Priced at Rs 12,650, HTC Explorer arrives in India bundled with Vodafone 3G plan

Introducing yet another entry level budget phone, HTC with Explorer brings Android platform to new smartphone users. The latest offering from the Taiwanese company packs in a  3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, 600MHz processor and 3-megapixel camera.

Powered by a Android 2.3.5 OS, the device sports HTC Sense 3.5 and a long battery life at 1230 mAh. The 3G enabled handset also packs in a WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 for excellent connectivity options.

Equipped with a 512MB of RAM that will help you in accessing apps and different features at lightning fast speed, the device also supports a microSD card slot for further expansion.

HTC has tied up with Vodafone to offer users exclusive 3G services. The offer includes Vodafone users getting double data on some 3G plan.

The pricing includes 200MB for Rs 100, 1GB for Rs 375 and 2GB for Rs 650 plans. To activate these plan you need to SMS EXPLORER to 111. The offer is only valid till December 31, 2011.

Nicknamed Pico, HTC Explorer's launch in India is seen as a bold step from HTC. While other globally renowned smartphone manufacturers tend to launch their new models abroad, HTC has broken away from this usual norm with Explorer. This move is likely to benefit the company as Indian markets are increasingly seen as the perfect grounds for entry-level smartphones.

^^ True. Widfire S seems to be better when looking at the price. But it is good news that HTC has decided to release these phones in India first rather than releasing it abroad and have Indian consumers wait for it to reach their shores. Maybe other major manufacturers can start releasing specific models for India.

Boss even i looked the official advertisement from HTC in the THE HINDU today. Rate has been slashed to 9499. Probably the thread starter was trying to say about the official release.
