Has anyone from Pune ordered stuff from global ebay.

The courier guy just called said he will deliver the package today but said that there is an octroi of 120 bucks. I thought the GEB price included octroi.

I had ordered on GEB to Pune address but the thing never arrived.
 
Why would it include octrai? Its a state tax, not valid in the rest of the country. The receiver of the package has to pay for it. Just ask for the octrai receipt from the courier guy first
 
@ hacker, nobody includes octroi in their prices buddy..... you have to pay it. On top of it, many times courier companies levy service charges for paying octroi for you beforehand and on top of it service tax. Thats bitter truth.

MH gov sucks the most about the taxes. With even vat charges they want free loot from citizens as octroi...

As long as there is change of city, octroi applies. I ( from pune) had to pay octroi for my netbook which was shipped from mumbai :( . The most you can do is, ask courier company not to bring item in city boundries and you collect it personally. Or deliver it at address where octroi is not applicable to a friend's address which is again a bit risky as you have to confirm whether item is recieved is intact or damaged to courier company in order to proceed to insurance claim if any.

I have bought lots of stuff from ebay.in and flipkart delivered to my Pune address. I dont specifically remember paying any octroi. THatz the reason why I got confused when he said I have to pay octroi. I thought GEB will include octroi in the final price based on my shipping address. (this is my first purchase on GEB )

So if I order an item from GEB and ship it to my Mumbai address, I will save on the octroi, is that correct??
 
Yes. I always order on Mumbai address. Pune PMC is very greedy, and puts octroi on most electronic stuff. I even had to pay octroi on a Jacket! Pendrives, books are spared. Most of the times it is a luck thing, getting caught by the toll.

I guess if you order at Hinjewadi (if you have any friend working in IT company here) then there is no octroi, since i have never been asked for it by any courier company. But Hinjewadi falls under PCMC mostly

Perfumes/ Razors/ Wallets/ Mobile accessories/ basically anything under Rs 2500 which would justify using the Rs 250 off coupon and not 10% off coupon ;)

my due date is 7th oct , according to ICC the shipment is stuck under customs . but i ordered a ssd and got it within 8days through shopabroad service
 
My BB 8320 was due today, they claim it stuck in customs, last week they told me my item wasnt purchased at all. I think i2c is going down the dumps with their services

Ordered another bag of dog food...this time I got it in a record 9 days :D

Ordered on 11PM 29th Sep and got it today 8PM...I'm a big fan of GEB now
