I just logged into the TNEB online portal and the rates seem different from what was given in the PDF above.

#ajmeyn - Tariff for Kerala is available here -- http://www.kseb.in/i...apper&Itemid=60

You can try the calculator too -- http://www.kseb.in/i...apper&Itemid=41

Yes I think they are only showing the consumption charges for 500+ units (probably because your consumption lies in this category) which is the same as mentioned in the PDF too.

And thanks for the KSEB tariffs.

Chennai has 2 hours every day (not counting other usual power cuts). People in other cities in TN are complaining of 12-14 hrs a day.

Here are the charges for chhattisgarh, and yeah there is NO DOWNTIME here, electricity is available 24x7 in each and every corners, we have got surplus amount of electricity and dont know what to do with it

0 -100 units 1.80

0 - 200 units 1.90

0 - 500 units 2.4

0 - 700 units 3.1

700 - Above 4

^^ Sad to know the central grid isnt robust enough for other states to make us of this excess.

General question - how much are you willing to pay for a device that will cut your electricity consumption by ,say, 50 kWh/mo?

No one can beat andhra. We also have 6 hrs power cut in cities and 12hr in villages. Beat that!!!!

Barring Chennai, most other regions have power cuts ranging from 4 hours to 16 hours per day. The scheduled power cut in my area was like this until a week back: 9 AM - 12 Noon; 3 PM - 6 PM; 7.15 PM - 8.00 PM; 9.15 PM - 10.00 PM; 11.15 PM - 00.00 hrs; 2 AM - 3 AM

These days, a couple of those 45 min power cuts are gone. However, most other regions have such scheduled power cuts and some other unscheduled cuts too.

Various districts in TN are divided into groups, and each day of the week, a group of districts has compulsory power shut down to the industries in the region.

beat andhra pradesh!

0-50 1.45

51-100 2.80

191-200 3.05

201-300 4.75

301-500 6

501-- 6.25

Is the billing cycle monthly in AP?

Is this billing cycle monthly or bi-monthly? (hmm... either way it is still damn cheap)

And its true almost evry one crosses 500 units bi monthly ...even with 14 hrs power supply we cross 8 units/ day easy .Pondicherry the rates look like they have free power the last i heard ....can anyone from pondi report about the powercut in that place? is it as bad as TN ?

#[member='ajmeyn'] ^^^ the billing cycle is monthly, on every 1-2nd date of month, a guy come along with small billing machine, he note down reading and bill is generated instantly and handed over to us, our electricity board has also confirmed that they will be launching on the spot payment system also, as that you can pay the guy using DC or CC on the spot

Finally India has started developing in some areas....

#[member='sam000'] Pondicherry does not have any free power. But, like many other Union Territories, the power rates are very cheap.

0 - 100 units - Rs.0.55

101 - 200 units - Rs.0.80

201 - 300 units - Rs.1.45

> 300 units - Rs.1.75

Also, it rarely has any power cut at all.

True that.. It's an awesome place. However, too much of migrant population has brought the city to its limits, and the French culture is now a thing of the past. Nowadays, it's impossible to walk/ride/drive on the city roads due to increased traffic. The hopeless governance by corrupt people like NR is another bane.

^^ Sorry for the OT here ...since you guys know so much about the place can you give me links where i can find a small aprtment or a house for rent in pondi ?
