Digilocker - reliable and safe?

Why use BHIM app when you can use the registered mobile number while booking Indonesia Gas or HP Gas because this is hassle free and you will get immediate confirmation via an SMS from the respective agency.

I use the Indane app to book the gas cylinder. I do not pay from there, because I like paying from the pay apps itself, and I do not trust the payment systems of the gas agencies, in case it runs into a problem. So, I use the BHIM app to pay, which gets the details of the payment from the reference number.

I use digilocker app on mobile and have used it to show Driving license to traffic policeman once when I forgot to carry the physical DL.
Didn't face problem.

That's great. Yes, Digilocker can be helpful in such situations.

I don't use Digilocker regularly, but had updated all the documents that can be fetched using the service and keep it there just in case I don't have the physical document with me at any time since Digilocker is officially supposed to be recognised by all government entities and is now officially also integrated with passport seva.

Yes, that's why I was thinking of opening a Digilocker account, because that way there will be an online copy of the document to show in case I do not have the physical documents. Also, it is an added advantage that on Digilocker the documents are recognized by the authorities. And of course, there is the additional security of having online copies in a safe and secure place, in case you lose the original document somehow, and we all know how it can be a painful process to lose a document, and to get another original from the respective department.

One benefit of using UPI on various other apps is the cashback. I guess it varies but the last couple of times I received 37 and 25 bucks as Amazon Pay cashback for transactions of 500-600 which is fine as I use Amazon regularly for purchases.

I only got cashback once from PhonePe, which went to its wallet. Otherwise, nowadays I just receive different coupons as rewards, which are pretty much useless to me as I don't use those shopping sites. I anyways don't shop much.

But, I think nowadays the pay apps have stopped giving cashbacks, or give it less if they still do.

GPay has far too many issues with payments getting stuck and they have also nearly stopped providing cashbacks.

Yes, I read about GPay having issues with stuck transactions, and that is why I opted for PhonePe.

Been using it for years ... very useful. Works everywhere. I don't carry PAN/AADHAR/DL etc. Has worked at the airports too. Its a gov app. use without fear.

That's great to know, and also encouraging.

Thanks for the correction :).
I carry every kind of document because paper carries more value in case of verification and confirmation.
Sometimes DigiLocker does not open then what to do?
So its always better to carry proper physical documents.
Because we advocates know very well whats the value of paper.

That's quite true. Original document always holds more importance. But, on Digilocker, if the documents are valid, they hold importance too. But yes, some authorities might refuse to acknowledge the online documents.

I mainly want to open a Digilocker account, because I will have copies of different original documents there, in case I somehow lose the original ones, or they get damaged. So, it will an added backup for me, and that too in a safe and secure place.

I too like to carry physical documents, because I feel more safe with them to show to the authorities in case they refuse to acknowledge the online documents.

For cross verification or cross checking physical documents are the only way to go since they will be stamped.

If Digilocker does not open then what is the way to go?

From my personal experience we shifted from Singapore Township to Mallapur since my wife got a job in Central government from Infosys,
Then my father's Indane Gas Account needs to be shifted but the agency which covers Mallapur, Hyderabad didn't accept our papers right away so in order to cook I took a help of a good neighbor who gave us his extra Indane Gas Cylinder.
So after a month or so they accepted and we got our own cylinder the next month.

In these such situations even Digilocker will not be of any use when the local agency does not accept even physical documents which were stamped by the previous agency.

Thats why I said if physical documents are not accepted then what is the value of documents stored in the Digilocker.

Just my experience I am sharing.

And because for paying purposes many types of payment services came into being since the last 2 years and that too because of Mr.Modijis initiative.

So I am right now using GPay, PhonePay & Paytm for any kind of payments from cab services, monthly electricity dues, swiggy/zomato bills etc

But the old ways are always the best I think so.
My opinion only. But then we need to go to the nearest bank and pay so this is a hassle thats why such services are becoming famous and making our lives easier as we go.

Tried to create account on Digilocker today. Entered all the details for a new account, and clicked Submit... but I am not getting the OTP after that on my mobile. Tried twice.

Edit: There must have been a problem from the Digilocker site. Today, I received OTP and created an account. Fetched PAN, Aadhaar, DL, and Vehicle registration from their sources. Liking the service so far.

Good to have soft copies of these documents online.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
