Crysis 2 has 'best AI in gaming history' - Crytek

I can't help but quote Yerli's statement from the above article:

"We think that Crysis 2 has the most advanced AI for both humans and aliens you've ever seen."

So with "think" being the keyword here, it doesn't seem like a very confident statement.

ohh man, so you guys did not find the AI of Crysis good? Or even that of Far Cry? I have always been a fan of Crytek AI. I found human AI of crysis more than adequate. Alien AI, not so much....

The AI in Far Cry was pretty damn good.

As for Crysis, I have only played the demo, and the AI was kinda stupid. I kill off a fellow soldier from some ledge above and the guy talking to him continued talking like nothing happened. Talk about being self-centered .

Far Cry, YES. Crysis, not so much. Far Cry had an insanely tough AI and were smart enough to counter all my grenades as well. Condemned: Criminal Origins had excellent AI behaviour as well.

I dont give a fark about AI (i always play on easy mode to complete the game quickly) , But hell-o-hell i care about the graphics, and i know Crysis 2 is gonna have some eye-candy ^^ :D

^^ ofcourse its gonna have that what else is "Crap-tek" (Sorry any crytek fanboi.) known for?

Except bringing GPU to their knees, with over the top graphics, just hope it is at least more scalable than "CRY-SYS.tem"

PS.... before I hurt anyones sentiments, I like crytek for bringing great graphics and good AI to the table,

but hate 'em for shitty coding, and "Overdoing" it. Even todays Single CPU and single GPU solution can't play the game at max and its been over two years since its launch !!! I dont think there has be any otjher game in History that even after two years after release can't be played smoothly with 45+FPS, by a half Decent Gaming machine.

These were teh Recommended Specs at the time of release, and compare it to today machines:

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)

Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent

RAM: 1.5GB

HDD: 6GB

Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)

Optical Drive: DVD

Software: DX10 with Windows Vista

Com'n Crytek, why do you make us upgrade our PC's everytime you guys release a game?

its not too hard to release a game with anything "Over the top." Its easy to code a high level of AI, its easy to code crazy Graphics but its is very hard to make it optimal for the users, or at least the code should run fine on a majority of System, and should not be only accessible to a handful of users. No matter what anyone says Crytek is a fairly young company, compared to major game developing companies and will learn a lot for other players in the market.

EA (though I dislike them to for other reasons.) look at them all their games are very scalable at least most of them. Or they will not release the code for a platform if they feel that the tech is inadequate, eg. is FIFA 2010, it is so very different on a PS3 than on a PC, cause according to EA only a handful of gaming PC's could run the code, if it was directly ported from the PS3 or XBOX code. (I will find the link to this comment and post it for reference.) They did not make the same game cause it would not run optimally, I believe Crytek should have done the same.

Still looking forward to Crysis 2, to see if I get above 10 FPS on my current rig. That would in itself be an achievement for Crytek.
IMO.

Dude you better buy a console and play games with auto-aim, if you still play games in easy. :P

I found Far Cry 1 and Lost Planet 1's AI very tough.

Sorry dont wanna be harsh, but rather than that just go watch a movie......and even avoid pressing buttons.....or just watch the game on YOUTUBE.com !!!

many people have their walk thrus level by level, you wont even waste money on the game.

Again sorry for being harsh....please take it as a joke.....I couldn't stop myself......sorry

The Crysis AI was average. When I launched it first time expected quite a bit (am an average gamer). Easy to spot militia and the cloak made it even more dorky. FC was damn hard. Clearly remembering searching for the hack cheat codes after 2-3 hours of frustration.

Shitty coding?
Which other 3 year old game do you know that still to this date looks generations ahead of games that are still yet to be released?

Crysis runs fine on my 9800GT and crappy X2 4800+ CPU at 1280x720 4xAA medium settings, 40+ fps always.
And at medium settings, it still manages to look way better than any other game out right now.

Now consider EA since you brought them up.
I tried playing BC2 on this same PC and it never gives me more than 25fps at 1280x720 0xAA lowest settings.

Not a Crytek fanboy, I haven't even played Crysis the full game; just stating facts.

Its an age old argument that Crysis was badly coded.... I disagree.... It looks great, maybe too great even after 3 years of release. There is not even a single game that can look like it @1920x1080 gamer settings, let alone enthusiast..... Folks who could not play it were jealous and the ones who could, found nothing great with the gameplay and complain about AI or something or the other. Truth is, it is the best looking game till date. It has better gameplay than most of the other shooters out there (maybe except BFBC2, and a handful others).
IMO, the only mistake that crytek did was to release it in 2007. They should have released in 2012 and nobody would have had the problem with it (Yes, pun intended).
On a more serious note, SLI/crossfire could do better. Maybe that way, the coding is not too great in the sense that the game does not scale well with sli/crossfire. Other than that I could not find any fault with the game. On my rig, I played crysis at high settings @1080p. Could not play the last level, coz the game kept on crashing, but that might be something that my system could not handle and I am not ashamed of admitting it. Warhead, I played at gamer settings with some @ enthusiast at 1080p. Both game gave me above 30 FPS avg. And trust me, this game can be played smoothly at 20.... Go figure....
