Seems Crysis Warhead has same DRM issue which plagued Spore, Red Alert 3.
Though this time installation limit available is 5!

Bottom line is, the pirates will still figure out a way past it. For paying customers its still a hassle.

edit :
Key Points:
This system allows you to authenticate your game on five computers with the purchase of one disc – you can install your copy on each machine as many times as you want. If you go over five machines, EA Customer Service is on hand to supply any additional authorizations that are warranted.
This DRM solution is safe. EA and Crytek would never allow anything that included spyware, viruses or malware to be installed on anyone’s computers.
We know there is concern about what will happen if the authentication servers turn off or questions about what will happen in five years if you want to play the game again (and we hope you do). If that were to ever happen, Crytek and EA would deploy a patch that would remove the authentication requirement completely.

Seems it can be installed multiple times on a single machine. This is fine with me!

This is total bullshit .... and if this is hurting buyers, it may discourage me from buying the game Original.

thats more than enough mate ... ive never used my dvd to install on more than two PCs ..and they are still giving us hi5 :ohyeah: ... so DRM is not an issue as such ... unless ppl want to run a cafe and are looking for a cost effective way

to setup Crysis LAN cafe :bleh:

hypothetical situations..how many times in a yr does ur mobo goes kaput..or u upgrade ur bios...btw most pc gamers who buy original games know wht the system requirements are and how the game would perform.

in regular cases it may take 1-2 yrs atleast to reach the DRM limit of 5 enough time to play a game several times over.
A company makes a product and it has every right to make sure that its interests have been safe guarded.

Look at it this way..u buy a modded console and u can make multiple copies of a game and back them up...u buy a original console u cant do that..so if ur disc gets a scratch or broken ..u can still use the game as a paper weight

OR does the company send u a new copy of the game for free ?

this is only a problem for those who choose to buy it. those who download it will be playing with unlimited installs for as long as they want.

so make trouble for paying customers while those who don't pay have no problem at all. yup sounds like a solid idea :/

Checkout the steamforums or any other crysis warhead or stalker clear sky forums and u will find many ppl who have already usedup there 5 install limits ...and check my previous post about clear sky above u will know that apparently no one is gonna help u with the drm thing..they are just say that they r not responsible and direct u towards someone else..
besides this 5 installations limit is really to prevent piracy..It has more to do with reselling of games once the someone is thru the game and doesnt want it anymore..pirates will always get thru it and have it drm free..

^^ well yes there are tonnes of poeple who have used up their 5 limits lets say even for on Benchmarking one can use up the 5 installs limit, but for a average user think about it how many installs he requires?

Most of the gamers I am sure wont even use up the 5 installs.

And also one can Activate Crysis Warhead on 5 different computers at once, lets say on my lappy and my Gaming PC at the same time. So it is not that bad.

.....at the end of the day I bought this game thru steam not because I can't simply download the full game from any Warez but because I don't mind giving 1300/- Rs to Crytek, they need it they are a very small company, who push technology with every engine of theirs, and this time when I can, I dont mind giving them some of my money, hopefully they will release another Crysis soon.

Have a nice day..

PS: I am sure in future patches this DRM limit would increase, as with SPORE it is to become unlimited after the first patch or something...

PSS:
EA says they will have staff standing by to grant more installations as necessary on a case by case basis. So, while this still isn't optimal, at least we are getting a compromise.

Errr.....My friend replaced his copy of Gears of War for the 360 as it got scratched due to the 360's DVD ROM issue.

Where is the problem in this?
You can install it on the same machine as many times as you want. I dont think updating the GFX card will make it recognize this as a new machine.

So how many machines would you end up buying in the next 3 years? More than 5? And you will still keep playing this game after 3 years?

I really doubt, doing bios updates or increasing memory/ replacing cpu should do with the 5 PC limit, a mother board change or windows re installation would probably count though.

You never know.. Maybe we'll be able to play with AA and AF cranked up all the way at that time :bleh:

Besides, some people like to revisit old games they played. Anyway when someone buys a product, they should be able to use it the way they choose. I format and reinstall my OS every 3 months, which, according to EA, counts as a major system upgrade. So going by that, I wouldn't be able to play the game after maybe a year.

The main point is why should the limitation be there in the first place when you have paid the complete amount for it? So what if I want to install it on 1 system or 10 different systems.

Well with pirated copy, Warhead can be installed infinite times on multiple systems.

The ironic factor over here is, the very methods the EA are using to stop piracy is the sole reason people are pirating it.

It'll be better i guess to purchase via Steam, as its having its own DRM and it wont create hassles like that of EA!

Exactly, glad they admitted that the Spore DRM was faulty. Maybe since these are the first few DRM implementation by EA, they have not yet struck the right cord.
But this only makes Steam look so much more better! No hassles of CD Keys, Media Problems or anything. And with bandwidth increasing by time, it does not look that bad an option either.
