Ok guys......

Around a week back I was sure I was gonna buy the E228WFP but after seeing the offer in GO for SP2208WFP I just can't help but rethink....

The price difference is 6k b/n the two....

I need to know whether the SP in SP2208WFP stands for a different panel (prolly better than TN ).....

Also for my observations SP2208WFP scores over the E228WFP in the following:
contrast ratio: 2000:1 compared to 800:1
response Time: 2ms compared to 5 ms
forget about the camera and the mic that is included with the SP version....

Which according to u all is a better value for money considering that I am gonna use it for the next 2 yrs....
P.S.: I have a huge collection of HD movies....So primary use is HD quality movies following closly by games starting from first quarter of 2008:)

Similar query I had in mind. In fact it seems like a good option at 6K more.

btw 2000:1 would be the DCR, and there's no way even PVA panels within that price range would do that contrast let alone TNs. Contrast should be more like 700~800:1 no more, and its probably much less - this stuff is always overstated.

We all know how TNs get lower response times ;) , the e228wfp is fast as it is.

This panel has RTC right? the e228 doesn't AFAIK.

2007WFP is also only 6k more i think & it's s-ips ;)

for 22 inchers which are all TN panels nobody should keep a 17k+ budget :)

Yep, the 2007 makes much more sense if you really want great quality, the SP2208 is a TN with an added webcam, speakers and some Dell image processing (TrueLife) thingy added on!

i would buy a 22" over the dell 20" any day of the week for watching movies & games. yes the 20" is a better panel but your requirement is not such. you need a bigger screen for games n movies which you will enjoy more on a 22" & it will also save you money.

with that said. the SP 22" seems like the newer TN panel that is used in samsung 226bw which has got great reviews. with that said your usage being movies n games i would save money n get the e228. but if you can extend your budget i would suggest to get the SP 22", its also got HDMI input which means you can attach a hd dvd player or ps3 to it without any problems at all.

@stormy, why are you so hell bent on getting people to buy the SP2208WFP & the 2208WFP when E228WFP has the same tn panel at a cheaper price ^o

hdmi can be implemented on any lcd with dvi just via a simple hdmi to dvi cable/adapter ;)

it is a simple choice:

e228wfp vs. 2007wfp = e228wfp

sp2208wfp vs. 2208wfp vs. 2007wfp = 2007wfp

:)

Well Both the monitors support HDMi but both of them do not have a HDMI input....
U can check here

It is clearly mentioned in the Interface section "Analog, DVI-D (Digital) with HDCP"...So I guess It means DVI port suppporting HDMi...same as the E228WFP;)

if it was the same tn panel then the specs would also be similar. as i mentioned earlier the sp seems to have the newer tn which is in the samsung 226bw which has some great reviews.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm..getting a 28 incher from dell. I got this Rs. 5000 discount coupon thing and used it. unfortunatly it says "valid for dell e228wfp anywhere in the world until stocks last". My friends from U.K. got of them and distributed accordingly :p

If you really wanna spend more for the newer 2xx8 sereies from Dell, then better wait for the 2408WFP. Maybe it will also be a TN Panel and cheaper than the 2407 seires. Atleast you will get 1080p resolution on the 24" er. 22" still has the same resolution as the 20".

As for HDMI port, there's no mention of that in the specs. It only has a HDCP enabled DVI as with the other monitors.

it does say it has hdmi,

& if you look at the pics of the backside where all the sockets are, there is clearly a hdmi port.

i am talking about the SP 22".

Those I think are the ports for the camera and Mic....
I contacted dell folks also...they too said its got only 2 outlets...
And if u look at the interface sections...Its exactly the same as the E22....
