Frankly enough, i dont see the Indians winning the Test match series this time round.

And that fat man, Zaheer khan has got something to do with it.. He should have looked into his fitness. Him and yuvraj.. Dont know how they make into the team and still flaunt that paunch :@

Get paid to be a sportsmen and that family pack they have for their abs.. simply ridiculous.

RP Singh, and Pathan could have made a difference but that's our story with the seamers.

@Mods:- Pls add an option at no 3.. Test Series - Draw.

Frankly enough i dont see a draw coming up as a result. Either India will wilt or will just scrape through.. but what the heck.

India will be buttered across the lawns imo. England will butcher them in the Test and One day series. the 20-20 could be in india's favour, since the ipl just got over.

OT:What's with Star Cricket HD and their own useless commercials in middle of the match :@

HD channels shouldn't have even 1 commercial in them. Ten Sports, Star Sports, SetMax didn't have even 1 commercial in their HD channels during the IPL or tests or wimbledon.

Zaheer's injury is a big blow to India, if he is out of the series it would weaken the already weak Indian bowling attack. There ordinary bowling and fielding efforts have already been exposed in the first innings but what will be interesting to see is how will our batsmen cope with the conditions. Day 3 will be crucial for India, England too doesn't have a great bowling attack and with the formidable Indian batting lineup, it won't be easy for england. DRS is being sorely missed here, maybe things would have been very different had DRS been implemented in this match.

^Which is the most important feature of the DRS, isn't it? Also, can teams appeal against the umpire's decision like in worldcup?

Absolute sacrilege. Going out after bowling 13 odd overs on the first day of the series. If Zaheer was not fit then should have sat out.

1st Test - Ind Tour SA

http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2010/engine/match/463146.html

The exact situation happened during the SA series (but Zaheer had sat out) and though India struggled in the first match, the grit and determination shown in the next 2 matches against a quality fast bowling attack was appreciable. By the end of the series even Sreesanth bowled with a lot of discipline and picked up good breakthroughs. Harbhajan could not pick many wickets, too.

Problem is that England have Swann and not Harris, who will create some troublesome situations.

Sehwag is missing from the lineup, I'd want to see Nehra or RP in place of Zaheer (assuming he does not play all 4 tests). Pathan has lost his guile and Praveen has sort of replaced him with his swing.

Should be an interesting series. Never seen England score so many runs this consistently (last 18 months or so).

I would rather stick with the snicko and the hotspot.

Hawk eye really doesnt takes into consideration a number of factors and it is more prone to aberrations. Having mentioned that, snicko and hotspot havent been error free but they dont leave anything to chance where as hawk eye is still not based on robust set of equations which it should have been right from its inception. Any modification in the underlying principle of the hawk eye will def make changes to trajectories it has earlier predicted.

Kevin DRS-ed a caught behind appeal and got the decision overturned in his favor.

Sehwag, Zak and Gambhir.. all bloody after IPL. On one hand we have Michael Clark of all people, staying away from his home big bash tournament for the sake of the game and here we have these jokers sticking to club matches to earn more.

Moreover, all fatsos should be sent to a body sculpting center and not allowed to come back unless they look like a sportsperson.

I for one dont think India will be bashed as such in the test series. This unit is one determined bunch. Just look at the way they bounced back in South Africa last year. That was the BEST bowling attack in test cricket then and still is now. Gosh, the battles between Steyn and Morkel and Tendulkar were epic in the 2nd and 3rd tests.

Coming back to this series, its disappointing Zaheer has yet again picked up such an injury in the first test itself. Anyone remembers Australian tours of 2003 and 2007?

And whatever happened to RP Singh :(, the man such a force in the last tours to England and Australia.

I still favor the Indian team to pull a rabbit out of the hat with a depleted attack. Just hope Harbhajan gets into his stride. He bowled far slower and loopier yesterday instead of that flat trajectory he is often resorted to in the last few years.

^^ Right, plus Lord's is generally a flat track with little or no spin (for the Indian Bowlers :p )

I do hope that we have 3 fully fit seamers throughout the series who can "use" the conditions at the right time. If that happens then the batsmen should be able to negotiate English Bowlers. Tight series 2-1 either ways, I say.

Hearties congrats to Dravid for becoming second highest scorer in test cricket.

He overtakes Ricky 'spit-a-palm everyday' Ponting.. who interestingly is neck n neck with him for the no of test matches played and even pretty near equal in average as well.

If not for his century.. Indian side would have been gone.

Sachin played with fever, but still expected him to go past 3 figure mark.

Dunno why Dhoni's lost his aggressiveness :( That's the sole reason he ain't into runs by adopting that defensive technique.

Harbhajan Singh : NO COMMENTS ! that guy's not even making a single run contribution with his bat, and for his bowl, better not to speak anything.

The seam bowlers are doing the job well. In this famed indian batting line-up, only Dravid, Laxman & Yuvraj have been able to make a mark.

This is the future of Indian cricket. Not a single player in the current crop of batsmen is of Test quality - Yuvraj included. The last good Test quality batsmen that we got was Gambhir, and he is chilling his heel - oops shoulder. These are T20 players, who have won their place on basis of their performances in the lollipop version of the game. Minus Dravid and Laxman, the matches wouldn't even have lasted this long

Dhoni dosn't look interested in playing , keeps dropping balls when keeping , looked worse than a tailender when batting.

well, Dravid is there for the time being and he is definitely a good Test/ODI player but ofc, not the future of Indian Cricket..

Star/ESPN's coverage is even more frustrating. On a "batting" day India got bundled out for 288 after being 240 something for 4. Yet, they keep singing about Dravid's century etc.

Yes, it is a great feat , 34th century is a superlative achievement and Dravid has always been in the background, but in the context of the game Broad's hat-trick ruined India's chances of posting a first innings total of 350. They should have talked about what English players are doing right, bowling wise.

Over the years, ESPN's coverage has become so India biased its unbelievable.

Watch "Flashback", a filler from the Eng-Ind series 2007, and you will see how BAD the Indians are batting this time around.

Don't have much to say on IPL, right from Set Max's studios , presentation and jokes, everything is cheap.

It's high time BCCI makes two teams for Tests and ODI+t20 resp.

Harbhajan Singh, Tendulkar, Raina, Dhoni all need to fire. It's a shame that Sreesanth has contributed more than what these have done in 2 tests.

Rahul the team man:-

Team Mgmt:
1) Gambhir is injured, will you pls open the innings ?
2) Zak is injured (again), will you pls keep so that Dhoni can bowl ?
3) Our IPL cheerleader batsman cant bat so will you also pls drop anchor ?

Dravid: No Sweat.
