Dog bite, what should i do ?

Guys I did a very stupid thing today. Here it goes:

After playing the usual 5 matches of volleyball, me and my friend were coming back when we noticed a small little dog sitting real shrivelled up (he was very thin and probably hardly 15-30 days old.) We went up to his place and got some bread crumbs. He ate them. But we thought that he would be directly exposed to the hot sun tomorrow and he didnt appear to be able to move out the sun himself.

So i voluteered and thought I would pick him up and place him in a more protected place. Long story short, I got bit. He nibble the palm of my left hand and left a puncture wound. I immediately ran to a nearby tap and totally scrubbed the place using my right hand thumb till it started bleeding. I dunno if it was a smart move, but its done.

So guys what do u suggest I shoudl do? All this happened today @ 10:15PM.

I will advise you to go to a doc and get a shot just in case... Do it in 24 hours time... The sooner the better and its not stupid what you did... I would have done exactaly the same just that i would have been a little careful...
 
anti rabies is necessary depends on the wound .. if u have taken tetanus bacilli booster dose when u were born anti rabies injec might not be 100% important to take if the would is little.
if wound is much anti rabies injection must.
take tedvac [speleld wrong] RIGHT NOW.
and go see a doctor.
if wound is deeper wash with 5% kmno44 solution and immediate sdee a doctor and arrange for anti rabies injections.

yaar it didnt look as if it could even move.... yea i became a bit jyada free. but..... hmm.

i will go to the docs tomo first thing. can someone tell me what kind of damage (money wise) should i expect. this so sucks. also, is it possible to directly go to some medicine shop and get the required shots instead of having to go through doctor. i mean what more can the doctor look at/prescribe.

hmm, now this is scary.....:huh:
 
no no karan see a doctor can u post a pic of the wound.
i'm seriously ytelling you if the wound is deeper and blood drained a lot see doctor if possible go to a hospital now.
and no without seeing doctor dont take injections specially rabies thts just my opinion.
but u can take tedvac though from a local medicine shop right now but still ask any guy for better advise.
i dont feel like advising these with 100% confidence.

it was just a light nibble. like a bit of the skin came off..... it was still attached. just i ran to the tap (within 5 secs) and totally scrubbed the hell out of that place. only after tht it bled for like 10 secs then stopped (cuz i pulled the skin off while rubbing it.)

also, i hv no idea what this tedvac is. please advice.
 
do you have the dog with you right now as u need to keep the dog in watch .. though its not much necessary.
and tedvac costs rs 5 or something i guess :bleh:
rabies i guess 4 doses of rs 600 or 6 doses of rs 400.

see my dad told this.
go see doctor right now.
take a tedvac injection immediately.
if doctor says take anti rabies.
keep the dog under watch for 10 days.
 
Dude, please visit a doctor soon and get an anti-rabies treatment/something.

A distant relative of mine died recently when her pup bit her (only a small scratch according to her relatives) but she died 2 months after it due to some brain problem(which was later found to be related to the dog-bite).
 
tedvac is a injection available in all shops i mean all medicine shoips and even any guy can apply this to you its given incase of severe cuts or wounds from rusted iron pieces or these type of attacks.

go see a doctor right now go to hospital dont take any risk.
they will burn the place with some lotion and dress it using bandage.
see doctor for antirabies.
but take tedvac as soon for primary safety.
 
see keeping the dog in watch for 10 days is extremely important .. i hope it wont be a problem for you.

and u've takes anti rabies injection .. then thank god it was lucky.
if dog dont dies and still u've taken anti rabies injection its no harm :).
yes u might sell out some $$$ but nuthin can be done i mean its needed dont think bout money right now see docy tomorrow first hour.
 
We have a doctor member from Surat , Medpal. he usually comes online at about this time. he would be better able to give correct suggestions. (if and when he visits and reads this thread) also as x86 has suggested take that Rs.5 Injection immediately. i think it is for tetanus.

and remember "if a dog bites a man its no news but When a man bites a dog .......:ohyeah: " ...Humour is medically good for early recovery ....
 
see its 400 per shot as far as i know u better ask any medicine shop but dad says dont take it until u see ur doctor.
but u can take tedvac with your eyes closed.
even a healthy man can take tedvac anytime.
 
hmm, money is not a problem. just i didnt want to tell my parents.

i guess i should ready myself for some pain ful shots.....

i hope that tedvac injection is avoidable. it bit me @ 10:15PM. so if i go to doctor @ around 10AM tomo morn, i will not hv to face any permanent consequences right? cuz i franky dunno where i can get a tedvac injection at this hour (expect for the big hospitals.)
 
burning the wound is outdated now nobody does it.
clean the wound with running tap water n soap fr 5 mins
treament next depends on whether the wound is in the upper part , lower part or face of the body, whther blood came out or its a superficial scratch, and whether the dog was vaccinated.
assuming that some blood came out plz take anti rabies vaccines,
diffrent anti rabies vac s r available, most common n cheapest one come fr arond 200 buck + tax . common dosage schedule is 0,3 7,14,21,30 days i.m. inj over deltiod(arm) but varies according to the vaccine.there is iv schd also not needed now.
best vac is recombinant vac but nt available in india i think nt sure, but damn xpensive.

plz don forget tt if not taken in last 3 yrs.
 
well see 10 am tomorrow is 12 hours.
i am telling you go to hospital at 8 morning.
my dad said to take tedvac becuz its a normal injection and widely used agaisnt any cuts to prevent tetanus rabies etc etc in primary stage.
whatever u do take action within 12 hours.
normally its 24 but i'd say make it 12.
you never know.
also i dont know if u'll sleep tonight and sleeping has any effect or not thts y i was telling u for tedvac.
wash the place again put some spirit and some disinfectant
.use some gauge tokeep it air passed and bandaged with little bitadine if its in your home.
