Diablo III - Discussion Thread

Act-1 is a piece of cake if you know what you're doing. I can solo it in my 105 percent MF (without NV) gear now, and my gear is pretty average.

Only speaking for Barbs here, but I think too many of them fall into the high DPS trap.
You don't need more than 7k DPS for anything in Act-1 and this includes the Butcher.

What you do need is atleast 30k HP, all resistances at 300 (450 after the Impunity buff) and 7k armor.
If you meet those requirements, nothing can kill you in Act-1 if you chose your skills well and use them correctly.

The only elites that will give you a problem are Dark Berserkers as those hit really hard if you don't learn to dodge their backhand swings (run away in a straight line, don't try to circle around as they will rotate 180d mid-swing and hit you anyway :p).

Basically wat he said. Act 2 is when things start to get really tough and you start encountering really frustrating elites The shielding ones are the worst in my opinion. Even my barbarian with 50k hp, 17k dps and AR 700-800(buffed with warcry) dies a couple of times in an Act 2 run but most of it otherwise is fine with those stats.

Inferno is awesome.. Just got owned so badly, got killed many times (probably per elite 2 times avg due to silly mistakes)

53, 3.5k dmg and 39k health barb now. Hell ACT II. Actually soloing seem to be pretty easier than pub. But its a lot boring so pubing for now. Should hit inferno next week. (weekend gone to guild wars 2).

Ya and even after it getting discovered blizzard hasn't come up with a patch. All Wiz's will go rock inferno farming i guess.

This is a really fun exploit. Like Krugur said, Blizz is not in a hurry to fix this. This exploit was actually found by the Chinese 1 month back. Wizards are now making crazy achievements. Like killing Inferno Diablo with NO armor on! LOL! Facerolling Inferno with 380 MF. Also yea everyone is now in a rush to complete their HC run with a Wiz.

BTW, I finally got Ghom yesterday solo with the Gas Grenades trick. I should've just looked it up before wasting 200K on repairs. :(

Finally Hit 60 on barb :). Hell Heavens now. Also got a sweet deal on a sword with 850+ dps. Got is for around 300k. Now at 12k dmg with 46k health. Time to dye everything red :D

BTW, if anyone is interested, Path of Exile is in open beta this weekend(July 27-29). Read a lot about this game, mostly on D3 forums, so I'm planning to check it out and see how it is.

The game has been in Closed Beta since last August and we have been regularly adding new content, classes and skills. The latest version adds a huge Act Two boss fight, the end-game Maps system and a new passive skill tree with over 1300 skills to customize your character with. The open weekend will include the first two acts of the game, Default and Hardcore leagues, six character classes, approximately 70 active skills, 40 support gems and hundreds of item types.

We will make the game servers public from 5pm on Friday 27 July Pacific Daylight Time until 11:59pm on Sunday. Over 48,000 people played during our last Open Weekend in May. Any feedback you provide this weekend will help us get ready for our permanent Open Beta.

The AH and the frustratingly boring itemization ruined this potentially great game.
It's an excellent experience while you're leveling up, but everything goes to hell once you hit the cap.

The best items in the game are nothing more than pure stat dumps. There's no cool stuff like knockback, cooldown reductions, debuff enemy resistances, etc.
All the supposedly great items do is give you lots and lots of stats and resistances, that's it. Pretty boring and unimaginative.

D3 cant beat D2 in any way except few minor upgrades (that too taken from other ARPG) and Graphics..
AH totally spoiled the game where previously there was thirst for item hunt and Lvl up now nothing.. There are few things about D3 but that don't add up to the level of D2.

I am waiting for Patch 1.1. It will bring PvP and is said to address the very issues that you mentioned.

In regards to strict gameplay and design, D3 is far ahead of D2.
The level grinding and skill system in D2 are archaic and I really wouldn't wanna go back to the old system after having played D3.

Even the farming is more structured in D3 as I can farm the area I like the most hunting for Elite packs without missing on Rare loot.
In D2 and other ARPGs you're forced to farm Bosses for the best loot. It's really mindnumbing playing the same area and the same predictable Boss every 3 minutes.
People did it anyway because there was the promise of really good loot, and this is where D3 fails :(.

If the gameplay in D3 is 15 steps ahead of D2, the itemization is 10 steps behind :p.

I will disagree with u saumil.
I think the skill system was better in d2. It actually promoted replaying the game and provided a more variety feeling. It was also permanent, making u think before allocating. More over u got the points u could allocate to any stat u want and made for a lot of diff styles. D3 feels a lot more restricted. In the name of making simple, they have removed these core parts of the game.

Itemization i agree is lacking. They also should not have made a level cap of 60. Should go to 100. Makes it more fun. And increase the level of the mobs according to level of the player or the level of the player with the highest level.

Get enough Strength to equip the armor you want and invest the rest in your Primary stat and Vitality. That was D2's stat allocation in a nutshell.
Yea, you carried out the actual process of clicking in your points but an illusion of choice is all it was.

Also even D2 allows full skill respeccing now, it's just a matter of the gameplay evolving over time. I feel D3 combines the best of both worlds with a fully modular skill system and then adding some rigidity to it with the Nephalem Valor system.

Set-in-stone skill trees are fine for proper RPGs but ARPGs tend to focus more on the action and loot rather than the roleplaying.
Unfortunately D3 nails the action and gets the loot completely wrong.

Yes, although I am lvl 51 so don't know about the new Paragon system, the loots are slightly better now, and the monsters somewhat easier in coop. There are some minor cosmetic changes as well, but I doubt it will bring back all the players that left. Not until they completely revamp the loot system.

Hmm, better loot now huh? Probably may take a break from dota 2 and check the changes since I stopped playing D3 about a month ago.
