Dark Souls II - Discussion Thread

Hey Guys,

Just wondering. Should i play part 1 before i head to part 2? . I am a sucker for stroyline's, hence suggestions required.
 
There is no direct connection between DS1 and DS2...This game has no explained story to it..its just a journey u need to experience and get the lore and understand it..
A word of caution- This game has a very steep learning curve and it is for hardcore or very very patient players....There is a reason DS pc version is called prepare to Die Edition. Its the kind of game you will love to death or hate it a lot...Check the reviews before you buy it..I havent seen a player play(On youtube) without swearing or raging about the difficulty!! All that said its an experience like no other in gaming tho!

Physical release? Yes, that's pretty much it. I believe it's 2nd May. I haven't got it yet, still a long way to go for Thief. Besides, users are reporting issues with game crashing when switched to their HDTV's via HDMI, which is unacceptable for me. I need my big screen experience.

Lucky you. Still waiting mine from game4u. :(

If possible check out a few ENBs from dark souls 2 nexus.

Wrote to game4u to cancel my pre-order. Bought it from fk instead. Game4u is still in pre-order. So no dlc i guess.
I will try them out and report here, once i have my copy.
Feel free to update game progress with spoiler tag :)
 
Due to some mishap and an awesome return policy of flipkart :woot: , i finally got my hand on friday.
Took off work and started it off. Meet caldaster.

Finished Forest of fallen giants and moved on to the lost bastille. Level 41 speced completely random :) . Forest bosses were not that tough. Lot easier to find people to summon now and also no invasions yet.

You alrady level41...I Dont level so fast...always try to get best gear upgrades first...It makes invasions less brutal if you are lo level...but i noticed that invsions are lesser in ds2..Also if you co op the game is easy ...
The dragon rider is easy...and ornstein v2 is little better but not that hard
 
Oh .. didnt think like that ... i wanted to get more endurance .... and dex and str for weapon ... and it got out of hand.
Level 70 now (50k souls remaining) .... finished cathedral and tower of flame ... the bosses were easy.
I think i finished Lost Bastille ... not sure yet :) ....
Next to No man's wharf and sinner rise.

Did 3 invades in the Lost Bastille ... 2 success 1 failure ... people generally have someone helping in that map .... the one i lost he had 2 people helping.
Got invaded once in the tower .... but luckily i was wearing the blue ring and i got a blue phantom to help me and killed the guy.

Also joined the blue sentinels. Now to save people :)
 
Update : Level 99 now.
Finished a few more places. No Man's Wharf done. Sinner Rise done. Then jumped down the hole. Didnt go much far there.
Then roamed a lot and finally found belfry Luna. Then i was lost and checked wiki to find the way to huntsman's corpse and then on to harvest village and earthen peak.
Now roaming in shaded woods.

Gotta say they have reused a lot of the bosses from the DS1. Also bosses dont seem as tough as in DS1. There is just too many of them. It doesnt feel like a boss fight anymore.
Maybe because it so easy to find help. I usually go for a boss fight with 2 ppl. There doesn't seem to be too much variety in attacks u need to be careful of.

One thing i do hate is the durability. They made weapon durability so bad, u always need to have 2 - 3 weapons. Maybe more if you want to run without using bonfires.
Especially bad, since i co-op a lot and durability get used up there too.

PvP front, helped with a few invasions. Didnt get invaded other than by npc phantoms.

Am 22 hours in and felt a lot easier, mainly because like every other time i get lot more people to co-op with. So more boss/mob xp again and again.
My usual way to explore a new place is go as phantom in someone else world and learn the mobs/traps/secret routes. I am always ready for anything in my game ;).
Also the amount of souls to up at level 99 in DS1 is 58k but in ds2 is only 13k. But the bosses i have seen till now, net <20k xp ... so maybe they have reduced overall.

Also i have noticied one think they have mentioned before. If you kill the same mob over and over again, they will disappear. Max respawn is something like 10 times.
This becomes a lot helpful, coz some of the bonfires are extremely close to enemies, which a heavy chance for your death (esp one in Lost bastille and one in Sinners rise).

They over did the bosses...also can you tell me what does adaptability do????...I am just level 44..Not cooping much as the game goes to easy mode if you do it!
