The SB Live 24-bit exists ONLY in a 7.1 channel version. Do not be fooled into buying a 5.1 version. (Did a quick check of Baazee myself, and I did not find any 5.1 SB Live 24-bit)

At the moment, the easiest way to distinguish between the SB Live 24-bit and the standard version would be in the number of channels = 7.1 vs 5.1

Ok but why bother about the external connector.
Which TV tuner do you have?
If its internal tv tuner then most tuners have auxilarry out on the card. its exactly same as CD/DVD rom sudio cable. That directly plugs into your SBLive Aux connector using that cable. no external stereo cable is needed.
All pinnnacle and mercury cards have aux connector.
Thats what i use. Internal cable.

CREATIVE Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit card for sure...

WHAT???? A8N-E does not have a firewire port??? SHEESH!!! My A8V DEluxe has a firewire port!!!

Then I would really suggest that he go for an Ausigy 2 ZS. The firewire port is useful as hell for connecting a video camera and stuff.....

hi planning to install the card sblive card myself so what r the steps to be taken i mean do i have to first disable the onboard sound first or first install the card and then disable the onboard sound thanks

Install the card. Then start up your computer. Immediately, in the BIOS disable onboard sound.

Then save the changes. The computer will restart again.

Then allow windows to load. Then insert the CD given with your soundcard. The moment Win has loaded, you will get an ADD NEW HARDWARE WIZARD.

CANCEL that.

Install the drivers and software directly through the CD. Simple.

Restart your computer and you are good to go!!!

Disable onboard sound first, then install the card. Wait till XP detects it, then insert the CD or floppy and install drivers... Shoudl be fine, congrats on the new card BTW !

Not needed. The creative installer disables AC97 audio somehow :S.

but it is better if you do so manually.... Creative's driver and software sucks big time..... It gets corrupted all of a sudden. It is a big headache...... But then the sound quality more than makes up for it......

And here by software I mainly mean the dirvers. The other software is pretty decent.

i dont disable on-board audio at all. both are enabled but i can use only one at a time.. either the cound card or the on-board audio.. all i need to do is enable the right device in Control Panel..

I am using creative never had ne probs till date , my uncle & my cousin has audigy platinum pro & sb live 5.1 no probs with them also.

Guys my doubt was will i be able to connect 5.1 Speakers + TV Tuner SoundOut to LineIn of the SoundBlaster Live 24Bit 7.1 and use it simultaneoulsy.

And this discussion has gone in so much depth of discussion between various sound cards.

Sound Blaster Live 24Bit 7.1 is for 2K [Prime ABGB]
The reason i am going for this is becoz
I was unlucky finding Audigy 2 Value which is for approx 5.5K

Audigy 2 ZS is out of my budget.

I can purchase the Audigy 2 Value if its available here.

also am going for the A8N-E but whats the relation here i wont be considering onboard Audio of the A8N-E as it will consume CPU power for processing , dont want my CPU to do audio processing and loose on performance.

I already have a Creative SB Live 5.1 which has seperate connectors for front , rear , sub+center , mic , linein
but SB Live 24Bit has only 4 connectors only and they are multifuctional

If you already have a live 5.1, keep it and buy something later once the new gen x-fi comes out. I didn't know that otherwise wouldn't have recommended the live 24bit. The live 24bit doesn't have hardware audio processing since it doesnt have the EMU10K2(its still faster than mobo audio though). So ur old card will give u better fps than the live 24bit. I hadnt known that u already have a live 5.1 or else wouldn't have recommended it. You could try installing hacked audigy2 drivers on that live 5.1 to get somewhat better audio quality.
