I doubt if things will ever change until there is a major uprising against this.

What good is a pepper spray or even defence training do when a poor girl is attacked by a mob. Such filthiness

Heard that. Pradati maidan is useless. Needs more security for the girls and the cars. No wonder I have been planning to leave this country ever since I could think straight.

YOu shouldnt blame the country. The country doesnt teach people all this. Besides if you come down south, you can see the difference. People dont act like savages. You dont have to even go to delhi. Just climb onto trains and you would see the difference.

Hell for that matter, even mumbai is safer.

Up north people thing think that they are some kind of kings and have right to do whatever the hell they want to do.

I'm not blaming the country per say but its people and attitude.

I have lived in South and West India for 2 years before I shifted back in October last year. My opinion after that stay is, yes people are more helpful and its safer but I have never seen a more racist part in the country. As soon as anyone heard me or any of my friends talking in Hindi, their attitude changed and it was almost like they would crucify us for being North Indians, especially cab drivers, auto rickshaw drivers, police personnel and government officials. I or any North Indian I know has never ever encountered such things in the North.

Demi-god attitude does exist in the North. Its a sad situation. But it totally depends on what kind of environment, family AND friends not OR, they have been brought up in.

The same exists in north india as well.I have seen people make fun of the south indian food and what not.

But the subject is not that. It is whether we are safe or not? And South is more safer comparatively and thats statistics speaking

and about crucifying thing are you referring the movie "deshdrohi" by any chance ?
<

people in the west india are more accomodating as a matter of fact.

Eg : look at the vast slums in mumbai for starters

I have lived in Bangalore for 7 years and New Delhi for over 3 years. I really cannot say which one is safer. But there are some areas in NCR esp in and around Noida and some Areas like Delhi-karnal and Delhi-Manesar areas that should be avoided esp by young couples esp on nights like this.

Central Delhi and west delhi areas are as safe as any other area in India if not more.

As someone said above,Incidents in the capital get reported more in the media and generate more eyeballs, hence the attention.

But I personally think these boys/men should be punished, Hard. Any person who has a police case against him should Not be allowed to purchase alcohol anywhere in the country and his details should be made available to all public places like multiplex' , malls, pubs, etc. So that they are denied entry. Infact rather then wasting so much time , energy and money in miscreant management their cases should be decided by fast track courts

I have been living in Delhi all my life i.e. 25 years of it & have made a point not to let a girl bear the teasing in front of me & have stopped it many times. If you are talking about mob & all just stepping up strongly do help because we Delhites have a ego of a hot air balloon. As soon as we get pumped up we flatter down. Try it sometime as people who are from oustide Delhi & have lived in Delhi do know about it quiet well.

Agreed on that. Most areas in Delhi are not safe.

I was just pointing out what me and my friends have experienced...

I have never made fun of anyone due to caste, colour, language, etc.

same here mate.

The thing is people get an emotional connect when they speak in their mother tongue.

Every other state in india has their own language and by default they should /would be the majority population residing There.

So people treating you differently has got nothing to do with discrimination based on language.

Each province has their own set of customs /behavioural patterns associated with it.

It is just the matter of adjusting oneself to those patterns.

Let Me explain you in another way.

If you could remember the monkey gate episode. The words uttered by harbhajan may not offend some but you say something like this in other part of the country and you may get bashed.
