What a disastrous match for England.
I still cant believe the tactics, formation, errors my Goalkeeper....
WTF happened? I guess even England is asking themself this question.
3-2 should have been more like 2-2 without the errors.

Stupid stupid under pressure error from Carson.......
I havent seen a GK screw up this badly in long long time international match.

And I still cant understand 4-3-3 and later user 4-5-1 formation.

Euro 2008 without England will be simply be incomplete.
However they play in WC or Euro2008, they always bring in money, spectators and TV viewers. This is a huge disappointment.

Any bets on McClaren not getting fired? :@

Ya sad indeed but looking at the formation i had a felling this would happen :(

I read somewhere if England did not qualify,McLaren would quit himself ( I guess he will be sacked neways)

The goalkeeper can't be blamed too much. Poor chap had to be put into this game with no games leading up to it and it was his debut as well.

yea rite ...just look back to fat robbo between the posts sometime back...

they deserved to lose .. croats played awesome

what international match has this england team of superstars achieved???? they are all just overpaid overhyped players in the english league , i am sure the english media will now blame arsenal because they dont have english players in them for this loss... thats all they do ...push the blame and not blame the players

truth be told, apart from the likes of gerrard and rooney, who are the superstars in the english team? look at their wingers, joe cole and co. are hardly world class, and the strikers (rooney, owen aside) are rather pedestrian

now, Crotia played a million times better than the english. wtf , the england team played really sucky.. man they really missed Wayne Rooney,Rio, Michael Owen and others . after the first few "opportunities"Crotia played way better in the first half. haha sucky goal keeper also. bad selection I'd say . yes I'm also disappointed with the results.. but I dont think they really deserved to go to the finals.

Beckham has actually played very well for england in the past few matches they had. Why the hell was he not in the Starting eleven ?

England need Robert Green.

Lampard + Gerrard together in midfield = Disaster (both are similar and friggin selfish). Ollie/Bruce/Mourinho for Engerland job maybe.

Why are people disappointed that England got out? You surely don't support a country who ruled over us for 200 years :bleh:

But yeh, English football needs to be changed from the school level to the national level. England and English footballer are way too overrated. Look at France, Italy, Spain. Most consider their leagues to be inferior, yet the player who are bred in those leagues actually manage to reach the final stages of tournament with apparent ease.

England.... Damn....i'm not going to watch euro cup nemore...

McClaren Die die die in hell....:@ :@ Good tht he got sacked...he came in like a disease for the team..

I was cursing Robinson for being the weak link in the team, but this carson turned out to be a bigger idiot...why didnt they take david hjames instead??

And what was tht idiot mcClaren thinking making Becks sit all thru the 1st half?? :@ The team looked completely trasnformed after he came in... had it not been for the fugly error carson made in the starting, the match cud have easily been 2-2...

Go to hell McClaren...somebody pls reinstate Ericsson back...he was wayyy better...

^ Brother, i have nothing against you..but i must say this tht just the way u r loyal to your club team and feel for them, is there anything wrong if u feel the same for a national side? Even if tht doesnt happen to be your own country?? Its about the team and the players..just like it is with the clubs...as a national team, i'm a fan of the English team.. like i'm a fan of united..is thr anyhting wrong about it??

Why do ppl here in india go bonkers over Brazil when the World cup is around?? Last year ppl did all sorts of stupid things from pujas and yagnas for the brazil team... Why do they do tht?? Are we brazilians?? Or do they pay us money?? :|

ITs about the game and about the players tht you like...when u follow the same rule for club games, why shud international football be an exception?

It is about time people realized that the soccer stars (especially english players) perform only when they are paid their 100,000 quid/week salaries. They seldom show the passion and determination that they show for their clubs.

Which explains why people like Lampard and Gerrard are s00per failures for England. They just lack the passion while playing for their country. No matter how rich they get, they just cant get enuff of earning money (which is why Lampard is still holding out for more money and not signing a contract extension with Chelsea) and it is people like us who feel cheated when our fav. stars play the way they do.

Which also explains why I prefer watching Championship, League 1 (And Ligue 1) football instead of EPL, Its pure friggin business now the EPL, Sadly :(.

Their leagues are a big reason, the avg level is much higher in the UK than on the continent. Other than that its purely on an emotional level. The rare times when they can almost stick on with impossible odds.

A example from memory is how they played one man down in the 96, world cup quarter-finals against argentina with one man down for nearly 80 minutes but conceded very close to the end. That was the game when a young beckham got goaded into fouling the opposition resulting in him getting red-carded. I'm sure there are many other examples, but this one was a pretty high stakes one and very tense.

Having said that its become very emotionally draining to support them over the last few years. They don't have a good crop of players atm, or something invariably goes wrong, or they shit their pants when it comes to penalties. All very human attributes that highly paid pro-footballers should not be displaying at this level. Funnily enough other teams don't seem to crumble under said pressure.

But i just can't get it into myself to ever support the robotic, no heart germans.

am not really a footie fan but become one when the euro's or world cup comes around :D

But i just can't get it into myself to ever support the robotic, no heart germans.

  But they do come with a mission and stick with what they are pre programmed for..:P Just like machines...they are savage :P But yeah, i agree, their play is so mechanical tht its almost like watching robots...their games lacks the soul and the emotion of the game...

Also, i must add tht just like England has had a bad history with international competitions, another big flops are the Spaniards...they play some gr8 football at club level but as a national side they have been big flops..they have always been a strong contender for the WC with a star lineup, but always falter along the way..:P

Why people love England football team?? Well answer is simple.
We dont have out own team who is anywhere close to top of the ranking.
People in India love irony. And England football team is exactly that.
We all know they are not the best.
As far as British ruling over us for 200 yrs goes, well its in the past. Nothing will ever change that. We still love and live by their game ( cricket cough cricket..) in this country. ;)
So nothing wrong in feeling sorry for the team. I am disappointed they didnt make it to Euro08. I know this team sucks very badly at times, but hey you cant simply force someone to support some other team :)

Bang on, the english play with heart, (or used to), when they want to.

The Spaniards are the other under-performers as well, agreed :). if i'm not mistaken their top clubs pay their stars the most (in the football world) if not the Italians. This inevitably leads to bigger expectations from these countries than others. You get to see the stars do thier stuff week in & out that its almost a given the national team will also similarly deliver when they dont really play all that often as a team in the first place.

Here's hoping the next euro's will have a proper team win them unlike the last one when the Greeks did (!) ...f*** me..WHO!!!

..the czechs deserved to win that one.

^Problem is, the lack of coordination among the players in the national side...they play like complete strangers to each other and never look like a unit. There is no flow in the game like what is seen in the club games. This problem plagues england and spain too. Most of their players play around the world throughout the year for their respective clubs. And in england, the rivalry among the clubs is so much tht the players act like foes. Look at how john terry and frank lampard or say, Gerrarrd feel for rooney or Rio and vice versa...:P Club rivalry is understood, but these guys shd understand tht when playing in the national side, these very players are their brothers and playing for the country. And all those friends from their clubs instantly become rivals, since they represent a different country.

What better example than the spat between Rooney and C.Ronaldo during last year's WC ? :P

I think, the only possible workaround for this problem is tht there shud be more international matches throughout the year and it shud be made obligatory for the players to practice together for the national side so tht they can develop a frequency among themselves and perform as a single unit.

Only then can teams like England and Spain win international competition..they need to forget their club rivalries and play for their country. Look at how the craotians played yesterday. their players too play for other clubs, but as a national team, they looked like a close knit unit..there was flow in their game and it seemed like the players know each other inside out. This is how u play as a team. This is the only way to win internationals..;)
