country, go action. Get a few guys from around. Protest.

But oh i forgot, this is India.. Protest is a word that no man would acknowledge. Protest means that the guys have nothing to do. According to me theres nothing that can done NOW but just wait for the right time to come. It will come. We just have to wait. The above you right about is just politics. Be optimistic. take out the positive from india today.

Okay Ill Post A Few!
1.The head of the state Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. Extreme Best.

2. Dr. Manmohan Singh is our president. Even under the congress party, if he someday gets it going, everyone would be on their toes. Just one thing to say ..IF THE TOUGH GETS GOING, THE GOING GETS TOUGH.

3. Per-Capita Income increased to Rs.22954 around $400 which is still behind but atleast it is increasing.

4.The colleges and universities of India are producing some the worlds most finest workforce and brains.

These are just a few. Get on the positive side (especially Nikhil), The ministers will stay, Gandhi will not come back. But nothing is permanent. It would change. Look at the positive side. What has been mentioned in your thread is pure politics and nothing else. The hunger for power and money which leads to all of this.

Your growing up. Your generation and ours think like you do. The ministers now would die and some of us would become new. Instead of blaming others it is better if we check ourselves now and decide that we would not put the country it is right now.

Careers .......there are many many jobs out there(not just call centres)U open a daily like the times of India and look at the jobs section and ull find so many jobs........what is needed is a good degree

AS for our politicians,no one in the current breed has the following that was held by Advani and Vajpayee.Yes there was a Narendra Modi who put the BJP to shame or else the BJp would have been ruling this term.

Its a shame that a good and efficient leader like Dr. Singh has to bow down t the pressures to Mrs. Gandhi bcoz the RJD supported the Congress.

YES THE CONGRESS IS POWER HUNGRY I WOULD LIKE TO SAY AND SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS

Yes we also have politicians who are power hungry, had they once thought of giving people a better life and taking care of a number of problems like poverty, illiteracy, etc. they surely would be blessed.

I think its high time we think of getting a change within urselves and start doing something before the country goes to the Dogs

GR8 Motive of the thread Nikhil.Kepp it up.Thread Rated ..a full 5 stars from me

thanks you Freekill...... this was what I was looking for..... Though I am expecting more replies.... but then it is a sunday morning afterall.... :bleh:

And as for me, while the BJP was in power, I wanted to vote for them(I was not yet 19 during the last election). But then, after the Congress (UPA) got elected, the BJP showed it's true colours. I now hate the BJP more than the Congress.....

So, we talk abt people not fulfilling their duty abt voting for the elections.... I see it this way, what is the use??? Instead of electing a BJP criminal, you elect a crook from the Congress.... that is all.....

there is no way of choosing the PERSON you want to elect. EXAMPLE: If I could, I vote for Mnmohan Singh or S M Krishna.... but that cannoit happen.

My dad voted for the Congress(at that time SM Krishna weas the CM and we wanted him to retain power) in the previous state elections.... the BJP emerged as the single largest party. The COngress to retain power, kicked out SMKrishna(now he is Governor of Maharashtra) and made a coalition pact with the JD(S). The JD(S) is the biggest party of crooks and goons after the RJD. Just look at the face of that Deve Gowda gives me the creeps. Wonder how he actually became the PMK for sometime.

What a disgrace.

So, tell me..... what is the use of voting?? We are all filled with high emotions and evrything when we turn 18 saying that we will vote and all that..... now, I have decided, that it is a waste..... There is no way you can choose the person who comes to power ultimately. there should be a thing that we can vote for the person from the party.

Not just vote for the party and allow them to choose someone to rule the state or country.

And then there is the justice system in our country...... Let me not even start on that.... you all know what I am talking abt. The rape victims are not even given the treatment they deserve. They are told to marry their rapists!!! Why?? Shouldn't the rapist be hanged to death in the MOST painful way possible???

In a way a murderere is better. At least the victim is dead and gone. A rape victime has to continue to live the rest of her life under the shame and indignity of being raped. These are the things that depresses me........

Keep your views and comments flowing guys...... I want a good disussion going here......

ok guys...

just want to put a dampner here. Please remember we have people from all over India and the world here. Try to respect their views and keep of controversy. Discussing something is good but just make sure whether what you post does not offend others. My view is that everyone has his supporters. What is rogue for one is god for others. U may hate him, but others may like him. Politics especially is like that and the number 1 cause for flaming.
If you want to discuss something constructive do so but RESPECT others views and even more so THINK before you post that it may not offend others. We are a tech+fun board that welcomes people without any bars from all countries. Make sure we remain that way..

Ok... but then these are the facts..... that most of the politicians in our country are greedy selfish people...... They don't care a damn abt what happens to the country......

We really need something like what was shown in Yuva. Manirathnam needs all the kudos for bringing up such a bold theme and then making it into a film.

One example that shows our politicians in poor light - Nationalisation of water resources. Whenever this topic comes up there's a big NO from the heads of the state as though they own the river that flows thro' their state. C'mon ppl., everyone knows that something like that were to happen, it would surely put an end to the water problems in the country. I'm not saying that's easy to do or organize but atleast the politicians could try and start thinking abt. this. Gr8 going Nikhil for starting this topic.

I do agree with people here who say that india is been ruled by a bunch of oldies who do`nt give a dam about where india is heading too.. which is nowhere...
and ya what we need is a revolution.... just like the ones fought by our freedom fighters to make india an independant nation... just that this time its against indians, the corrupt greedy selfish politicians, the lazy paandoo, the rude BMC officers, and the damn old laws which only help the companies and not the poor people or labourers who work there....(talking about companies law)..
here people(the layman and the politician)take democracy for granted... sab chalta hai idher... man you gotta read articles and books by our precident Mr. Kalam .. to be really inspiried to do something for our country...
people talk about brain drain.. its a good thing actually... we don't want too many intelligent and smart people working here in india otherwise would'nt our country progress?? which would be such a sad thing for our political parties...
and do we need a qouta system??? seriously do we????... esp for SC/ST/NT etc... wha`ts the point in that?? and a qouta system for women?? when after 50+ years of independance you do`nt achieve caste and creed and gender equality then well what have you achieved in 50 years of independance?? ohh ya sorr forgot the most corrupt gov !!! :bleh:
and gender diffrentiation.. lol... i see quata system for women... as men telling em that well your my bi*** ... !! and that`s why the diffrentiation.. :(

i read an article in mumbai newsline wherein the politicians were complaining against too much involvment of the ALM's... lol.. i mean wtf ... first these guys dont do any work(Well most of them don't).. then when a group of people want some work ot be done or force these dumbos to work they complain.. and what complains..one corporator complained that she couldl`nt clean the drains for monsoon due to too much involvement of the ALM's.. huh?????? .... tell me even b4 the alm`s came up were the drains ever cleaned?? stupid people with stupid excuses....

talking about imporoving the infrastructure.. b4 trying the bulding roads, buildings etc. you gotta make the poeple who live in the city (or wherever)feel as if its their own city... what's the point in undertaking massive projects when your gonna have the same situation, massive crowds, traffic etc just a few years down the line..
when they cant build roads that would stay intact for even a year you think they are gonna turn mumbai into shanghai???.. i think this just a big scam... lots of money, lots of politicans involved.... a great opportunity to gather enough money for the the next 7 generations....!!
and there is no point in developing cities .. the idea is to develop towns and villages.. so that peoople do`nt migrate elesewhere and live happlily ever after in thse places..
with the amount of money generted as taxes developing villages and towns is not that difficicult.. unless you do`ntknow what the hell to do with em :bleh:
and ya i agree a lot of money and effort is been put in to dev villages, by the gov with the help of private companies... and involvement of private companies is only gonna help improve these.... but with the bereaucratic red tape.. well. that`s like a distant dream...
why not we form our own task force... ya we come from diff parts of the country but then thats the beauty of it isnt it.. we can definately come together (on te itself) and meditate on certain specific topics and post it here...
its a naive idea but would like someone to come up with a better one..

Ok..... nice to see that my topic has stimulated such debate...... keep the views and comments flowing guys.....

And as chic_magnet talked abt the quota system ---- I too am against it..... In the first 10 or 20 yrs of independance, it was OK. I mean, at that time these Sc/STs were really backward and needed some extra motivation and inspiration....

But after 60 yrs??? I don't think so..... Still having the reservations is only making them lazy.... they are now thinking that "anyway reservation is there.... why work hard??". That is the problem.... abt 1-1and a half years back the govt was planning to introduce reservations in the private sector also. That would have been an absolute disaster!!!

The reservations should be removed as soon as possible. I know it is not posssible to do so immediately like declaring today and doing it tomorrow.... but it should be done gradually and FASt.

The quota system has sucked and been misused by many........this has been done in AP also
But these guys have their own set of problems which weve overlooked -Practises like untouchability are still being followed, dalits are forced to eat their own excreta and what not humiliation they have to face. After all they are humans.....

It would be natural for them to cheat to have a better life with self respect and some more(I dnt intend insulting them in anyways but that is the state of affairs in many villages till today)

The thing is we want a change in ourselves but we dont know where to start from..There are quite good politicians in the cabinet currently like P. Chidambaram,Dr. Singh but they are forced to bow under the pressures of Mrs. Gandhi...............How do u expect our position 2 get any better??
As for Lalu i remember a pic in which all people were standing around themselves and they both were sitting and there was the national anthem going on.

Apparently the case was dismissed since the pic couldnt prove that the national anthem was being played in the background.

Also PIL i remember was of getting sindh removed from the national anthem(I am a sindhi btw)............How sick!!!!!Had the man sone some good work or atleast helped in some charity he would have been blessed instead of wasting the time of the court:@:@ :@:@:@:@
