Just saw on a news channel that Sec 144 has been imposed in New Delhi

Reference

A day after the extraordinary protests in the national capital that saw protesters clashing with the police right outside Rashtrapati Bhavan, section 144 was imposed by the government in the New Delhi district early in the morning. Police evicted the overnight campers at the protest venue in central Delhi.

... Rubbish :bomb:.

Wonder why govt is not promulgating an ordinance here. This is an important issue and has become an urgent one to be addressed as well.

WTF...this is no joke. Last time I remember this happened when the mob killed a cop for the Uttranchal protests in my home town. Back in the late 90's, I guess. Also just saw, Arvind is joining the protest. Ufff...

Why didn't any of these 'protesters' help the girl when she was thrown out of the bus? Why blame the govt/police only?

Care to elaborate? As per my understanding the victim lay on the road for about an hour before the police came. Why didn't any of the these outraged citizens take her to the hospital?
Were you at that place had taken to them at the hospital?
Are you aware how our systems work?
The protesters are protesting against the system and were there since yesterday morning since 9 in chilling cold. Have atleast some kind of humanity when your fellow countrymen are struggling to making things change.

Don't know whether it is right or wrong. but violence in any form and in any place shouldn't be tolerated.

So as per your opinion, raping is fine, what is missing is that people are not helping the victims, right?

Really shameful that you are silent about the brutal rape and instead focusing on what has happened after wards.

violence is not a solution to any problem.

Raping is also violence and the Govt/police has failed to stop that...
Cant anyone from the Govt come out and talk to the people out there? Cant they listen to them, cant they assure the people that strict action will be taken and they have started implementing it?
Is that so hard?

Probably not. But is only the system to blame? Or the society?

Really don't know how you managed to gather that from my post...

Blaming society for what? For raping?
Yes, we are all part of it but dont you think that there will be always anti-social elements in our they need to be punished?

Let me enlighten with your thoughts, do you believe that all these protests are worthless?

Just went outside to get vegetables, and saw protests starting in the market. A RAF van has pulled up. I trotted back home, pronto. It is getting volatile out there.

Ours is such a strange country. Female infanticide/Child murder rates keeps climbing. The media sensationalizes a Gang-Rape; rape-haters lambast their FB walls while an entire state goes on the offensive. And yet still tomorrow, the dead bodies of newborn females will turn up in mortuaries...

I believe the protestors have got their point across. It is about time they let the lawmakers respond. I for one believe that capital punishment for sexual assault will not serve as a deterrence. We've got death penalty for homicide. Does that in anyway bring down the rate of homicide? No, it doesn't. As is, it is exercised in the "the rarest of rare cases."

Is desh ka kuch nahin ho sakta
Agar apke jaise sab sochne lag gaye to sach me kuch nahi hoga.
It takes efforts & struggle to make things changes.

Do something for it.

Do something for it.

How can one change people's mindset? Too much hypocrisy, talk about sex and people think you're a pervert. And everyone's after rights, rights this and rights that, but no one wants equality.

Do what is possible in your hands, do not let any crime happen with your family/known people and in front of you anywhere. Even if you prevent 1 possible crime, that would be your greatest contribution. Doing nothing and seeing let it happen would be greatest cowardness.

I was also part of the protest yesterday, and it feels nice to see well educated youth coming up for this cause. There was news today that some took to violence, but I feel the people who took to violence were sent by the police/government only, so the police gets a reason to throw water/tear gas or to do lathi charge on the "students".
About the mentality, well, we cannot change it, thats why we need such laws THAT create fear among the criminal minded. But here, human rights are exercised on criminals only, they are not for the youth protesting in Delhi and all over India.
