PC Peripherals DELL Warranty ROCKS

Thanks Farookh,

Iam sending Dell an e-mail asking for refund.

I didnt notice too many problems coz I hardly used it...Whataver ghosting I noticed was off after reducing brightness. That changed until I decided to sell this here...Thats when I tested it with aXXo rips and its not pleasant. The noise in compressed videos seems more noticeable...Curiosly good quality ones play well and Im going to miss this color when I get the E228WFP...

Ok....hope Dell makes way for a quick refund.

Well i ordered mine on 10 th aug. and got the monitor on
4 th sept. So if i order a replacement will i get a brand new monitor or a refurbished one ??

Oh!! that's bad!! then i will have to stick with the current one.I don't want to go through the hassle of CRA, sending back the monitor, getting full refund and then buying something else with that money!!
Are you sure there is no way they will send me a brand new one ??

Think this way if you are not happy with the monitor.

Apply for CRA, use it till it gets processed and get some 22" or 2007...The CRA once approved is sureshot refund.

Iam not all that worried abt my monitor(as long as my brightness is down). Iam doing this as I feel its wasted on me...

I have not got any reply from them, but I only sent that email last night. I cant believe Dells warranty can be so good that they will let u have a peaceful CRA...Lets see...

Can Raghunanadan give some info on this.

Okay called dell, they said they will be sending me a new model(not a refurbished one).i asked them to send the october version----they said ya. So let's see what happens!!
but what surprised me is that they said they will send me one by monday and a few hrs. later i got a call from someone(not a dell employee) that they will be sending the monitor tomorrow itself. So let's see where that goes.

but the problem is the guy also said he will be taking away from current monitor, so i won't have enough time to test the new monitor. since currently i don't have any movies, etc to test the new monitor --is there anyway i can test the quality of the new monitor??

dead pixel buddy is one.Apart from that anything else??...And since my codecs are all messed up , can't use a video file to test it either!!

If its older panel, at default brightness and without calibration it will show cyan cast like ghosting around text fields while scrolling which will disapear upon reducing brightness...

Also check the perfomance with aXXo rips for video noise...

ya will see whether there is any green ghosting ard. texts in the new monitor. But don't have any axxo files. any other files??

Cmon, just download and play any compressed lower quality video.

If both the problems I pointed are not noticeable you are quite safe IMO.

no i didn't get it from i did was call up dell and explained the problem to them.i also told them what farookh said earlier. They said no problem they will be shipping the new monitor tomorrow.

guys i have the 22" Dell man!! how do i check for ghosting!!..on the windows screensave black..there is some bleeding at the sides is tht normal????

Okay havn't got my monitor yet.And since i have to rely on the crap from reliance for internet, havn't finished the download of axxo movies yet.

but i did try some cd quality(680mb files) movies (bourne identity, collateral, etc, etc) on my old monitor and frankly i didn't notice any noise. The only noise i see is when i play those youtube videos(it's a pain to watch those), when i hook up my tata sky to this panel and play other lower quality videos(usually home made clips).HD stuff is quite good.
But it surely has ghosting as well as backlight bleed ard. the 4 corners.backlight bleed is not a problem as you can only notice them when the PC turns on but ghosting is visible while surfing.

About texts being fuzzy, i didn't notice any fuzziness.

So let's see how the new panel is---- if it has any dead pixels or noise i will order a new one or stick with the current one.

@eagle

yeah the noise is in compressed videos and is more pronounced in this monitor than on the other 19"monitors....could it be bcoz of the size...I dnt know...but it sure is more noticeable..

As far as ghosting is concerned, tone dwn ur brightness..that does make a difference...

ya vij the noise is definetely there in compressed videos. i played a few song videos920-80mb) and a few tv shows(man vs. wild :size 350 mb) the noise is there.
I too am not sure whether that's because of the monitor or because of the videos.

anyway will be getting another one today and see if there is any diff.
