Those screens are NOT prerendered.

please do try reading the thread and links being referred to before trying to defend yourself.

Fine, I stand corrected on the fact that those are in game screenshots.

But I still stand by what I said about such level of visual not being achievable without custom scripts/mods.

bah.. you can stand by the qutub minar for all i care :P

no one here claimed anything about the screens being from the game OOTB

I never asked you to care..:rofl:

I just said what I wanted to say after you posted that I was trying to 'defend myself'.

Lol.

OK, I can see you aren't capable of an intelligent argumentative point, apart from me 'defending myself', so I'll just save you the trouble of thinking and walk away. :P

You were wrong in stating that those screens were pre-rendered. You were wrong in claiming that the settings come from some 'console commands'.

All I did was point that out.

There really was no question of a argumentative point there :P

Yes but you're just stating the obvious :) nobody said that these were from the vanilla game. the screenshots just show the capability of the engine.

i wonder what we can expect from CE2 in the future.

Simple. Robotics > CGI.

The T-Rex from Jurassic Park still looks better than most movie monsters created till date.

Technology may have moved on but I guess the budget the maximum users can allocate to their PCs is much less as compared to the big budgets that Hollywood producers have for just 10-20 mins of CG. CryEngine 2 shows how powerful it is but there are a handful of PCs who can really exploit the full power of the engine.

what you are comparing is completely wrong.

movies = pre rendered
games = realtime rendering

that explains:) ,but somehow i feel there could be a differnet way.

Exactly.. Most of those Pre rendered graphics take days to render and they use render farms containing a large number of computers working in parallel.
