I think this is the demo we'll probably get:

Also with this video, I'm mildly impressed (:P):

and finally Vergil's Downfall DLC:

^ Yep we got the same demo. Played it. Somehow I dont like it. Sword moves are just not right. In a combo, the ending strike gives the impression that it leaves Dante unbalanced and falling over. 1-2 "oh the environment is crumbling, u need to run" parts in a whole game seem good (ala Binary Domain) but there are 3 times within a small demo. Makes me shudder when I think of numbers in a complete game. Overall art is refreshing, gay Dante notwithstanding. :)

Just tried the Demo. The boss fight seriously reminded me of this -

The amount of swearing before fighting the boss was just plain stupid. Nothing against the 'F' word and I am sure the word itself is embarrassed and feels used.

The dialogues are horrible and so are the cut scenes.

I think I saw an option 'Mute All'. It seriously should be used.

Controls need a bit of getting used to. Brain dead button smashing led to cool combos on screen.

The good stuff -
In the mission 'Under Watch' it felt like you have entered an alternate dimension and you can see people moving around the streets in places but they are totally oblivious to your presence. Felt more like Matrix than DMC but still liked that bit.
Vergil admitting - "The game has changed." It sure has - the characters are now pathetic potty mouthed idiots.

Completed the demo.

Why i should not play it.

1.G@y & Idiot looking Dante.(looks+personality included)
2.Stupid and kiddish script/dialogues.With equally awful presentation.
3.Boring boss.
4.DMC is perhaps famous for having a simple story, melodrama,Action, more action, style & ofcourse our sassy Dante.Unfortunately here none can be found.Instead some self proclaiming smart ass at ninja theory came up with a sarcastic story.Where the cameras, medias, banks, companies, advertising agencies etc etc are tagged as the demons of the modern world.Which are poisoning the humanity slowly. Why the hell they dont understand ITS DMC and people seldom cares for these. Its less brain and more action!
5.set pieces inspired from RE series and previous DMC series. Minor Bugs(hope they will be fixed in the final version)

Why should i play it.

1.The game looks awesome!Only when zoomed the textures looks bland otherwise its quite beautiful.(You may argue about too much bloom .But as far as i am concerned its ok.)
2.Almost stable frame rates.Around 40-45 avg. There are some fluctuations though but they are very rare.
3.If you are not into DMC for its characters and story but only for its actions & combos then you wont be disappointed it offers a lot.Combos & finishing moves are satisfying. This new dante has powers of both nero and dante combined from dmc 4.
4.You can map the buttons of your controller.(Damn i miss this feature in almost every game)
5.The gameplay can be quite challenging if you are aiming for a "S" rating as you have to remember every move.

In the end ofcourse the choice is yours.

Since everyone out here has already thrown the new "Donte" a welcome party, let me chip in with my views on the demo. I played this 2 days back, but had to find some time to gather my thoughts and compose myself, before posting an impression.

As a DMC fan:

You'll decide to choke the life out of Ninja Theory for this. The franchise has been known for setting a benchmark for it's fast paced gameplay mechanics. It was fast, it was slick and it had style. DmC has managed to take all of that out, integrate some new shit in and experiment with it. You primarily have 5 weapons right off the bat; Rebellion, Arbiter, Osiris and Ebony & Ivory. For those who have played Devil May Cry games, would already be familiar with 3 of those weapons. Now about the gameplay, it's slow and I mean S....L....O.....W! Rebellion's slashes feel so sticky. Stinger and Aerial Rave are pathetic. Helm breaker hardly shows any impact. Million Stab and Drive animations are really dull.

Arbiter is possibly the slowest weapon you can wield. Mostly used as a defense breaker for the relatively powerful foes. None of it's moves are really worth mentioning. So we'll just skip ahead. Ebony & Ivory are fine, I mean they aren't as fast as in Devil May Cry 4, but it's acceptable for building your style meter. Rain Storm is again slowed down, which is really shitty as it used to be a good move, if combined with jump cancelling combo. Osiris is probably the only weapon which feels mildly fast with it's move-sets. Devil Trigger is a...I don't know what have they turned it into. Your hair goes white and all the enemies are lifted in the air and you can hack away at them. God, what a waste!

Styles have been taken out. WTF? Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royal Guard, Doppleganger, etc. There's nothing to even compensate for this feature. I guess the same goes for gaining new weapons. We would obtain the weapons of the bosses, after defeating them, in almost all the previous DMC titles. I don't think we'll be getting anymore weapons past the above listed ones. Your only hope lies in upgrading the existing ones. BOOO!

Enemies are a joke. I started out on the Nephilim difficulty and it was pretty simple. Their attack patterns are constant and none of them posed a huge threat. Boss Fight was f*cking hilarious. It was more of a Cerberus boss fight from DMC3 with poorly tied sequences.

I like the art-style. The level design is well framed and the small flashes of people around you is a nice effect. Visually, the game looks pretty good. Of course, it's not even remotely close to Capcom's MT Framework tech, but what else can you expect from the aging UE3. The performance was quite stable on the 360 version.

There was one boss fight included; The Secret Ingredient. LOL! The cut-scene prior to the fight is a perfect example of how ridiculous the writing and voice acting is in this game. I can't believe Ninja Theory has f*cked this part up. I mean they showed some great promise with Heavenly Sword, but this is absolutely horrible. It's not like the previous Devil May Cry games has oscar worthy dialogues, but at least they were acceptable.

Finally, the characters. I'm going to have to take a silent fart on this one. I think we have bashed Dante enough, so I'm not even going to comment any further on his design. We have a brief meeting with Vergil, who is just some guy who likes to think he is Vergil, but is actually NOT. Then there's Kat, who's sort of like this spiritual guide to Dante. She seems to closely resemble Kai from Heavenly Sword. YAY for more Ninja Theory recycling. :P

Anyway, for true DMC fans, this one is a major let down on almost every count.

For non-DMC fans:

All the above points are rendered moot. What you'll get is a decent hack-en-slash title with stupid-ass dialogues and flimsy looking characters. But you'll have a good time with it. Forget there ever were DMC games before and consider this as your fresh gift for the coming year.

The console version is locked at 30 frames per second. Capcom themselves have confirmed this.

1:51.Like prabs said.

That means my guess was almost correct.;)
But you dont feel it much. Its well optimized so that the game can easily emulate the 60 fps responsiveness.I mean in some games even if you play at 30 fps you will feel slight lag in response.where as in others you wont.

I might as well skip this title going by your reviews. As much as I loved playing DMC 3 and 4 back then, I don't suppose this one would do any justice to the original series developed by Capcom. I have no idea what has happened to Capcom either. They have been publishing some unworthy titles off lately - Asura's Wrath, RE: Operation Racoon City, Dragon's Dogma. Even RE 6 failed to impress. :(

DmC Devil May Cry - PC Announcement & Gameplay - Official Trailer 2

DmC PC Release Date and Specs Confirmed

Are thirty extra frames per second worth a ten day wait?

In most cases, whenever we PC gamers see the words "coming to 360, PS3 and PC," we automatically append "eventually" to the end of the sentence. Sometimes the seemingly arbitrary delays are brief, and sometimes they go on for weeks or even months. Capcom is keeping the wait short for the PC version of DmC: Devil May Cry, however; It hits shelves just ten days after its 360 and PS3 counterparts, which are set to launch on January 25th.

The close release dates are nice, because barring any poor-porting shenanigans, the PC version of DmC is likely to be the better choice. Unlike its console brethren, the PC version of DmC can run at 60+ frames per second. The console versions' 30FPS limit is a major area of contention for fans of the series, second only to the color of Dante's hair in terms of raw drama.

Yes. Devil May Cry games have always been controller friendly. Chaining combos, movement, weapon switching, pretty much everything was much more fluid with a controller. A point to note is that none of the earlier games allowed free moving camera control; it was fixed. This game, however, allows full directional camera control. So that would be controlled by your mouse. From the demo, I'd say you wouldn't have a problem with movement. It's the attach part, which you might need to be concerned about. I'm not sure how the controls are mapped, but if the sword slashes are mapped to mouse, then it would be extremely tedious. Switching your focus onto other enemies would be another problem, as this game has removed the lock-on feature.

So if you ask me, the ideal choice (and the preferred one) still remains a controller.

Finally back to gaming after 1.5 month break
i am still in a break.:D
Anyways gaming quality has deteriorated over the years. That guy in the dmc demo analysis was right. MGS(mgs4 for me) is the only game whose cutscenes can be watched repetitively.
