EEEPC 4G or ACER ASPIRE ONE. Which one to buy?

The 4g is available for around 12k now. The Aspire One is $330 = ~14500.
Is the Aspire One available in India at that price?
Im confused. Any suggestions?

go for only 10 inch models.. not only for more atom / memory / screen size... but also for the bigger keyboard..

+1. Check out the review I posted in the reviews section :P

@ballistic:

The 330$ is probably the Linux 3 cell batt version, right?

Right now, ONLY the Xp version is available in India @21.75k. Hopefully price drops in a month or so cos it was launched when the same was 400$ in US and its 350$ now :D

The linux version isnt here yet but was announced as launching at 20k + tax (this one was 22k+tax). So linux should be around 18.5k i guess, if they ever get around to launching it. Though 512Mb with 8Gb SSD needs upgrading esp wen its only another 2k for 120Gb + 1GbRAM + Xp.

Get the EEE ONLY if you want only a download rig to which you are willing to hook up an external monitor, HDD and keyboard as well :P

For any portability and actual work/surfing, you need to get the Aspire ONE :)

And any updates on the Wind's pricing?
I think waiting for some time will be the best option now. On the other hand, tommorow will be the same story with newer models and better specs.
12-14 k is my budget. Anyone with any experience on the eee

The Wind is around 24k :P

Waiting will always get you better models ;)

Lenovo has one coming out, pricing similar to the E. Dell has one that will probably be cheaper.

Problem is none of the cheap ones will have a decent HDD/battery, though we can hope for 9"/10" screens going forward at least.

Experience with the EEE? Shoot. I had one of those too :P Played around with it n finally gifted it to Dad. Last Update from Mom: Its gathering dust

I was thinking of getting the EEE PC 701 but the screen is really small
but if your budget is strictly 12-14k and you must buy it now then i don't think you have any other option as i have never heard of any lappy as cheap as 12k except EEE PC 4G(701)
you can always wait for things to get cheaper :)

the best EEE PC model according to me is the 901 (not 900)
it has atom procy(1.6GHz), 20GB SSD(Linux version(windows version comes with 12GB SSD)), 6-cell battery(Asus claims 7.8hrs life) 8.9"screen,bluetooth, everything the earlier models had and the size is almost same as the 7" so really small, and weighs 1.1 or 1.2kg i think.
For me size, weight and battery life is the main concern
you can easily run win xp and linux with dual boot and is very much sufficient for basic office work and surfing.
you can always add a 16GB SDHC card for extra space later
ram can be changed to 2GB(comes with 1GB i think)

but it is probably priced above 20k(not sure if its available in india)
the model they had at SMC was 900(which has celeron 630MHz and 3 cell battery)

So I would say try to get the 901 if you can or wait for more options to open up from other brands like dell and lenovo.

The 901 isnt available AFAIK. What is available is the 900 (celeron based) @ 20-22k which makes it DONT BUY :P because for the same price you can get the atom based acer ;)

The 1000H is available and is atom based. BUT it costs 26k approx or more :)

Only problem with Acer is teh 3cell battery. BUT acer has launched 6cell in US for same price so hopefully that comes here soon :ohyeah:

and just for ur update, the Aspire one linux edition is available locally now for 19990 plus tax :P

2k diff gets you 1Gb RAM + 120Gb HDD over 8Gb SSD and Xp to boot. Somehow I dont see too many people going for it. Linux fans can always download that Acer distro form the acer ftp site etc and install it on 1Gb RAM and 120Gb HDDs :ohyeah:

well definetly for 20k i doubt there will be any takers, i was thinking it wud have been priced at sub 18k level, that 8GB SSD is pretty sweet and wud have competed well with the EEE 7"

With dealers it will be around 18.5k. why?

Cos Xp version is 22k + taxes=23k officially, but my dealer gave for 21,750. So assume same margin, this one will be 18750 approx :) Still only 3k diff tho.
