English TV series discussion

Watched just the pilot episode so far. My opinions are similar to yours. I hope it is not the same melodrama that we usually see with such story lines.

This series has been a big disappointment. I had the belief that after decent funding, the quality of the local shows would go up, but the gulf between the direction + acting from here vs what we been seeing internationally has gotten highlighted. I am hoping that they did some superb blunders while choosing the team.

This is an 8 ep season and unless they have a second season in tow, the finale seems to be very predictable-
The police officer fakes going on a holiday trip, murderer downs his guard and gets caught.

Started "Ballers" - binge watched S1 , already midway in S2 . Just too freaking good !
Stars Dwayne Johnson , all about sports management and the high life of the football stars. Mucho fun !

Breathe really turned out a damp squib for the finale. Not only was it predictable, it was done in an utterly poor manner as well. Simple basic flaws which were so obvious were overlooked. The dialogues looked like archaic and direction only had the gloss of non-screaming/background noisy music.

I would term the series as mediocre.

Almost finished watching Future Man. This is a fun and tongue-in-cheek take on the time travelling sci-fi trope. It can get really goofy at times but I'm enjoying it.
How does Firefly hold today? I have heard a lot about it and also about it's unfinished story. Worth investing time?
Also, what about Battlestar Galactica? Can I watch it even if I'm not familiar with the franchise?

Watched both, Battlestar Galactica is better than Firefly...and yes, Battlestar Galactica can be watched even if you are not familiar with the franchise, but some of it's episode may feel like drag (boring)

Good to hear that Battlestar Galactica is accessible. I was actually thinking of starting Firefly first since it's less investment (single season). And I read that Serenity ties up most of the loose ends.

Electric dreams on Prime anyone ? Seems like a response to Black Mirror but pales in comparison but that doesn't means that I'm not watching it ;)

Altered carbon was a dud in my opinion, wasted quite some time on it

^^ altered carbon seemed very interesting but all the -ve reviews made me decide to skip it. probably a good call...

electric dreams is on my must watch list

Skip both.Altered Carbon started out interesting but lost steam 3-4 episodes in.

As for Electric Dreams which aspired to be the next Dark Mirror it turned out to be a nagging disappointment from the very beginning.

Pardon me for this but did anyone watch 'Shaitaan Haveli' on prime? Or am I the only one rotfl'ing on it

Trailer here in case if you are unaware of what I'm talking about

Just started watching The Money Heist on Netflix.
Seems quite good from the first few episodes.

Even though I have a Netflix subscription, I feel the need to download the same episodes from torrents because of the difference in quality visible while streaming. Even after having a decent Internet connection the inability to choose exact streaming quality like that on Youtube irks me a lot, whether it is Netflix or Amazon Prime.

LOL I thought I was the only one who did that in spite of having a Netflix subscription. PSA FTW for the 720p HEVC rips.

DARK a german tv show on Netflix is amazing. Turn on dubbed english audio & subtitles.
Very immersive.
Thanks.
Ever since I watched Forbrydelsen, I have preferred to watch such shows in their original language. Same is true for animes.

Also installed Windows 10 on USB and downloaded via the Netflix app and the High quality downloads are quite good and definitely much better than streaming on a 4Mbps connection. Size is also quite reasonable.
